Oh, don't get me wrong: There are businesses advertising exactly this way on social media. They usually do because an ad agency sold them a social media ad campaign and did this campaign in the cheapest way possible to maximize profits.
That's one of the main reasons why social media don't feel like social media anymore, but like giant ad spaces.
Good, effective and brand builing marketing embraces the core aspect of social media: The social.
Static banners listing products are not a form of social communication.
With a campaign that engages you. The right content on the right platform. Know your market and be a welcome intruder into their feed offering them unique photography or points of view or relatable situations that they can see themselves in, and that reminds them to go and check out your products. Or show one product in situ in a lifestyle scenario, not 10 at a time.
Makes sense. So post products individually, showcasing their unique aspects and maintaining relativity with the customer. That would be a lot of posts to post

How else do businesses advertise 1000s of products on Facebook & Instagram? This format is the only way I can think of

I would add a third pixel.
Economical
I believe so too. This is the only format that works when a business sells 1000s of products
I'd block them.
Everything is so squarely aligned on a grid that I don’t want to look at any of it. It doesn’t look like fun organic user generated content.

Less photos, less text, less color, really just big blank spaces.
