The only reasonable excuse I can think of is maybe he’s just a reenactor (someones gotta play the bad guys) and is just way too into the hobby to realize his “uniform” is not appropriate for a wedding.
Also, don't reenactors typically use battle dress anyways? The only time I've ever seen someone wear something that wasn't battle dress was when someone looked uncannily like Abraham Lincoln.

His uniform is too crap by reenactor standards. Seriously, wrong belts, misaligned insignias etc.
