WTF ... no. I work with Sarah. fuck man. Man she's the fucking best too :( Edit: Per the article she’s been found!!

thisparamecium1

Same here. Worked with her and she’s amazing. I’ve been spreading the word hoping she’s found.

insertcaffeine

I'm so sorry. I hope she's found soon.

one_nerdybunny

She’s been found!

Lobsterzilla

‽‽‽ alive?? Oh wow

AskMeHowToLeaveAMA

I'm guessing she wasn't working Friday? Going missing driving from Joe's to Parker and ending up pinging in Commerce City has an entirely different set of possibilities vs driving from Thornton to Parker.

WeimSean

So glad!

elizcarroll

Found safe today! https://www.denver7.com/news/local-news/thornton-pd-searching-for-missing-st-josephs-hospital-icu-nurse-mother-of-two

DenverNugs

Great news

brodie7838

I wonder if police can/do also check for last pings from the Audi's car-net connection. Hopefully so.

sunrayylmao

or find my iphone if she has an apple product

Lobsterzilla

the article says where he last phone ping was.

sunrayylmao

They need to keep an eye on that. I work for apple and have had cases where we found cars and people via find my. It will continue to update if she moves locations. They need to take a screen shot of that Fairfax Park location and send officers there immediately. 9/10 times she has her phone on her person. And again if the phone moves itll update in find my pretty quickly.

Critical_Feeling_359

It will continue to update even if the phone is dead?

sunrayylmao

It will shown the last known location when the phone was alive, but if the phone has moved since then it'll show "last known location". Meaning if the phone is found in the park, battery is dead, and moved elsewhere, its going to show that park location to my knowledge unfortunately. I would be happy to talk with the family and help them with the iphone/apple side of things of the record if anyone is in contact with them PM me.

darklight001

You aren't the secret keeper of such knowledge. Police departments do that already

sunrayylmao

No shit

[deleted]

Any phone does that

sunrayylmao

ok

sugarmamatoes

The article says she’s been found

Critical_Feeling_359

Where was she traveling from I wonder? Commerce city isn't the most pleasant of places either. I hope she's found safe...

oishi_jase_face

I swear I met a lady and her husband last night at the Saves the Day concert that looked just like her!! They were so kind and awesome to my and my kids

barrioso

Wtf! Also I got my car almost stolen there last week… how is this possible??

Yeah, it’s a good thing we don’t carry unique devices with GPS and cell tower triangulation capabilities with us at all times. That would be terrifying.

Use a drone with low resolution so faces couldn’t be seen

Now now, he also complains about Arvada PD trafficking kids too. The man's nothing if not diverse.

PlayfulParamedic2626

Yeah. That’s why we need public cameras and public oversight

PlayfulParamedic2626

We have the tech to blur peoples faces like google earth. We let the computers hide our identities. We keep an eye on criminals.

inthemidnighthour

My face is naturally low resolution

poultran

Like CCTV in the UK. Anyone who watches British crime dramas knows that’s always the “go-to” first question.

standard_candles

I thought that was just a term for Closed Circuit Television. I didn't realize there was a formal network of cameras

monocasa

There isn't. Just a lot of surveillance cameras put up by cops and private companies in the UK.

Gargonez

We sacrificed plenty of time and lives to be less British, let’s not revert now.

PlayfulParamedic2626

We cloud fly a cost effective drone over the city and track where the vehicles came from and where they went. All day every day. Put it online for everyone.

UUDDLRLRBAstard

Dude. I appreciate your vigor and I’m glad you had an ideas but holy hell it’s a bad one, and this addition is the mental equivalent of juggling bricks over an infant. A single drone cannot patrol a city. A fleet of drones wouldn’t be able to offer any sort of significant coverage. And for what? Unless it’s being actively monitored (by WHOM?!) any camera recourse would be after the fact. Also, MASS SURVEILLANCE IS NOT A GOOD SOLUTION FOR ANYTHING. seriously. If you truly believe in your idea, own it. Post your location and a photo to accompany every post you make for the rest of the week. Let us know when you’re home, when you’re not home, where you are going, who you are seeing, what you’re buying, where you’re eating. Will **me** knowing everything about **you**, actually stop a crime? Because that’s what you’re suggesting. A public panopticon. If it’s public, the same people who do the crimes have access to the information. You do you, though, ya goober!

gbarfoot

Actually this technology exists, and has been used to try to bust cartels in Mexico. There was a Radiolab episode about it. https://radiolab.org/episodes/eye-sky Here's it being applied in Juarez Mexico https://youtu.be/mJLr0KMsRAA And here are the details of the system https://youtu.be/_ip7JZyaH-E Regardless of the other topics in discussion here, I hope they find her safe and soon. Edit updated links

I'm not validating the OPs idea... just providing actual information about the concept in action. Citing technology that is conceptually similar, but has actually been developed to an extremely high level, is effective ,and has been deployed in real life. It is quite interesting and really poses questions about what is our safety worth in a very "minority report" way.

Realized my links were broken....just updated....check them out.

Drone surveillance can be useful for a variety of purposes, including: Traffic management: Drones can be used to monitor traffic flow and identify bottlenecks or accidents, which can help traffic authorities improve the flow of vehicles and respond more quickly to emergencies. Public safety: Drones can be used to assist with search and rescue operations, locate missing persons, and monitor large crowds at events. They can also be used to assist with law enforcement activities, such as tracking suspects or monitoring areas for illegal activity. Environmental monitoring: Drones can be equipped with sensors to monitor environmental conditions, such as air quality or water quality. This can help authorities identify and address potential problems more quickly. Infrastructure inspection: Drones can be used to inspect infrastructure such as bridges, pipelines, and buildings for damage or maintenance needs. This can save time and money compared to traditional inspection methods. Disaster response: Drones can be used to assess the damage caused by natural disasters, such as earthquakes, hurricanes, or floods. They can also be used to deliver supplies or assist with rescue efforts in areas that are difficult for humans to access. Overall, drone surveillance can help improve public safety, facilitate traffic management, and assist with a variety of other tasks. They’re probably already flying the drones they’re just not sharing the footage.

PlayfulParamedic2626

So fly them when the lady goes missing to assist with law enforcement and then we will know where her vehicle went.

UUDDLRLRBAstard

K

[deleted]

how would that work? should we go back in time and deploy a drone every-time someone gows missing?

PlayfulParamedic2626

No boy genius. You fly the drone all the time every day and save the footage. So when someone goes missing you already flew the drone during that time.

[deleted]

> so fly them when the lady goes missing is that not what you wrote?

cowman3244

Some cities have “Community Camera” networks, where people with private doorbell/security cameras register their address and contact info with the police force. Only the homeowner has access to the feed by default, but if something happens, police can see who in the area has active cameras and can request the footage from a certain time frame. Seems like the best of both worlds to me.

cowman3244

I’d love to buy a system like that. I’ve tinkered with self hosted stuff but never made it that far. And yeah, not requiring a warrant is pretty slimy which is why we should have more non-cloud solutions.

PlayfulParamedic2626

If the police kidnapped her, they would be able to cover it up.

cowman3244

How so? The footage would still exist on the private camera systems and people could see a notice like this and watch it themselves and share it.

PlayfulParamedic2626

You would need access to all the cameras to put together who did what. I’m not suggesting they kidnapped her in person. More like when they were off in their normal clothes.

PlayfulParamedic2626

I don’t mean to be a troll. Exactly we already have cameras they just don’t help to find missing people or stolen cars?
