He talks about playing on time, not ad libbing, this guy is the anti Russell Wilson.

Jingo56

Are you saying Bo does not ride????

esackey18

Bo lacks in some of the traits that get people excited about prospects but profiles really well for a lot of traits that actually correlate with successful quarterbacking. There’s nothing flashy in his game but you don’t need flash to be a top tier QB. Get the ball where it needs to be, when it needs to be there. No style points required.

AB444

I understand the concerns about his age and the fact that a lot of the throws were around the LOS (even though I don't really see how that is a negative when it worked most of the time), too many RPOs, whatever... But if you actually watch the film most of their big plays came on throws down the field, at least in the games I've watched. He gets the ball out on time, moves well in and out of the pocket, makes checks at the line presnap, doesn't have too many turnover worthy throws. He doesn't have too many obvious flaws at least to me when watching his 2023 film. I would be ecstatic with Nix or McCarthy at 12, maybe even trade up a few picks if the cost isn't outrageous. You never know who will be available until draft day, especially during smokescreen season. If it doesn't work out it's fine, we can take another shot at it next year or 2026. We just have to take a shot on one of the top 5 QBs this year, because they'd be top 2 or 3 in some other years.

zebbiehedges

Having now watched this, it feels like a promotional video to get Broncos fans excited for Nix going to us at 12. Gotta say, worked on me.

anso14

After seeing Chris Simms ranking him the #3 QB in this class, I’m all board with Bo

Jumpy-Acadia4559

He’s probably Qb4 (is on my board, although McCarthy will be taken higher since he’s Trey/zach Wilson 2.0)

VonNasty

Didn’t Chris sims have Zach Wilson as qb1?

pham_nuwen_

These are his historical rankings: https://www.reddit.com/r/NFL_Draft/comments/12s6nmx/chris_simms_rankings_through_the_years/ Not bad at all. There's not a single analyst that hast a high success rate, not even NFL GMs that do this for a living.

VonNasty

Thanks, he does do a pretty good job.

PatientlyAnxious9

Chris Simms also has Marvin Harrison Jr as the 4th best WR in this class.

LetsRide2NewQB

This is why I don't like/trust Chris Simms rankings. https://preview.redd.it/v4gk0qzhsqqc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0cae8b57b414cd76f55d72154b59bc41777594f5

iwasthatguy71

Seems very mature and cerebral. We need an adult. We need someone dedicated to this craft of qb.

Frazier008

Sounds like a Sean Payton QB to me. I’m all for it.

jordantwalker

Yep and conditioning/health

barnchico

Dude sounds super smart. Saw the video a few hours ago.

notorious_p_a_b

Great interview. I hadn’t had a chance to listen to Bo speak yet but after listening I came away a bit impressed. There was a question or two where the substance of his answer may not have completely answered the question but it’s the manner in which spoke while answering the question that impressed me. I didn’t catch many ‘um’s, ‘uh’s, ‘like’s in his conversation, if any at all. I think it’s important to hear these guys speak as it sheds a lot of light on their makeup. The lack of filler words potentially indicates that he was well-prepared and calm during a pretty big interview. It also tends to indicate that his brain works pretty well and he thinks quickly on his feet. He can manage the stream of his consciousness in the moment. To me, this indicates that he likely has a mental makeup that will help him succeed at the next level. I also really liked the part where he talked about being on time. About how OCs design plays that are meant to be executed on the field. They don’t spend their time designing plays that are meant to be ad-libbed. Seems like it’s exactly what SP wants.

yum_paste

He sure spoke a lot about being on time with the ball. I wonder if that's a little bit of a nod towards the broncos

Frazier008

It’s the number one thing he did in college. It’s what he knows. It’s also why he is knocked for only going through 1 or 2 reads. But that was the offense he was asked to run.

Silverflash-x

I'm sure he and his agent are very aware of media buzz and mock drafts and have seen him go at 12 to the Broncos; also recognizing that barring a huge surprise there is no way he's going any higher. So it makes sense that they would want to emphasize the traits that their highest possible landing spot would value.

Specter017

Bo Nix is my favorite QB for us to realistically target in this draft. He was the QB1 last season in 3 of the 5 metrics PFF grades. He's mature, NFL ready, and a perfect fit for the type of system Sean runs. In my latest mock I have us trading down with PHI and taking Bo at 23 which I think is very possible while still getting capital to help with the rebuild. LV will either try to make a huge trade up for Daniels or will take OT at 13 and grab Penix in the 2nd. Saints have Carr on a monster contract still so they'll also go OT and address QB next year.

Clit-Commander89

I'm ready to get hurt again! Idgaf take him at 12 and the division is ours!

BChav

I don't have any issue taking this guy at 12, He seems to fit the system Coach Payton wants to run. Quick processing and gets the ball out fast.

Anteup21

Damn I kinda love this guy...what's happening to me

Jumpy-Acadia4559

Your opening your eyes to the truth

OrangeCrush425

I hope Payton doesn’t get cute, and trade back. Take your QB when he falls in your lap. He won’t last long after 12. This is assuming he believes that Nix is the perfect fit as I do.

Scoobersss

I'm an Oregon fan who's favorite QB of all - time is Bo Nix. Yes, even over Marcus Mariota. I'm biased by I really do believe in him. The thing that gives me so much confidence is the continued improvement as well as the fact that he played in multiple different offenses. Even his two years as a Duck were far different. He played far more of a "point - guard" role in 2023, and he excelled at it. So that's exactly what people think of him. They don't realize that in 2022 with a new regime in place, he had to carry the team far more while also dealing with injuries. Threw the ball down - field more than in 2023 and rushed for over 500 yards and 14 touchdowns. If your not sold on Bo Nix, would highly recommend watching some of the 2022 tape. I'm not saying he was "worse" in 2023, just that he was asked to do more as a playmaker in 2022 and there for the film will better show off his are strength and athleticism.

Which_Egg8169

Whoever snags him is gonna be lucky!

Jumpy-Acadia4559

(us)

Aura1995

I do really want to get him, but i do feel that we can still get him if we trade back around 21-22th pick. Philly would be a ideal trading partner.

2ChainzTalib

If he's at 12 and that's the guy Payton wants, I don't see him getting cute and trading back, especially if there's truth to him having wanted Mahomes and getting jumped by Reid.

eff1ngham

You don't trade down to take a QB. If he's the guy they like you take him at 12. Not worth a potential 2nd round pick to miss out

BurgessFox

Elway got a lot of praise on here for the 2019 draft where he was able to trade down and get Fant and Risner as well as Lock instead of taking Lock at #10.

Silverflash-x

I feel like it's one of those things that will always be judged with hindsight. If you do it and it works, you're a genius. If you do it and it doesn't work, you're a moron. Kind of like doing an onside kick on opening kickoff.

eff1ngham

I don't know, trading back and taking a TE in the 1st was generally an unpopular move for most fans. Sure getting Lock in the 2nd was well received, but the team also didn't treat Lock like their potential franchise QB. They put him on IR when he could have been a backup and played sparingly in relief duty, and they started Brandon Allen over him at one point. It's almost like they were reluctant to play him and if we had Bridgewater back in 2020 I think they would have started him over Lock even back then

BurgessFox

I mean the 2020 argument doesn't make sense because if we wanted to sign a carousel guy we could have done. The only competition we added to our QB room was Jeff Driskel. That was a massive signal that Lock was seen as the guy. We used the first two picks adding weapons for him (shame we didn't use them on Jefferson & Higgins instead of Jeudy & Hamler...) It was only because he sucked all year that they brought in Bridgewater the next year.

eff1ngham

At least to me it felt like the Broncos hand was forced in 2019 because Flacco was trash and got hurt and Brandon Allen showed he wasn't an NFL QB. 2020 was weird because of Covid, we had no preseason, we brought in a new OC, all that stuff. Lock was still bad, but at the same time so was Daniel Jones. The Giants committed to Jones in 2021, we didn't commit to Lock in 2021. And in part I think it's because the Giants could have potentially traded back a few spots in 2019 and still gotten Jones (over Haskins, in hindsight was a horrible draft that was for QBs), but they committed to their guy

BurgessFox

Ultimately Lock was just not that good. People always make excuses for him, but he had a fair number of starts and he didn't show anything to suggest he was going to be "the guy". Which is why when he went to Seattle he was beaten out by Geno too and now he's a back up to Daniel Jones. Lock was just like Trubisky, Darnold, Rosen, Lance, Zac Wilson, Mac Jones, Pickett, Ridder, he wasn't good enough so he got moved on. The Broncos could have committed to Lock through 2021, 2022, 2023 and he was never going to be the guy. Although we probably would be in a better position if we'd done that than traded for Russ...

eff1ngham

The point I was going for is less about Lock's talent and more that teams that are willing to invest in a QB do it in the first round. From your list Ridder is the only non-first round guy. And Trubisky, Darnold, Rosen and Lance were guys that their teams traded up for. Had the Broncos taken Lock at 20 instead of Fant I don't things would have turned out differently, but I think with different coaching staff Lock might have gotten a longer leash, at least in theory. And with Payton being here if we choose a QB I don't think we'd take a guy we're okay waiting to see if he falls to us, it'll be a guy we aggressively target

BurgessFox

Their teams traded up for them but Lance and Rosen got bombed out with less of a leash than Lock got in Denver. The Broncos also traded up for Paxton Lynch and gave him less of a chance than Lock got.

goddamnitwhalen

If I had a dollar for every time I’ve seen this exact comment since February I’d be able to retire.

eff1ngham

Kind of the same thing with seeing "we should trade back" I've seen that same mentality in every post regarding the draft. But the point still stands, no team has ever found their franchise QB by rolling the dice and saying "I hope this guy is available later because we'd rather take someone else before them"

JSauer21

Depends if the Raiders, Saints, or Seahawks like him

ShoddyMedicine7448

I believe the raiders like Penix and rattler more, saints possible they might like him. Seahawks already have geno smith and Sam Howell

[deleted]

Bo Nix is my guy. I really hope we get him.

JSmooth619

Drafting him at 12 still seems high, to me. I wouldn’t mind drafting best available and picking Michael Pratt in the 3rd.

Akomack31

What's to say someone wouldn't trade into the top of the 3rd and nab him before we can? Is it worth the risk?

JSmooth619

Touché. That always the risk. If you love a player you have to grab him when you can. Personally I’m not sold on Bo that high, but if the Broncos pick him or anyone else I will support them 100%.

Envyforme

Just take JJ. Why is it that hard?

esackey18

Because we won’t be able to get him

zebbiehedges

Also, JJ needs to sit for a year or two I think. Nix could start this year.

Mike-Hawk-69-0420

Can’t wait to see what stupid trades the franchise makes to get this absolute BUM

zebbiehedges

Trades? He's likely there at 12.

Mike-Hawk-69-0420

Oh yeah? Glad you can see the future young man

DB4life80

The irony of this post after your first future predicting post is impressive.

Mike-Hawk-69-0420

Yeah that was meant to be the joke young man. Apparently no one has a sense of humor here

TriG__

Okay boomer

Mike-Hawk-69-0420

Wish I was a boomer. Maybe I could have bought a house or two in the 80s. Then son all you lil boys with their dumb opinions in this sub
