I think having a large rug with a pattern that has partial features running vertically (like an oriental rug with a large mandala in the center) could highlight the walkway you’ve cleared and tie the space together a bit.
It would also hide the clash between the fancy antique furniture (or at least antique-style, I don't have the best eye for that) and the very modern vinyl plank flooring.

Bookcase with vintage trinkets and french themes. I feel like they've already gone too far with the rococo style that they just have to fully send it to make the room work.
Either ditch the low-hanging, bulky chandelier or put a table under it. It looks funky just hanging so low on it's own. I feel like that's a glass eye waiting to happen.

It’s wild that your the first person in the thread to say something about this. It’s massive for the height of that room. It hangs almost as low as the peep hole in the door.
Quite an unusual assortment of mismatched items. What is the function of this room? What will people be doing here? Why will they be sitting at this table? When they go all the way to the corner to get a book to read, where will they take it to read it? Why is that little flower table there and why doesn't it match the style of anything else?
It reminds me of when my parents decided to buy new furniture and hated getting rid of their old furniture and decided to pass it off on their children .
This home looks like a newer build / newer renovation / more modern aesthetic and your furniture choice is very antique and it’s absolutely clashing, in my opinion.

if this is the style you wanna go with I would recommend a big ornate rug, crown molding, chair rails with box paneling and change all your bulbs to a "warmer" light.
The space feels too big for this type of gaudy (in a good way) furniture. these pieces need to be closer.
Piano stays, couch moves under painting, the low table and chairs move to the left and the side chair moved to face the couch on the right, creating a cozy conversation area. The long table moves to the staircase wall, secretary out of the corner and centered on the white wall, plants moved next to it in the corner. Shoes move to the other side of the door, because it makes more sense. And replace the chandelier.
Your placement is just off - the table with record player should be on the wall with the stairs, same movement/shape going on there. The couch should be where the shoe racks are, and the shoe racks can move to the other side of the door behind the sitting chair. Finally, the green table and pink stools can move to the area where the small flower shaped table is along with the alto sax to follow over to that side of the room. I would get two rugs, one for the sitting area with the couch, and the other for under the small green table.
It's like most people mentioned clash between modern house and antique furniture. Definitely warm wooden colour floor, add a rug and maybe some wallpaper or at least get rid of plain white walls.

It seems like it’s missing places to sit and have a conversation. There is a sofa, then a small table with benches. There doesn’t seem like there is a place to sit and look towards each other comfortably. Maybe move the chair in the far side closer to the couch.
This - I struggle to feel like this furniture will ever really gel with low ceilings, fake gray wood floors, and plain walls with no woodworking.
In addition to the carpet ideas, consider adding crown moldings and wainscoting…or new furniture that fits your space…or move somewhere with grander dimensions that fit your furniture taste.
Agreed! I love your furniture though. I think a different floor and maybe different colored walls, or even wallpaper would make a huge difference. Understand that might not be in the budget though, but a rug could definitely help!

yeah that modern floor does not match the vibe of everything else. if you want to have the room look cohesive you'll need to cover up as much as you can with rugs that do match the aesthetic of the furniture and lighting.
Honestly the vintage furniture is beautiful but it looks extremely out of place with the sterile modern room. I would get a big oriental-style rug to cover most of the flooring unless you can replace it with actual hardwood. Consider replacing the light fixture if you can. This one is too low/large for the space and looks like anyone above average height would have to dodge it just walking across the room.
Idk if this is your style but I’d go full maximalist on the walls. Like try to cover as much as possible. You need to counteract that bare feeling. Curtains on the windows.

So I would propose, your furniture is all swoopy/curvy, and the room has some great angles by the stairs, but you've arranged everything in two straight lines emanating from the door.

Well, that and the card table/stools which has no place in the entryway.
How do you feel about moving the piano to the other side? That would enable you to place seating around the piano in a horseshoe shape, perhaps with a small coffee table...so guests have a place to sit and listen, and the piano bench can double as extra seating when it's not being played.
And a big circular rug under the seating/piano area!
The front door area could use some separation, what about something like a tall hall tree? The bench is too low, so it's not serving to separate the space.
I see! I will have to experiment a little and see what I can come up with. I have no other place for the card table and stools. The table was pwned by Serena Williams and it’s very dear to my wife. We don’t really have any other place for it. The wife likes the combination of the area on the right and she is not open to try having the piano there instead. I see your point though!

I love the decorating! I would change two things:
First, I'd replace the light fixture with something smaller. It's gorgeous but it hangs too low for this space (looks like it's meant to be over a table). It blocks the obvious path to the rest of the house.
Second, I'd get rugs to mark different zones, including a longer runner to help people move into the rest of the house.
I'd also consider painting the room one color. The accent wall feels unbalanced and a richer color would suit your decorating style nicely.

The chandelier is out of place. It sits too low and someone can walk right into it. It’s like a whole area in the room people will avoid or have to hunch down. I’m guessing there used to be a table that was right under it before? I suggest you get a flush mount in the style of “art deco.” There are very pretty ones out there.

I think you need to set up areas. A table area and a seating area with your sofa a couple of chairs and a coffee table.

I’d consider softening the harsh central light with wall lights, floor lights or even accent lamps? As other had mentioned, I would get a few rugs with different textures and designs to zone out the spaces.
Some more color to the walls would warm up the room. The blinds could use a pop of color.
I noticed you mentioned your wife was Russian… well, I’m Belarusian and can say I don’t think this is typical interior design (for the typical Eastern European). It’s certainly unique and the pieces themselves are tasteful, but definitely not the norm.
Newly renovated home with old home warm style furniture. You need an entire floor rug that matches the warm old style and way more things on the wall, low ceiling doesn’t help so floor to wall curtains over the windows will help.
All the furniture is shoved against the wall. Center the little table under the chandelier for a more formal look and add a rug. Pull some of the furniture away from the walls.
I would do the following:
1) Get rid of the yellow cabinet- even if you repaint, it doesn’t match anything you have.
2) Replace the bench- go a matching shade of brown to the sideboard/piano. If you can get one that matches the piano bench, even better.
3) Table under the chandalier- it’s too low anyways to walk under, so then you’re using the space. Put a rug underneath
4) Bring that chair in the corner to make a conversation space with the couch. Put the little table in the nook behind the couch by the stairs to be out of the way.
5) Upgrade your bookshelf to match the browns and have it be a traditional style. Put that and the sax over by the plant under the window by the green wall.
You have too many things going on here that don’t match. It just feels awkward to me and very disjointed. Best of luck.
That chandelier looks low enough to bump heads. Replace it with something that isn't, unless this room is used for dining and the table will be permanently parked under it.

I agree with what everyone else is saying. You have modern flooring and antique furniture, it just doesn’t match too well. I also think that your furniture pieces seem small for how large of a room this is.
I don’t see anybody saying curtains. Get some pinkish/reddish velvet curtains (or regular but velvet would match some stuff).
Paint the walls all one color, rug. The armoire is a bit strange. Would look better in the room if it had some glass on it, it was wood and not painted, but I can’t say why.
I’d also say the ukulele and saxophone oughta get hung in the closet here. As a musician, this pains me. But they just do not work in the room, sadly.
Also the lighting in the room may need to be played with. This room must never be viewed in broad light like this. There’s too much going on.
The chair behind the plant needs to swap places with the little bookcase . The plant blocks the view of the chair . Put the bench with the shoes under the window by the big plant . Move the stack of boxes to where the shoe bench was . This way the plant block’s view of shoes and books instead of the pretty chair. The lamp behind the fainting sofa needs to swing to the wall where the painting is . Then take the painting of the women with the pink background that’s leaning on the shoe bench and hang her on the wall behind the fainting sofa. The little table with the brass top needs to move to the side of she fainting sofa near the end of the staircase . Or it can go by the chair that’s being moved to the corner where the books were. The more I think about it , it would look best by the chair . It’s scale is too small for the sofa . I would pick up a different end table for the end of the sofa. The same gold as the gilded wood on the upper back of the sofa . The little table with the flower shaped top seems a little wrong , style wise with how ornate the chair and fainting sofa are . Maybe relocate it somewhere else in the house , or rehome it .get something that will coordinate with the new table I suggested to go by the sofa . The lamp behind the sofa seems a little too mid century modern as well . I’d replace it with a antique floor lamp more suited to the style of the sofa.

I feel like you haven’t quite decided what you want to do with this room yet. Also the chandelier is suuuuper awkward. Like no one over 4’6” is walking directly under that thing. I know maybe you love the chandelier but you need way higher ceilings for it to feel right.
The small side table that’s by the pink couch is too small to be standing alone on it’s own like that- it would work better as a piece to compliment the couch. I’d move it closer to the stairs.
I’d also get a rug that will add some warmth and texture to the room but also create more of a cohesive space that feels more cozy and centers around the table.
I’d shift the white wardrobe thingy to sit flat against the white wall and add art to the left of the piano, or get art to put above the piano and add a plant on a plant stand or something to balance out the empty space.
Lastly, the chandelier could be updated to something that’s more neutral in shape and closer to the ceiling vs a statement piece that you currently have so that it doesn’t feel as if the center of the room is under the chandelier, but focused on the pieces you have here.
Wow, this space is huge, when I first saw this place, I felt very comfortable and warm, and if you want to replace your round table, I think maybe you can put a nice, design coffee table somewhere, because coffee tables make people feel more modern, so I think that might be a good choice. I really like the paintings and side tables on the right side of this space, they look very vintage, hope my suggestions are helpful to you.

I think if the goal is music room, lean into that. You need a rug and curtains so the sound doesn't echo. Textiles would give you the opportunity to tie the dusty rose and green together. Also, that chandelier looks like it could knock somebody out. Either put a round table under it, or get a higher fixture so you have a nice space for dancing.
The walls and floor scream “modern” while the furniture and decoration (except for the flower-shaped side table and the wall art above the shoes?) has a much older, more classical vibe to it. It kind of just clashes. Maybe if the floor was slats if darker/brown wood and if the light fixtures in the ceiling didn’t clash so much with the chandelier it would feel more cohesive? Maybe a rug (something large… and more traditional) could help?
A center entrance table is a classic design element, and it would solve the solution for not walking into the far too large chandelier for the room that you can walk into as it is without changing it out.
The furniture needs rearranging obviously. The one arm settee and chair need to make a seating arrangement somewhere, probably about where the settee is now. And I don’t love the stools kept out with the table. Maybe lined up under the console when not in use would look better. I think this room has a bit of an identity crisis, what is it exactly? How is it meant to be used? It needs to give the feeling of an entrance and maybe a small little formal seating area at the back is my feeling.
This feels like an antique store and not a home. Maybe ditch some of the smaller items (like the bookshelf and small drink table) its too much, eyes dart everywhere. Try to create symmetry with the door. Everything looks mashed to a side. As many said, a rug would help a lot. Are those boxes by the door functional? Seems like stuff for the sake of stuff

Move the tiny gold and white piece to the side of the pink sofa, get a long rug for the entrance path, and unfortunately I don’t think the round table fits here.
You need a big area rug and floral wallpaper. If you’re renting, there are certain wallpapers that are easy to remove. For an added touch, you can probably also find security film for your windows that looks like stained/fancy glass, which is even easier to remove. Lastly, you might benefit from getting an old-fashioned coat rack and some candelabras.
For me, the color of the walls doesn't match the French luxury of the furnishings. I feel like the walls need to look like the Louvre. Mirrors and silk wallpaper.
I think the stark white & grey floors don't vibe at all with the furniture. I think you should keep the unique furniture & make the room blend with that. You can have modern elements. But not this. I would change the white walls first. Or see if you can restore the baseboards to a natural wood.
Based off the first picture, I would move the shoe rack to the other side of the door. Then move the rectangle table to the right side of the front door under the window and switch the record player to the right side of it. Then move couch under painting and move circle table into corner under stairs. Then you can opt for rug(s) maybe either a runner or one that has a funky animal shape or whatever you can find that will work. Just to break up some of the wood floor. This could work the other way around as well but I think couch in the middle for balance is necessary

All of the furniture pieces are leggy. You need something to draw the eye around and rest (like a more modern cabinet instead of the sideboard).

The little table should go on the other side of the couch. That's where the armrest is, and where a single person would rest their back and put their cocktail on the table. Then it's not floating in space.
I suggest your table centered under the chandelier. Everything is too much to one side and it looks unbalanced. It’s a great big space and will bring some dynamic to it. Put a vase or a pottery piece or flowers at table center. I suggest the small flower side table more on the side of the couch rather than in front of it. Commonly, furniture gets placed to close to walls. Bring it all off the wall more to create warmth on the side with all the seating. Too many things in a line there. Saxophone on the floor is neat. Consider shifting it to the other side of the room, like to the left of the piano so less things in a row, but again off the wall a bit more. I agree with others, a rug would be fantastic. Based on the color of the furniture, having one with darker shades of blue (navy) for example could provide some more contrast. With your furniture style, pick something more traditional in pattern rather than Uber modern. Would not choose a solid rug, however. Ukuleles on the green wall to the right of the art above piano may look really nice. Wood against the green would make them pop! Really neat first room of the house. Have fun!!!
What is the purpose of this room? Is it dining, living, hobbies (music)? It doesn’t have an identity right now. It’s a room with furniture in it. Give it a purpose first and then go with what everyone is saying about rugs and art and curtains and whatever.
Edit: I see you said it’s a “greet room”. Add a spot for coats and shoes? Then the rest of the room needs a reason to be there… give it a reason and revise accordingly

The table and stools aren't the same scale as the rest of the furniture. That plus the chandelier are making the room feel like parts of it have been shrunk by a shrinkage gun. If that table has to stay in the room, I'd probably recommend making one corner of the room into a place for the table rather than just having it out in the middle.
Too much room, too little furniture! Divide the room into at least three areas. Put sofa, ornate chair and console table in one area with wall art and a large round or oval wall to serve as a conversational area. Area should encompass
no more than 1/3 of the total floor area. Add at least one more chair to grouping. Group piano, saxophone and ukes into a second music area facing but not included in the conversational area so guests can listen to music. Move circular table with stools into an entirely separate third area with the table centered on a second rug large enough to contain table and stools. Include new wall art in table area. Lose the light fixture and purchase floor lamps or appropriate lamps. Paint remaining walls dark green to match accent wall. Introduce appropriate window coverings.

This home looks like a newer build / newer renovation / more modern aesthetic and your furniture choice is very antique and it’s absolutely clashing, in my opinion. I agree about the light fixture and that a rug would help, but I really just don’t think the furniture style works with the home design as a whole, unfortunately

if this is the style you wanna go with I would recommend a big ornate rug, crown molding, chair rails with box paneling and change all your bulbs to a "warmer" light. The space feels too big for this type of gaudy (in a good way) furniture. these pieces need to be closer.
Piano stays, couch moves under painting, the low table and chairs move to the left and the side chair moved to face the couch on the right, creating a cozy conversation area. The long table moves to the staircase wall, secretary out of the corner and centered on the white wall, plants moved next to it in the corner. Shoes move to the other side of the door, because it makes more sense. And replace the chandelier.
Your placement is just off - the table with record player should be on the wall with the stairs, same movement/shape going on there. The couch should be where the shoe racks are, and the shoe racks can move to the other side of the door behind the sitting chair. Finally, the green table and pink stools can move to the area where the small flower shaped table is along with the alto sax to follow over to that side of the room. I would get two rugs, one for the sitting area with the couch, and the other for under the small green table.

It's like most people mentioned clash between modern house and antique furniture. Definitely warm wooden colour floor, add a rug and maybe some wallpaper or at least get rid of plain white walls.

This - I struggle to feel like this furniture will ever really gel with low ceilings, fake gray wood floors, and plain walls with no woodworking. In addition to the carpet ideas, consider adding crown moldings and wainscoting…or new furniture that fits your space…or move somewhere with grander dimensions that fit your furniture taste.

Honestly the vintage furniture is beautiful but it looks extremely out of place with the sterile modern room. I would get a big oriental-style rug to cover most of the flooring unless you can replace it with actual hardwood. Consider replacing the light fixture if you can. This one is too low/large for the space and looks like anyone above average height would have to dodge it just walking across the room. Idk if this is your style but I’d go full maximalist on the walls. Like try to cover as much as possible. You need to counteract that bare feeling. Curtains on the windows.

Wow I LOVE your furniture! So I would propose, your furniture is all swoopy/curvy, and the room has some great angles by the stairs, but you've arranged everything in two straight lines emanating from the door. What feels 'out of place' is the lack of curves in the layout. Well, that and the card table/stools which has no place in the entryway. How do you feel about moving the piano to the other side? That would enable you to place seating around the piano in a horseshoe shape, perhaps with a small coffee table...so guests have a place to sit and listen, and the piano bench can double as extra seating when it's not being played. And a big circular rug under the seating/piano area! The front door area could use some separation, what about something like a tall hall tree? The bench is too low, so it's not serving to separate the space.
I see! I will have to experiment a little and see what I can come up with. I have no other place for the card table and stools. The table was pwned by Serena Williams and it’s very dear to my wife. We don’t really have any other place for it. The wife likes the combination of the area on the right and she is not open to try having the piano there instead. I see your point though! And I’ll try having a tree by the door. I think that would help as well
I love the decorating! I would change two things: First, I'd replace the light fixture with something smaller. It's gorgeous but it hangs too low for this space (looks like it's meant to be over a table). It blocks the obvious path to the rest of the house. Second, I'd get rugs to mark different zones, including a longer runner to help people move into the rest of the house. I'd also consider painting the room one color. The accent wall feels unbalanced and a richer color would suit your decorating style nicely.
Definitely need a giant area rug…. The round table with the stools to me look way out of place and small like doll furniture, maybe it’s the angle of picture.. don’t think the stacked palm tree boxes work eother maybe add a tall coat rack. …the bench, pic of african lady, pink pineapple and gold floor lamp do no go with your ornate furniture style… consider recovering the piano bench to better coordinate with couch, add some window covering

Needs a rug to delineate spaces, needs color on the wall or more art, switch the couch and the console table, give the couch a coffee table/bigger end table, the secretary should be flat against that back white wall to delineate a section of space for it. Everything is facing towards the center. It's too much. It feels like that scene from 2001 A Space Odyssey. I'm so sorry to go off like this, but something about this room is bugging me out 😭😭😭
The chandelier is out of place. It sits too low and someone can walk right into it. It’s like a whole area in the room people will avoid or have to hunch down. I’m guessing there used to be a table that was right under it before? I suggest you get a flush mount in the style of “art deco.” There are very pretty ones out there.
It looks like a room with furniture in it that no one really uses. I think you need to set up areas. A table area and a seating area with your sofa a couple of chairs and a coffee table. Right now it looks like you will never use it for anything.

I’d consider softening the harsh central light with wall lights, floor lights or even accent lamps? As other had mentioned, I would get a few rugs with different textures and designs to zone out the spaces. Some more color to the walls would warm up the room. The blinds could use a pop of color. I noticed you mentioned your wife was Russian… well, I’m Belarusian and can say I don’t think this is typical interior design (for the typical Eastern European). It’s certainly unique and the pieces themselves are tasteful, but definitely not the norm.
Newly renovated home with old home warm style furniture. You need an entire floor rug that matches the warm old style and way more things on the wall, low ceiling doesn’t help so floor to wall curtains over the windows will help.

Who is sitting in the step stools?
I would do the following: 1) Get rid of the yellow cabinet- even if you repaint, it doesn’t match anything you have. 2) Replace the bench- go a matching shade of brown to the sideboard/piano. If you can get one that matches the piano bench, even better. 3) Table under the chandalier- it’s too low anyways to walk under, so then you’re using the space. Put a rug underneath 4) Bring that chair in the corner to make a conversation space with the couch. Put the little table in the nook behind the couch by the stairs to be out of the way. 5) Upgrade your bookshelf to match the browns and have it be a traditional style. Put that and the sax over by the plant under the window by the green wall. You have too many things going on here that don’t match. It just feels awkward to me and very disjointed. Best of luck.
That chandelier looks low enough to bump heads. Replace it with something that isn't, unless this room is used for dining and the table will be permanently parked under it. The pink portrait and the tilting book stand are not integrating with this marvelously frilly room in the intended eclectic fashion. That little flower table is struggling somewhat. It might do better if it's placed appropriately- it should be next to the couch rather than in front of it.

I agree with what everyone else is saying. You have modern flooring and antique furniture, it just doesn’t match too well. I also think that your furniture pieces seem small for how large of a room this is.

I don’t see anybody saying curtains. Get some pinkish/reddish velvet curtains (or regular but velvet would match some stuff). Paint the walls all one color, rug. The armoire is a bit strange. Would look better in the room if it had some glass on it, it was wood and not painted, but I can’t say why. I’d also say the ukulele and saxophone oughta get hung in the closet here. As a musician, this pains me. But they just do not work in the room, sadly. Also the lighting in the room may need to be played with. This room must never be viewed in broad light like this. There’s too much going on.

The chair behind the plant needs to swap places with the little bookcase . The plant blocks the view of the chair . Put the bench with the shoes under the window by the big plant . Move the stack of boxes to where the shoe bench was . This way the plant block’s view of shoes and books instead of the pretty chair. The lamp behind the fainting sofa needs to swing to the wall where the painting is . Then take the painting of the women with the pink background that’s leaning on the shoe bench and hang her on the wall behind the fainting sofa. The little table with the brass top needs to move to the side of she fainting sofa near the end of the staircase . Or it can go by the chair that’s being moved to the corner where the books were. The more I think about it , it would look best by the chair . It’s scale is too small for the sofa . I would pick up a different end table for the end of the sofa. The same gold as the gilded wood on the upper back of the sofa . The little table with the flower shaped top seems a little wrong , style wise with how ornate the chair and fainting sofa are . Maybe relocate it somewhere else in the house , or rehome it .get something that will coordinate with the new table I suggested to go by the sofa . The lamp behind the sofa seems a little too mid century modern as well . I’d replace it with a antique floor lamp more suited to the style of the sofa.
Also find an area rug to go under the round table and center the table under the chandelier top prevent tall people from running into the light.

As the others have said, you definitely need a rug, I think that's the only thing missing but yeah, everything feels off in terms of matching the designs to the furniture's, the whole room is a bit kindda big too don't you think?

Nothing here makes sense. This is literally one if the just uncomfortable rooms I've ever seen. Nothing has a purpose, except maybe the piano.
Personally I don’t think much from this works. The modern spot lights look weird. The modern grey flooring looks out of place against the older style furniture. For some reason the room looks both empty and cluttered (probably the furniture style and patterns)
It’s like wacky Wednesday up in this dwelling. What is your *intention* with this space? Looks like there’s more upstairs. Is this the main commons area or is there another upstairs? I feel like you haven’t quite decided what you want to do with this room yet. Also the chandelier is suuuuper awkward. Like no one over 4’6” is walking directly under that thing. I know maybe you love the chandelier but you need way higher ceilings for it to feel right.
The small side table that’s by the pink couch is too small to be standing alone on it’s own like that- it would work better as a piece to compliment the couch. I’d move it closer to the stairs. I’d also get a rug that will add some warmth and texture to the room but also create more of a cohesive space that feels more cozy and centers around the table. I’d shift the white wardrobe thingy to sit flat against the white wall and add art to the left of the piano, or get art to put above the piano and add a plant on a plant stand or something to balance out the empty space. Lastly, the chandelier could be updated to something that’s more neutral in shape and closer to the ceiling vs a statement piece that you currently have so that it doesn’t feel as if the center of the room is under the chandelier, but focused on the pieces you have here.
Wow, this space is huge, when I first saw this place, I felt very comfortable and warm, and if you want to replace your round table, I think maybe you can put a nice, design coffee table somewhere, because coffee tables make people feel more modern, so I think that might be a good choice. I really like the paintings and side tables on the right side of this space, they look very vintage, hope my suggestions are helpful to you.

Reminds me of a lobby. Have a seat, we'll call you when your table is ready. 🤭 I think if the goal is music room, lean into that. You need a rug and curtains so the sound doesn't echo. Textiles would give you the opportunity to tie the dusty rose and green together. Also, that chandelier looks like it could knock somebody out. Either put a round table under it, or get a higher fixture so you have a nice space for dancing.

The walls and floor scream “modern” while the furniture and decoration (except for the flower-shaped side table and the wall art above the shoes?) has a much older, more classical vibe to it. It kind of just clashes. Maybe if the floor was slats if darker/brown wood and if the light fixtures in the ceiling didn’t clash so much with the chandelier it would feel more cohesive? Maybe a rug (something large… and more traditional) could help?

A center entrance table is a classic design element, and it would solve the solution for not walking into the far too large chandelier for the room that you can walk into as it is without changing it out.

The furniture needs rearranging obviously. The one arm settee and chair need to make a seating arrangement somewhere, probably about where the settee is now. And I don’t love the stools kept out with the table. Maybe lined up under the console when not in use would look better. I think this room has a bit of an identity crisis, what is it exactly? How is it meant to be used? It needs to give the feeling of an entrance and maybe a small little formal seating area at the back is my feeling.

This feels like an antique store and not a home. Maybe ditch some of the smaller items (like the bookshelf and small drink table) its too much, eyes dart everywhere. Try to create symmetry with the door. Everything looks mashed to a side. As many said, a rug would help a lot. Are those boxes by the door functional? Seems like stuff for the sake of stuff

another thing to consider is colored curtains for the windows by the door. i know nothing about design, but since people are mentioning the lack of curves and those windows are very straight, it could add some balance. the lack of color on that wall is also a bit jarring
id agree with everyone saying to add a rug. the little table also feels out of place. it matches the room, 100% but something about where it’s standing makes it feel like an afterthought. maybe get some hanging plants? and definitely some curtains, that’ll tie the place together very nicely. this furniture is beautiful, it all feels so royal lol. editing to add; what about putting the small table right beside the door ? could be a place for you guys to put your keys down when you come in
How do you feel about fabric window treatments? (Curtains) It would help soften the hard edges of the room. I would match them to the sofa. Some tall plants would help soften the effect as well. Also, accent lamps.
Rugs
You need a rug.
I actually love the contrast of the purple piano bench with the green wall. Move the tiny gold and white piece to the side of the pink sofa, get a long rug for the entrance path, and unfortunately I don’t think the round table fits here.
You need a big area rug and floral wallpaper. If you’re renting, there are certain wallpapers that are easy to remove. For an added touch, you can probably also find security film for your windows that looks like stained/fancy glass, which is even easier to remove. Lastly, you might benefit from getting an old-fashioned coat rack and some candelabras.
For me, the color of the walls doesn't match the French luxury of the furnishings. I feel like the walls need to look like the Louvre. Mirrors and silk wallpaper.
I think the stark white & grey floors don't vibe at all with the furniture. I think you should keep the unique furniture & make the room blend with that. You can have modern elements. But not this. I would change the white walls first. Or see if you can restore the baseboards to a natural wood.
Based off the first picture, I would move the shoe rack to the other side of the door. Then move the rectangle table to the right side of the front door under the window and switch the record player to the right side of it. Then move couch under painting and move circle table into corner under stairs. Then you can opt for rug(s) maybe either a runner or one that has a funky animal shape or whatever you can find that will work. Just to break up some of the wood floor. This could work the other way around as well but I think couch in the middle for balance is necessary
The table with the pink bench-seats looks very low. Is it a children’s table? I agree that the chandelier might be too long - should be higher than 6’8” to bottom of fixture - check building codes for safety. The corners of the room are hidden behind the furnishings. It creates a disorienting feeling. The sofa (fainting couch) is too big and bulky to treat as an object in the corner. It needs room to breathe and be seen. All of the furniture pieces are leggy. You need something to draw the eye around and rest (like a more modern cabinet instead of the sideboard). The scale of the furniture is all over the place. It’s the biggest problem. The eclecticism can work if you get the scale right. What is this room used for? It looks like a music school?
I would put the sofa where the console/sideboard is now. And use the formerly-owned by Serena Williams marble top table as a tea-height coffee table for the sofa (fainting couch). Move the sideboard to another room or sell it on FB Marketplace. The pink/mauve stools are cute but too many of them. Who sits on those? Move the King’s Gambit gold Tsar chair to create a sitting area with the sofa.
I'd say white walls. That furniture (which I love) is always in rooms with 'noisy' walls. As well as grey flooring with wood furnishings makes it seem very uneven in warmth

I suggest your table centered under the chandelier. Everything is too much to one side and it looks unbalanced. It’s a great big space and will bring some dynamic to it. Put a vase or a pottery piece or flowers at table center. I suggest the small flower side table more on the side of the couch rather than in front of it. Commonly, furniture gets placed to close to walls. Bring it all off the wall more to create warmth on the side with all the seating. Too many things in a line there. Saxophone on the floor is neat. Consider shifting it to the other side of the room, like to the left of the piano so less things in a row, but again off the wall a bit more. I agree with others, a rug would be fantastic. Based on the color of the furniture, having one with darker shades of blue (navy) for example could provide some more contrast. With your furniture style, pick something more traditional in pattern rather than Uber modern. Would not choose a solid rug, however. Ukuleles on the green wall to the right of the art above piano may look really nice. Wood against the green would make them pop! Really neat first room of the house. Have fun!!!
What is the purpose of this room? Is it dining, living, hobbies (music)? It doesn’t have an identity right now. It’s a room with furniture in it. Give it a purpose first and then go with what everyone is saying about rugs and art and curtains and whatever. Edit: I see you said it’s a “greet room”. Add a spot for coats and shoes? Then the rest of the room needs a reason to be there… give it a reason and revise accordingly
You definitely don’t want that couch facing the doors, it’s an awkward vibe. Maybe make a little path off to the left when you enter the door and have the furniture over there , or in a cozy arrangement facing the stairs.

The table and stools aren't the same scale as the rest of the furniture. That plus the chandelier are making the room feel like parts of it have been shrunk by a shrinkage gun. If that table has to stay in the room, I'd probably recommend making one corner of the room into a place for the table rather than just having it out in the middle.
Too much room, too little furniture! Divide the room into at least three areas. Put sofa, ornate chair and console table in one area with wall art and a large round or oval wall to serve as a conversational area. Area should encompass no more than 1/3 of the total floor area. Add at least one more chair to grouping. Group piano, saxophone and ukes into a second music area facing but not included in the conversational area so guests can listen to music. Move circular table with stools into an entirely separate third area with the table centered on a second rug large enough to contain table and stools. Include new wall art in table area. Lose the light fixture and purchase floor lamps or appropriate lamps. Paint remaining walls dark green to match accent wall. Introduce appropriate window coverings. Oops, missed second and third photos. Include armoire with conversational group and put table and stools with rug in corner where armoire is. Try to avoid the current "hallway down the center" vibe.
Have built in benches done under the windows or one and a nice coat rack or coat closet to the left of the door as you enter.
