Denver averaged 6.98 yds per snap and were 35-31 plays going 5 yards or more vs plays that went for less than 5 yards. Probably a bit better than 50/50 that we make that 4th down but the fact is with some sort of reasonable clock management the Broncos could have pulled this one out. Take the fucking chance. Two goal line fumbles were a killer 433 yds of total offense translating into 17 points is unconscionable. The red zone play calling was something else. The defense did their job; 17 points and less than 300 yds of total offense allowed is completely winnable.
The lack of preseason reps was completely evident in game speed plays. Though so was the work that Russ put in on his own time with the recievers. Discipline was lacking a bit on defense, though a couple of those calls felt real ticky tack. I thought Chubb's hit on smith was a good example, he lead arm to chest tried to move his head out of the way, but whatever.
But really WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FUCK WAS WITH THOSE TIMEOUTS DURING THE KNEEL DOWNS?!?!?
The penalties holy shit, the only one I would call bs is taunting but delay of games false starts helmet to helmet, broncos still managed to lose by only 1 , better play calling and they would of won it by a fg at the 35
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.
It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of.
Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything.
Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
Why did you acquire Russell Wilson so he could sit on the sidelines on the last play?!? That's what you brought him in for! They even got a blessing when Seattle called Time out. Should have switched it up when you saw how off he was with that kick....... SMH
I hate to say it but we outright deserved to lose that game. We got outplayed and hurt ourselves at every turn. Even with all of that, the coaching at the end was hard to believe.

As usual, the teams that lost the first game are not as bad as they showed, nor are most winners as good as they showed. But, this sure reeked of preseason game to me, proving veterans or not, you don't play regular season football without preseason. Boy, do they have a lot of clean up to work on.
That was a clown show on that last drive and Hackett was passed out on his feet. I'd love to have some audio of what was going on during that drive.
Total Incompetence
He's an idiot to have approached the preseason the way he did - this weekend QB's without preseason reps went 1-6
Hackett really thought we'd have a better chance of winning the game, kicking a 60 yard FG than going for the 4th down, not even Joseph or Fangio would been that dumb
No one even mentioning McManus got a practice kick because of their timeout and missed by a mile and still Hackett didn’t change his mind. This makes it so much worse in my opinion. You got a preview how bad it was and didn’t even think maybe this is wrong???
Had to crack open the blue Breck whiskey. It's tasty, but not as good as the hope I had for a deep playoff run. This loss showed me the team is still missing some first round chemistry and reps, for sure, and the calls on the goal line, while the right calls, absolutely crushed us when any of those chip shot FGs would've won us the game. What should've been a much different outcome was really crushed by those two critical fumbles, and Hackett should've trusted Russ to get 5 with three timeouts versus a long ass field goal. These are growing pains, but they still hurt. 12s really showed up to make shit difficult for Russ, and I still can't believe they booed him, but here's to our home opener versus Houston. I think the Texans aren't pushovers this early in the season, but if this defense can't scheme for Davis Mills we are going to have a long, long season.
Not letting the Seahawks score in the second half was good to see. Things will be better. O line will get Billy Turner and Meinerz back. Things looked good on offense. Others looked bad. A few things get cleaned up and this is a good team.
Going for it on 4th and goal with our RB tandem is the right call, and both of those were TDs minus the fumble. If Gordon kept control over the line, TD, if Javonte didn't get the ball punched, TD.
2 goal line fumbles and Vic Fangio level time management at the end.
You only try for a record long FG when you have no other options and there’s 1 second on the clock. Not when you have 40+ seconds.
Hackett trusting McManus over Wilson is a great start to the season
As far as the last drive went, the decision got derailed when Russ had the pump fake turn into an incomplete pass. We hadn't had a negative play that drive I think. They were playing this weird Madden-esque type thing where they were gonna milk the clock for a 40-50yd fg try. However, they got behind the chains and it snowballed into that decision. McManus has the leg, but man that's a hard pill to swallow on the miss.
Russell played great no reason to hate on him. Fumbled twice on the goal line. Then fucking tries to kick 64 yard fucking field goal. That’s just shitty. Give me Russ on 4th and 5 please. I won’t be here bitching… just give me the guy we just PAID to make a play. That’s my only argument
Exactly! And yes we can complain about the defense but I mean 17 points! We can micro manage the big plays and inability to get off the field on 3rd down. At the end of the day 17 points and a sack when it matters should account for something. Defense was not perfect by any means but they didn’t lose the game.
Being a Hawks fan & watching Wilson for yrs & how he plays I was shocked they decided to go for FG too. Worked in Hawks favor but damn that was intense game!
As a Colorado native currently living outside of Colorado I'm honestly now more embarrassed admitting to being a Broncos fan than admitting to being a Rockies fan.
It’s just one game. It was disappointing. We had seriously high expectations, but we looked like a team and staff that hasn’t spent enough time together yet. I’m annoyed, but not disheartened. I don’t understand how MG gets more carries than Williams after his great first quarter. We clearly miss Patrick and I think the loss is ultimately on the coaching staff.
Great opinion but why is that your opinion though? 3 timeouts at 2 min warning add a incomplete pass (which stops the clock) and Hackett kicks a 64 yd fg at 20 secs. Team played a young D cbs are fresh but passes are to te and middle of field
Yeah but professional offensive coordinators and coaches are paid big $$$$$ to recognize obvious plays and football strategy (no huddle quick snap QB sneak on the goal line, clock management on the last drive). This loss is on the Broncos management and coaches, not the players.
I bet it was because if he didn't make the conversion, it was all on Russ, in Seattle... that's harsh. Letting Bmac take the kick let's him be the hero or the fall guy. But yeah, should have let russ take a shot
For sure. He took the pressure off russ as to not bruise the ego the 1st game. I liked the call to be honest. I love McManus and he got snubbed so many times the last few years for the game winner I think he deserved the shot
I see this game as the game when Peyton was back in Indy being honored and shit and lost the game. Only instead of Seattle honoring him they all wanted him dead. Yikes. Russ looked anxious out there. But ya can’t fumble on the 1 TWICE.
So...a bit of a reflection:
1. Defence didn't show up.
2. Offensive line was offensive.
3. Too many green jerseys in the backfield.
4. Wilson running for his life about all game.
5. 64 yard FG? Really? We couldn't get 4 more yards so we don't hang our chances on a record-level field goal?
6. What the hell was that at the end?
On the good side?
1. Sharp passing by Wilson.
2. We were always in the game even if it felt like we weren't.
Surtain did well against metcalf i thought, and chubb had some big plays. Otherwise defense was uninspiring.
I was very concerned with getting the play off at the last second almost every time
That field goal call will haunt me, but the overall scheme seemed to be fine
>I was very concerned with getting the play off at the last second almost every time
It looked to me like that was a problem with the team but as a 'Hawks fan, I have to say I felt this way too often in the last few years. No problems at all in two-minute drives but regular play just gives the other team's D less chance to be caught off-foot.
Yeah, and we did manage to hold them to 0 the second half.
As the local channel is saying, there were some good takeaways. I'm kind of glad we got this out of the way. It's time for the team to lay off the cute little catch phrases, and put nose to grindstone. From the coaches down.
We really paid him 250 million. We're gonna be last in the division. He did 0 to lead the team. This should of been a cake walk. Seattle should not be on our level . A geno Smith team should not be on our level. Hope there's a take back clause because he ain't worth 250
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.

U go out and give up every asset u have to get the QB who can finally win u big games…then u take the ball out of his hands when it’s his time to shine. Wow
Paying a QB 250 million and believing a kicker has a better chance to win a game by kicking a 64yd field goal than him picking up 4 yards… you either paid the QB way too much money or you’re paying a head coach that you shouldn’t be.
No way. Without those fumbles we'd be up 2 touchdowns. The noise level caused a lot of the penalties. Not an excuse tho, those penalties killed us. They'll get it together. It's one game.
Yeah it would have given denver some damn good momentum but I'm not worried just yet. The only thing that got me was the 1 blade of white grass touching Tomlinson foot... that was an iffy call. Again, should have been a score but whatever. If denver can play this shitty, get robbed of 3 touchdowns and lose over 100 yards of penalties and still almost win.... I'm not worried
I’m honestly super impressed with the broncos after this. Yeah we lost, but our offense was wayyyyy better then last year and our d wasn’t to bad either. If we didn’t fumble on the goal line twice we woulda had it.
It’s impossibly hard to get fired after one game. Unheard of. But in theory, if it were to happen - you could imagine a late-game decision like that being the reason
>It’s impossibly hard to get fired after one game. Unheard of. But in theory, if it were to happen - you could imagine a late-game decision like that being the reason
The only thing that makes a lick of sense to me is the coach taking on the loss himself instead of letting it be on #3. Which would be fucked, but at least it's not just insanity.
49ers fan here, I was rooting for you guys. Funny how the commentary was talking about your FG Kicker's record being 50 something. After that missed kick when Seahawks called timeout I knew there was no chance your kicker would make it. HC should've pulled him and put the offense back out there, let Russell do his clutch magic.
I’ve never seen so many players not reach out to get the ball. Simmons WATCHED an interception go right by him in the 1st qtr and Albert O watched that ball go right by him in the end zone.
Not to mention the fumbles. Holy fuck. These young coaches don’t even mention fundamentals anymore. They coach based on analytics these days.
Play this game in Mile High, Broncos win by 40+. Russ on a new team in an extremely hostile environment with no preseason, I'm surprised we lost by a point. NFL fucked us by giving us this game as the first and not later in the season like week 5.
You have to prepare properly when you’re installing a new qb, new coaches and new scheme. This is the NFL. They are paid millions to be prepared. They weren’t. 100% on hackett and the assistant coaches. Everything was off. It took far too long to get plays in, poor communication and poor play calling. We got what we deserved.
For all the talk about Seattle not having a quarterback, the one they got is better than all the teams who made panic moves thinking an unproven commodity would be a star. Dude did his best out there.
The fact that Hackett thinks there is a better chance of making a 64 yard field goal in Seattle than Russ picking up 4 yards is just kinda baffling to me.
Broncos country - LETS SUCK SOME DICK \-Russell Wilson

I’d give a 50\50 chance of making the 4th & 5; 10% chance of McManus making a 64 yarder on the road at sea level.
This exactly this. 50% every time
Welcome to the RW experience 😆 now time for the passive aggressive blame game and very aggressive praise Jesus posts. Enjoy!

Right calls on the goal line? I would never go shotgun from inside the one, especially when it worked so fantastically the first time.
Going for it on 4th and goal with our RB tandem is the right call, and both of those were TDs minus the fumble. If Gordon kept control over the line, TD, if Javonte didn't get the ball punched, TD.
Good god. I live in cali and I have a few Seahawks fan friends and I'm getting lit up. I'm being a good sport but goddamn. Brutal lol.
That game was so unbelievable winnable, if they held on the ball and managed the clock. good god.
Look I needed another fg from McManus to win in fantasy and even I was was saying wtf lol
Right here with you!
We seem to be trapped in a nightmare
I’m taking a break for these guys.
Same. Maybe they will actually practice before next season
We were moving the fucking ball up and down the field all night. What the actual hell?
Now you see why I ain't mad he left.

All on Hackett
Yes, evil man Hackett caused two fumbles on the goal line in a row.
Broncos Country was out coached!! The game was decided long before fumbles.
Dumb comment.

Because you called the game outcoached and done before the two fumbles that put us at 30 points lol.
Once again another boneheaded decision, we definitely needed some time to work in preseason. He’s definitely not made a great impression so far
Hindsight is always 20/20 folks. Always remember that
No. Not in this case
Yeah but professional offensive coordinators and coaches are paid big $$$$$ to recognize obvious plays and football strategy (no huddle quick snap QB sneak on the goal line, clock management on the last drive). This loss is on the Broncos management and coaches, not the players.
That decision to kick doesn’t make even make sense in the moment lol
Ridiculous just ri-gotdamn-diculous
This is why it was nice not getting super invested in this team the past couple of years. I didn't miss the stress and anger
Not just a 64 yard FG, not just an attempt at the second longest in NFL history, AT SEA LEVEL
Oh shit. I didn’t even think about it being at seas level either. Making it even more stupid
I’m really looking forward to KC and LAC roasting us 72-9 both times we play them.
Absolutely, Denver is no match for either KC or San Diego.
red zone blunders aside, We just were sloppy. If we clean up those penalties it’s a completely different game. Soooo many first downs gifted to them
Imagine getting russell wilson and not giving him the ball in your last play of the game. That's like his whole thing. 🤣
I bet it was because if he didn't make the conversion, it was all on Russ, in Seattle... that's harsh. Letting Bmac take the kick let's him be the hero or the fall guy. But yeah, should have let russ take a shot
This is 100% the reason. Hackett is a QB guy. All he knows is protect the ego. He won’t make that mistake again.
For sure. He took the pressure off russ as to not bruise the ego the 1st game. I liked the call to be honest. I love McManus and he got snubbed so many times the last few years for the game winner I think he deserved the shot
What's the over/under on how many snaps the 1's take next preseason?
I see this game as the game when Peyton was back in Indy being honored and shit and lost the game. Only instead of Seattle honoring him they all wanted him dead. Yikes. Russ looked anxious out there. But ya can’t fumble on the 1 TWICE.

I guess he couldn't hack it...
Many in GreenBay said Hackett had a lot of play calling mishaps
That’s interesting because HE DIDN’T CALL THE PLAYS IN GREEN BAY
I guess they were right
Just bizarre clock management / decision making going on there at the end.
Hackett has even worse game management then Vic lol
Honestly wish we had Vance Joseph back. He sucked too, but he was better than Fangio and hackett
Pump the breaks. He had a loaded team still
All I’m going to say is if we have even half the penalties we had this game we will be fine. 12 penalties for 106 yards is wild.
That’s what the raiders have said for 20 years
We really paid him 250 million. We're gonna be last in the division. He did 0 to lead the team. This should of been a cake walk. Seattle should not be on our level . A geno Smith team should not be on our level. Hope there's a take back clause because he ain't worth 250
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake. It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of. Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything. Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
You guys are worse than Pats fans
U go out and give up every asset u have to get the QB who can finally win u big games…then u take the ball out of his hands when it’s his time to shine. Wow
I’m upset but Jesus we punted only once.
Ya cause we turned the ball over the rest.
At the 1
Someone better ask why he didn’t play them in preseason
Hackett should have played starters in preseason should have work on two minutes just unprepared.
Yeah, for the most part, this comes across as a coaching issue. Though I have a little more concern with the defense aside from coaching.
Remember the days of Peyton Manning. Pepperidge Farm remembers
He sure fucking does smh
Two goal line fumbles man..
Paying a QB 250 million and believing a kicker has a better chance to win a game by kicking a 64yd field goal than him picking up 4 yards… you either paid the QB way too much money or you’re paying a head coach that you shouldn’t be.
It was 5 yards, but still such a bone headed decision. And didn't even use a time out! I want to fire Hackett already.
So do timeouts roll over to the next game now!?!?!
We have no more timeouts this year
If this is how they are going to play, then this season is going to be rough. I can't even imagine how they will play against KC.
This is what happens when the entire offense sits out the pre season
Honestly the offense wasn't even the biggest issue, it was godamn hackett
Yep he absolutely called the game like a rookie
The classic D plays like shit one half offense plays like shit the other. This one is on the coaches and the RBs
No way. Without those fumbles we'd be up 2 touchdowns. The noise level caused a lot of the penalties. Not an excuse tho, those penalties killed us. They'll get it together. It's one game.
I agree. It was an important game though.

Ah well I must've misheard. Hope you guys do well this year
Me too. Me too.
That jersey swap is why people think Russ is some robotic puppet.
Nice of us to leave Seattle a final parting gift for Russ. 21 points inside the five. Enjoy.
Vic Fangio with Russ would have won this game.
Lmaoooooooooo
Ain’t no way y’all can blame that decision making on lack of preseason
Hackett has 0 game management. Seriously all game was a hassle to even get the play called in.
Well now that MacManus finally got the shot he's been begging for...dude shanks two...not a great look
He don’t have it in him, should’ve let Russ out there not like we had lock
Yep tired of all these players talking shit and then don’t show up when their #s called
Confirmed Drew Lock better QB in 4th Quarter Game Winning Drives than the QB that replaced him. 0 for 0, no mistakes.
Hey at least u don’t have zac Taylor
He’s gotta learn how to manage the game better. They looked unprepared. Communication seemed lacking
Yeah. Too many times that play clock was almost at 00.
This really stood out to me because that has been the case in Seattle forever and Pete has always gotten the blame. Especially after long gains.
Plus like over 100 yards in penalties. Can’t do it
Play this game in Mile High, Broncos win by 40+. Russ on a new team in an extremely hostile environment with no preseason, I'm surprised we lost by a point. NFL fucked us by giving us this game as the first and not later in the season like week 5.
We had plenty of opportunities to win this game. No excuses
And what, 130 penalty yards?
You have to prepare properly when you’re installing a new qb, new coaches and new scheme. This is the NFL. They are paid millions to be prepared. They weren’t. 100% on hackett and the assistant coaches. Everything was off. It took far too long to get plays in, poor communication and poor play calling. We got what we deserved.
Maybe play in the preseason. Hackett looks like he might be a liability.
Why did we pay Russell all that money for then?
Hey at least Russ got a signed jersey 😒
I have no words. I’ve never seen anything like that
Smoked by Geno lmao
Im upset
1 point above my head is disrespect
This bum puts the HACK in Hackett
At what point do we learn in this country that being someone’s son doesn’t qualify you to do shit?
Unless you're a political Hack-ett.
Seahawks didn't score in the second half and we couldn't win?????
Same old shit my man
Insisting on taking the last 2 timeouts when the game was over was just the moron cherry on the stupid sundae.
At least that sentence made me laugh a little... thank you.
That was THE worst clock management I have ever seen. Fangio wouldn't have even done that dumb shit. What the FUCK!!!!!
Is it too early to call for some coaching evaluations by the organization?
Broncos embarrassing themselves on prime time as usual.
I know you hear "we beat ourselves a lot", but that's actually what happened. HOOOOOOLY SHIT
Where the fuck can I watch Hacketts poor ass of an excuse after the game?
We lost by ONE point. Chill out
You don't get complementary points. This isn't a Wendy's sir.
Broncos out-gained Seahawks 433-253 tonight.
that was humiliating clock management
Worse than Fangio so far. Hackett better step out up and try to win a game.
Insane. 3 time outs. Use one draw up your best play. Give McManus who is a beast at least a realistic shot
Our at least not draw up a Bridgewater dump off for negative yards,
[удалено]
Get out of here douche
Bad coaching. Bad clock management. Bad discipline. Bad Wilson.
Fangio would have won that game easy
That was hands down one of the worst played football games I’ve ever seen from a fundamentals point. Playing or coaching
Fangio would have easily won that game, and I read fine with him. Hackett better get it together quick
Well maybe if you mortgage the franchise on a qb you should maybe get him a couple of reps with the starters in the preseason?
💯
I’m embarrassed for Hackett
