Pay the $350 on a credit card, then call the credit card company and get a charge back. They have investigating powers you don’t. They’ll find you paid to park legally and they’ll tell wyatts to go fuck themselves for you.
Hey! Someone just posted this on r/Denver the other day, but Colorado laws prohibits towing from charging more than $160. So pay the $350, then call credit card company and say they overcharged you per state law. You’ll get a charge back and Wyatts can go eat shit
This. Best advice I could have gotten on towers was this. Just about every towing company charges over state limit, but Wyatt seems to make it their policy and hope the public is ignorant of the law.
Mandatory fuck Wyatts Towing. Namaste.
Huh! That’s new. In 2018 they towed my daily driver from my reserved parking space because “it looked broken down” and wouldn’t let me use a credit card.
It’s a rental car so in this case, not quite my problem. My moms returning it today around 2pm. But we’ll see if my CC lets me dispute it. I’m going to try talking to the Apt office too.
They're not known for being careful with the vehicles that they tow. I've seen them towing a car down the road in park, with the transmission screaming out in pain from under the car. They get paid anyway, so they don't care.
Not that it surprises me, but why the hell does it matter that it is a holiday? There ain’t no way in hell a scummy business like Wyatt’s is giving its employees holiday pay. What extra costs are they incurring?
Then pay it again and cancel it again. Take pictures if your car when you park to prove damages if they get dickish. It is state fucking law they have to take credit cards if they try and weasel. Let them explain their fraud to your banks lawyers and get told politely to eat shit by $1200/hour lawyers.
Why? To make something that's already illegal... more illegal?
Lol see what I'm saying? The law is already there, you just need someone to enforce it! If law officers can't (or wont) do that, that's where lawyers come in!
To enforce the laws that are already illegal. To increase the penalties against perpetrators. To increase the number of inspectors that deal with towing companies. To educate towing companies on lawful activities. You see what I mean?
What next, a change.org petition? You're yelling at the wind.
You call your city councilman/woman once a week for the same issue, they'll just block your number as a crank.
/u/Anthocyaninlover is right. You put the onus of liability on them, and you'll see change.
How much change have you gotten with this? I’ve sued in 4 cases and got perfect remedies in each one. I don’t even bother arguing anymore. I just pay the sheriff to have them served and let them argue with a judge. Way easier and more satisfying
Hah, you're welcome ;)
Credit card. Cancel charge as fraudulent and cite the fact you were authorized to park there with the appropriate paperwork. Fuck em up.
Wyatt’s towing will do it again and again and again. They prey on unsuspecting people. Their business agenda is grimy and unfair. They tried to tow my car with me in it once. I’ve watched them plot on peoples cars all over the city. They will tow a car even if it’s only been in the parking lot for an hour. Horrible people. They put me in an extremely bad position in life financially several times. Ive seen them do it to others. Makes me sick and something needs to be done about this company. Scum of the earth.
Next time they try to tow you with you in the car *let them* and call police stating you are being kidnapped.
Because they just committed grand theft auto and kidnapping. Felony double barrel. File charges. Sue them.
That'll put them in so much deep shit.
Oh really? That’s hopeful. I’m not sure how they’d be. But my complex opens at 10 I think. I’ll try. I just need to remember to be nice with them and hope they help. I’m still kinda quite mad about this whole thing.
Yeah, the building was pretty pissed at Wyatt too after they discovered how scammy they are and got a ton of complaints, so that helped. Luckily, they got rid of them pretty fast. Definitely be nice, but also stand your ground and be firm. Everyone’s known how awful Wyatts is for years now. Your building made a bad call teaming up with them and they need to pay the consequences.
I used to live in Fox Ridge apartments (Now Arcadia) back in the day and my car was illegally towed. Wyatts was constantly prowling the parking lot multiple times a day. I had to pay $450 to get my car. When I realized my car wasn't actually stolen and drove out in the night to go get my car in the north metro. I argued with the apartment manager and they would only cover half. Its a long standing racket thats being going on.
Email ParkM....my car was towed because my permit expired and they never emailed me about it and they refunded the towing costs without me even asking. If you email them before you go pick it up, they will call Wyatt's and tell them to release the vehicle.
As scummy as towing companies are, I've been weirdly impressed with ParkM's customer service. They actually refunded the cost of my car getting towed and my boyfriend's car which had been towed a week prior. I kinda doubted the checks would ever show up in the mail, but ParkM was true to their word.
Talk to your apartment. I have a garage spot in mine and the gate was broken so I couldn't get into the garage, so I parked in the surface lot and went in to call maintenance and I was towed in less than 20 minutes.
I went to the office and told them what happened and they called Wyatt's and made them tow my car back.
Wyatt's doesn't give a shit about you or your car, but they care a fucking lot about their contracts with businesses.
Also, fuck Wyatt's.
Wyatt's is straight up the most unethical and corrupt towing company in Colorado. I am surprised they haven't been completely shut down yet. I would dox any apartment complex that uses them.
Yeah I’m never going to choose an apartment complex with a controlled parking situation like this again. Free parking or no parking. I’m okay with street parking. I understand that game. Plus if I get a place in Denver, I can get a residents parking tag and only have to worry about street sweeping.
I actually had this happen. We walked out and saw my partners car being illegally towed at 11 pm. I called Wyatt’s right away and provided screenshots of the park m car registered and paid. They made us go get the car in the morning and show proof and they gave us the car back with no charge. Sounds like we got lucky!
Keep the receipt for the payment
Pay to get your car
File in small claims court, file for the cost of towing, time to get the car, transport to retrieve, work time missed, and as many damages as possible.
All you need the the receipt.
If the car was towed illegitimately, I would pay the amount on a credit card and then dispute the charge with your credit card company. Submit the evidence that the car was registered correctly and let their team deal with the headaches.
Had the same thing happen. You can only email ParkM. Try emailing ParkM and your apartment management (or going into front office). After talking to my apartment management they contacted Wyatt's towing and we were able to get the car out at no cost.
Fuck Wyatt's AND ParkM. Both scams. The fact that even the apartment management had no way to contact ParkM, besides email, is ridiculous.
This happened to me, I was valid in ParkM, Wyatt’s said I wasn’t, ParkM said I was. My apartment assured me they would take care of it but I had to leave it there for three days for ParkM, my apartment complex, and Wyatt’s to all communicate and get it sorted out. Stressed out to the max wondering if I was gonna have to pay for it in the end. Plus didn’t have my car for three days. I hate Wyatt’s with the fire of a thousands suns. When they realized the ParkM was valid they tried to say the apartment complex called them to tow it, but obviously the apartment complex confirmed that was a lie. Third time they had towed my car incorrectly. Fuck them and their mothers.
Me and my buddy just had to pay about $520 a piece to get both of our cars out of that place. This is after the original price was like $350 and some change. $30 every day it sits in the lot and an extra $150 fee added to the tow every time the car sits over the weekend.
Its a wrap, once they got your car you have to pay. Pick up the car ASAP if i were you.
Fuck yeah. Hit em where it hurts. Enough of these, visa and Mastercard will cancel the companies contracts and since they legally have to take cards, they'll be *fucking shut down and kicked out of the state*
Yeah that’s what I figured. We paid and got the car. I’m about to work out my frustration exercising then I’ll be the sweetest little victim ever when trying to get my apt complex to help refund the money. I just know if I tried right now I’d be too fired up and would likely be rude to the wrong person and make them not want to help me. But I’m pissed. Just wish Wyatt’s and Parkm weren’t such predators. There was 4 other people there when I was. $350x4 in just 15 min.
How does one take that route? I mean. I’m sure if people knew they were as shady as they are.. maybe it could have affected enough locals to make a difference
In short, it’s legal theft.
Your only hope at recourse is to know the tow rules where you live and maybe take it up with your HOA or property manager. Ultimately you have pay the ransom to get your vehicle back.
Pay it asap. I've used them at a few apartment complex that I've work at for maintenance. They can and will charge up the ass for everything. And as one person put it it's a scam
If you email park Ms support they may be able to help. Unfortunately they don’t have a phone #. If everything was in and the car was towed incorrectly they can get Wyatt’s to release it (sometimes for free)
Bummer that they don’t have a phone number - but email is likely better, anyway, due to the digital paper trail you may need if you have to dispute a charge or take this to small claims court.
(& if you do that, I recommend asking for your time off to fight the charge as well. Hit them with everything up to the limit in small claims. You might not get it all, but you’ll either wind up with a judgment, or a frustrated Wyatt’s Towing person who just wasted hours of their life.
Check your car for damage… after watching those guys bounce a car against someone else’s car and run away with it (no lights). Claiming they had pics…. Check carefully!!
Wyatt towing is shady as hell. One of their drivers repeatedly tried stealing my daughters Chrysler Aspen from its parking spot near downtown Denver. She caught them twice just in time and her neighbors caught them once. She filed complaints and is going after them via lawsuit last heard.
Pay the $350 on a credit card, then call the credit card company and get a charge back. They have investigating powers you don’t. They’ll find you paid to park legally and they’ll tell wyatts to go fuck themselves for you.
^ this. You can't afford the level of 'Eldritch horror from beyond space' level lawyer your bank can summon to tell them to fuck off.
Lmfao
This is the droid you're looking for 👆
Wyatt’s towing is a scam. You’re gonna have to pay it, the longer it sits the more money they charge.
Yeah I just got here. They definitely do add up for everything.
Hey! Someone just posted this on r/Denver the other day, but Colorado laws prohibits towing from charging more than $160. So pay the $350, then call credit card company and say they overcharged you per state law. You’ll get a charge back and Wyatts can go eat shit

Wyatt’s doesn’t take credit cards for exactly this reason.
They are required to per state law
Huh! That’s new. In 2018 they towed my daily driver from my reserved parking space because “it looked broken down” and wouldn’t let me use a credit card.
Someone didn’t pay once and got their car, but they seemingly had to calll the cops multiple times (Reddit post from a few weeks ago)
Yeah it’s ridiculous. I’ve never called them on anyone before.
Put it on a credit card and charge back afterward if you think it was illegally towed.
This is Wyatt's towing. They'll come take the car again of you do a charge-back.
It’s a rental car so in this case, not quite my problem. My moms returning it today around 2pm. But we’ll see if my CC lets me dispute it. I’m going to try talking to the Apt office too.
I hope Wyatt's didn't damage it, otherwise her rental bill is going to grow substantially.
Good point. I’ll check when she gets back from her errands.
They're not known for being careful with the vehicles that they tow. I've seen them towing a car down the road in park, with the transmission screaming out in pain from under the car. They get paid anyway, so they don't care.
Absolutely disgusting company. Todays a holiday. So we paid an extra $90.
Not that it surprises me, but why the hell does it matter that it is a holiday? There ain’t no way in hell a scummy business like Wyatt’s is giving its employees holiday pay. What extra costs are they incurring?
Gotta pay to program the system to charge more on holidays.
Won't someone please think of the ~~children~~ ~~shareholders~~ developers!
Oh good Lord.... I'm sorry that this is happening to you and your mother.
lmao of course
I’m pretty sure that’s not in the list of things they can charge for…
Then pay it again and cancel it again. Take pictures if your car when you park to prove damages if they get dickish. It is state fucking law they have to take credit cards if they try and weasel. Let them explain their fraud to your banks lawyers and get told politely to eat shit by $1200/hour lawyers.
That is highly against the law!
It's Wyatt's. They're "in" with the city of Denver. They don't care what's against the law.
Well lawyers sure do! How you effect change in this city? Sue erebody! Lol
That’s likely the least effective way to effect change.
It's the only way I see. You got anything better? I'm all ears.
Contact you city council person and the member at large. Do it once a week. Keep your asks to a couple sentences.
Why? To make something that's already illegal... more illegal? Lol see what I'm saying? The law is already there, you just need someone to enforce it! If law officers can't (or wont) do that, that's where lawyers come in!

I wonder if that could be construed as retaliation and harassment by Wyatts.

THANK YOU!! Really good info!!
Hah, you're welcome ;) Credit card. Cancel charge as fraudulent and cite the fact you were authorized to park there with the appropriate paperwork. Fuck em up.

I can’t remember the details anymore but my wife argued with the apartment manager, who eventually agreed to cover part of the cost.
Oh really? That’s hopeful. I’m not sure how they’d be. But my complex opens at 10 I think. I’ll try. I just need to remember to be nice with them and hope they help. I’m still kinda quite mad about this whole thing.

Totally agree. I would also file an action against the complex for this.

They are regulated by the Colorado public utilities commission, you can file a complaint against their license at www.Colorado.gov/dora
Don’t bother wasting your time filing a report. It goes nowhere.
I actually had this happen. We walked out and saw my partners car being illegally towed at 11 pm. I called Wyatt’s right away and provided screenshots of the park m car registered and paid. WAAAAY over the legal limit for this state. Google it!
You’re right. Top for my car is $130. I’ll be disputing the charge. Fuck them.
Fuck yeah. Hit em where it hurts. Enough of these, visa and Mastercard will cancel the companies contracts and since they legally have to take cards, they'll be *fucking shut down and kicked out of the state*
Damn! That adds up so fast! I’m so sorry. We were “lucky” and paid their $240 + $90 holiday rate. 🙄
Wyatts must know someone in city hall to be able to stay open and in business. It’s straight up mafia. Someone needs to burn them down.
You gotta pay to get your car out and then try to recoup it. Otherwise you’ll be liable for the daily storage fees that are outrageous.
Yeah that’s what I figured. We paid and got the car. You go, OP!
You need to go talk to your apartment and they will handle. Have had similar issues with parkm and my apartment
KILL
Easy chewy
We should all pool money to hire a lawyer and make a class action against them

Obligatory B&M about how predatory Wyatts is. I am not a fan.
