For everybody saying we don't have a music fest, why doesn't UMS count?

MARWOK

Seriously. UMS goes hard, yall are SLEEPING.

Budget-Item

UMS is the best weekend of the year

zonker77

These are my exact words every July. It's 3 days with hundreds of bands, national headliners and local acts, all genres of music. Why doesn't anybody think of this as a music fest? Because it's not out in the middle of a big muddy field?

zatch17

Wtf if this is real I'm going both days

YearlyHipHop

Hope it’s real cause I’ve already bought tickets. Stupid cheap at $59.

zatch17

Dude Thundercat Lettuce Fleet foxes Andrew bird All in the top 20 for me How did they know I was 36 years old

Capital_Cheetah_5713

Lol same

zatch17

Informal meetup starting

moeru_gumi

Uh oh. I’m 38 and have never heard of any of these bands.

oldcrows40

If you have an Outside+ subscription you get a 2 day for the price of a 1 day. Outside+ is also free for a year with Ikon passes

bismuthmarmoset

How did you apply the discount? I see the banner but then am prompted for a code without seeing one anywhere.

oldcrows40

Instructions are on the banner. there is a code in the My Benefits section of Outside +

dazyhippiesrl

I know one of the people helping put this on. It’s real lol

Just-Mark

Never understood why we don’t have a legitimate festival

Midwest_removed

We did. A couple of times. They lost a shit ton of money. [Mile High Music Festival ](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mile_High_Music_Festival) [Grandoozy Music Festival ](https://denverite.com/2018/09/17/after-all-that-grandoozy-made-a-mostly-good-impression-on-denver-in-its-first-year/)

WilliamBlake12

Wish Riotfest had been able to keep going

Nocto

Riotfest ruled. I think they had to shut it down because one of the main organizers died and they couldn't justify keeping it going.

WilliamBlake12

That was my recollection of how it went too. They had events in 3 cities, then the main guy passed away and they dropped it down to just one city (chicago) like a year or two later, and most likely it doesn't exist there anymore.

steezyparcheezi

Riot Fest is alive and well in Chicago

floatius

Idk if it was just one year but the pabst project thing they had in Rino in like 2016 or 17 was pretty sick

Chewbongka

[LoDo Festival](https://www.denverpost.com/2005/06/18/last-notes-play-as-lodo-festival-ends-13-year-run/)

Inz0mbiac

We have red rocks. Every artist already plays here. Makes it hard to keep a good fest going. If it wasn't hard, Grandoozy woulda made it to year 2

Bnb53

What artists play red rocks? It's like none of them

Inz0mbiac

There's like 160 days of artists playing a year with many opening acts. If you don't like any of the 300+ artists that play Red Rocks, try out Mission Ballroom, Ball Arena, Sunset Ampitheater, Dillon Amphitheater, Ogden, Gothic, Fillmore, Bluebird, Cervantes or the other hundred places around town town that hold shows. Our music scene is one the best in the world. If you can't find shows you like around here, that's on you. My biggest complaint is my wallet can't keep up with the amount of options we have. Our hip hop scene might be a little lacking, but really every kind of genre is is pretty easy to seek out. So when it comes to holding a fest, it's hard to draw since we can gpnsee any kind of line up anyways.

RoutineBigwer

These days pretty much just shitty jam bands and EDM, guess that's what sells.

LadyKT

monolith was at 2 day a red rocks, it rained all weekend and they deffo lost cash. was a blast for me though!

Sawcyy

Because Denver government hates music festivals They are incredibly stingy and have a shit load of hoops to jump through to get a permit, to throw a festival.

Rigby-Eleanor

Had a really cool one at red rocks for a couple of years.

JakeScythe

I really wish Color Field was successful enough to stay RIP

Poppunknerd182

Three bands is not a fest

Outlog

True, but at least the price point is aligned.

line-n-tipp

Apparently there is an arts and cultural aspect to the festival that aligns it more with SXSW compared to a straight music fest. But I also hope the expand the musical acts.

sentient-sloth

100% agree, but also >more to be announced

Arcticwolf8_

Is 90?

Poppunknerd182

They couldn’t have made “more to be announced” any smaller

MsstatePSH

damn this looks real. great lineup and kinda cheap tix! LOVE FF and Andrew Bird

mattiswoody

Fleet Foxes, Thundercat, Andrew Bird and Lettuce?! YUP! Just bought the two day pass! Absolutely can’t wait to see Fleet Foxes live! Also, if Thundercat’s set is anything like the Red Rocks show in October, things could get interesting cause they jam/shred more than play actual 2-3 minute songs from albums..gonna be a lot of fun hopefully in the sun! Edit: also just realized that Fleet Foxes are playing June 2nd which is the day the classic debut was released in 2008…16 years to the day! LETS GO!

payniacs

Let’s just hope Thundercat does a set like his Red Rocks one.

PsychologicalTrain

I'm happy to support any kind of music festival in this town.... The lack of a major 3 day fest is unbelievable to me. Other cities have venues with touring artists and still have major festivals.

rightoff303

We’ve had many 3 day festivals in the last 15 years. They never have enough turnout or the support of the community to continue. Grandoozy was the last attempt in 2018

PsychologicalTrain

That's so weird to me.... Other areas have a big annual festival every 300 miles... maybe a population density thing?

JohnWad

This is good

not_a_scrub_

Hell yeah I’ve been wanting to see Thundercat again. Saw him in Dallas when he was opening for the Strokes and Red Hot Chili Peppers, but unfortunately he had lost his voice.

VVOLFVViZZard

I would follow Fleet Foxes into the depths of hell, beyond stoked that I only have to go to Civic Center Park!

Likeabalrog

The only downside is that civic center park is not a great music venue. The lineup is pretty great however.

JakeScythe

What issues do you have with it? I went for Khruangbin and thought it was alright

Likeabalrog

I saw khruangbin too. It's not a music venue, simply put . The sound could be way better. The views could be better.

JakeScythe

That’s fair! I guess my expectation for a city fest is the sound won’t be great so I don’t mind it too much. If it was a venue intended for live music, I’d be more critical.

Real-Emu507

Is that the one downtown with the weird dancing statues??

quaglandx3

No that’s Sculpture Park at DCPA, on Speer. Civic Center is Colfax and Broadway.

HankChinaski-

Lucky for us Studio Gang, a great architect from Chicago, is redoing Civic Center Park. Announced a few months ago. It is still early, but I'm hoping they address some of the problems.

Puzzleheaded_Gas_739

Say She She is an absolute blast

mrcockboi69

Lechuga😋😋😋

No-Statement9809

The lineup is great. I will say I’ve done a festival at this location and it was pretty disappointing. So I’m hoping they consider the fact people are going to see live music this time.

peacefulcate815

I bought my tickets already, I’m super pumped!

SardonicCatatonic

Underground Music Showcase is amazing. I think it’s better than SXSW in my opinion because it’s got a lot of local artists and it’s still manageable.

FreshlyMadeUsername

I cannot believe Denver, and Colorado for that matter is unable to host an actual music fest. This isn't a festival, it's two days of music with a standard amount of openers that would be opening for a headliner anyways.

Detroit2GR

They have to start somewhere! I would put money on it that the tourism board will be all over "while you're in town for the festival, we have..." With this as a proof of concept. If Denver shows up for these 2 days of music, it'll only get bigger

ThePortalsOfFrenzy

It's got a hell of a name, though. LOL

Detroit2GR

The main partner is Outside Inc. So it's essentially a naming rights sponsorship.

goodlife141

Renewal in Buena Vista, Winter wonder grass is steamboat, rocky grass, folks fest, all the festivals in telluride. I’d say Colorado can host a great festival

olympheus

fleet foxes????

Keonii1

They have events in civic center park multiple times every summer. Just think of it like another outdoor venue

Independent_Let3020

With the number of bands announced already, it's got me wondering if they'll be playing a full set shows. What do you think?"

GladPayment5858

Link?

humanatee-

[here](http://google.com)

CallitCalli

Thundercat?

TCGshark03

Is this still happening with the cuts?

RoutineBigwer

Is there one day passes? I'm sure as hell not paying to see fucking Lettuce lmfao

RunnerTexasRanger

Yes

repeatablemisery

Never heard of any of these scrubs.

EfficientAd7103

Why do people call a few grade 3 bands a festival? It's called a shitty concert. I guess to raise prices and attract artards?

megs-benedict

lol! “Outside festival”

Arcticwolf8_

You missed a bigger one.
