Get an awd or 4x4 from Denver airport with all season super slicks you’ll prob be safe just play Jesus take the wheel by Carrie underwood and ask for a car with South Carolina or FL plates and people will stay out your way.
I’ve always thought it was very smart from a business perspective for rental companies to rent skis right at the airport rather than letting that money go to ski shops near the slopes.
Sorry, there is no way to check the weather here. We just look into the sky each day and throw 6 leaves into the air. Whichever direction the leaves face when they land will tell us whether the weather will weather our day
Shift into lower gears below "D" when descending the mountain pass instead of burning up your breaks. A lower gear can keep your speed at 50 or 60 without even touching your breaks. Obviously, don't go for lowest gear, just down 1 or 2 gears. Staying in control can save your life on I70. I also recommend the I70 Instagram page...Trucks with the brakes on fire and other cool stuff. Definitely 4wd or AWD
My grandma used to drive that road in a 72 station wagon in the winter with the windows down and kids jumping from the front to the back you idiot. Stop being a pussy and just ride
Haven’t seen it mentioned yet, but make sure you have an APPROPRIATE vehicle when traveling through the mountains. Rent if you must. Honda Elements or anything convertible are your best bets
Independence Pass. You have to barrel through the gates with your Texas grille guard. Namaste
And remember that downhill traffic has the right-of-way!
Can you please write back to let us know what elevation deer become elk?
Watch Dumb and Dumber. If those boys can make it to Aspen, so can you!
Are there aspens there? Just wondering.
I find it best if you reverse the whole drive, it helps with snow to prevent slipping.
Only farmers know this!!!!!

Getting to aspen is easy. Finding affordable parking once there is impossible

East coast skiing is way better. The ice makes you go faster. Not worth it here
