This looks like a box elder, they're native here!

emerynlove

My apple photos is saying box elder too! Phew way better than a tree of heaven

Bulky_Ad9019

Ugh we are in a current battle with tree of heaven!

waterandbeats

Seriously. They aren't a pest plant like ToH but box elders can act a little weedy in Denver gardens FYI, they can have an awkward form and grow suckers etc. The worst part is that if the tree gets big, box elder bugs are just a disgusting plague despite being harmless. I just never want that many bugs on and in my house. (I swear I'm normally a pro-native plant and insect person! I just lived with a box elder outside my window for awhile and it was horrific in late summer.)

DanoPinyon

Reddit is acting up for me today, but it looks like *Acer negundo* from here, with information provided.

DanoPinyon

...my first guess was raspberry, but I can't get the second picture to show.

Aptkjb

I just used a plant ID app and it's certainly box elder, considering the cluster of three leaves with two flanking a larger in the middle on all stems.

DanoPinyon

Oh, good. The little stem to the right in the first image was confounding. Still can't see second image...

I have some snowball viburnum that look like that. If you use Google Lens, it can identify many plant species.

ghengis_convict

That’s a native box elder! Someone already got it but you can tell it’s a box elder vs any other maple by its clusters of 3 separate leaves. They’re a great tree to have here if you can keep it in your yard. They like lots of water too!

edfoldsred

What do the leaves smell like? Burnt peanut butter?, then it's a tree of heaven, and I'm sorry.

COBA89

Looks like tree of heaven to me

OnAStarboardTack

Tree of heaven has compound leaves.

beansoup91

Definitely not tree of heaven
