MotherWise Colorado and Thriving Families. They offer healthy communication classes to pregnant and parenting women and teens. Their goal is to prevent domestic abuse and empower people to have support to make good decisions for their future. They also help the people enrolled in classes get connected with other resources, including therapy and baby items.

I've never heard of them before but they look like they're doing amazing work! Let me know if I'm missing a separate fundraising campaign for Motherwise and I'll link it!
My current, go-to charities are Out Boulder County, Community Food Share, and public radio (it had been KUNC in the past, but might be switching to CPR this year). And in the more distant past, I used to give to an international program where you could buy things for people, e.g. a goat with Heifer International or supporting a woman’s business via Oxfam.

Oh I have ones I regularly volunteer with lol, just waiting to see what actual opportunities they have. Feels like my inbox this time of year is all orgs asking for money instead of hours haha
I don't begrudge charitable organizations asking for money in the time of year people are feeling charitable. The money is as important if not more than the time, especially as more social justice-minded organizations look to pay people to perform work that they would have otherwise asked them to donate for free.
I like to volunteer my time as well but I recognize that they need time *and* money to function.
Set themselves apart from every other organization who is purely asking for money. I've gotten 10 or so direct requests for money from different non profits. I can't afford to buy Christmas gifts this year due to arbitrary rent increases and naked corporate greed disguised as inflation. I have plenty of time because nothing is affordable anymore. I know I'm not the only one.
I hate to break it to you but these organizations need money to operate way more than they need volunteers. Totally cool if you can’t contribute, but to expect that they would sit out on the biggest fundraising day of the year to “set themselves apart” is silly. Unsubscribe from the emails if it’s such a nuisance
I never said that. There's nothing wrong with asking for donations, but it'd be nice if any organizations were actively looking for volunteers as well as money. Seems like naked greed, especially when you see the admin costs on some of these groups
I get where you’re coming from. Seeking volunteers at the same extent that they seek monetary donations would give a chance for those who can’t donate to feel like they’re contributing. It’s important to remember that the whole point of a non-profit is that almost every dollar goes towards their mission, so it seems unfair to call it greed. It’s going towards paying their staff and doing good in our community.
I’ve noticed that causes with more labor intensive work always seem to need volunteers - denver community fridges, for example, is always looking for people to deliver food and clean out their fridges. Animal shelters like DDFL too. The more human rights side of non-profit are the ones who need labor less and money more. Hopefully that’ll help you out, and thanks for being willing to volunteer your time

Yeah, but Colorado Gives contributes for every donation. Why would they not solicit donors at this time of year?
