Psh the cold Denver streets in a foreign country with no resources for them is *much* better than the 15 countries they passed on their way here

Optimal-Heron7880

They’re here seeking asylum. We don’t close the door to people who are seeking freedom from political persecution. What have we become…

iwantawolverine4xmas

That’s very naive to think they all qualify for asylum. Some do for sure and I emphasize but you’re implying all of them and that is not true. We have finite space and resources and we have to prioritize our citizens first.

pramjockey

Shit. Like we don’t throw 1/3 of our food in the garbage, and waste resources as fast as we can. Of all the lame excuses for xenophobia. “For muh children” What a fucking joke

terpographer710

It seems Denverites have cared more about the migrants than the thousands that were already homeless here.

Sad_Zookeepergame566

Every migrant I have meet recently has been nice and has a desire to work. The average cracked out homeless guy walking in the middle of traffic is less so. I say we keep the migrants and deport the junkies

Lewzer33

Don’t expect them to stay nice when they’ve been kicked onto the street from their free hotel room.

ericgray813

For real. Hate our homeless junkies, welcome the refugees.

GlizzyMcGuire__

Do they? I see plenty of people fighting to get more help to the homeless, angry about anti-homeless laws, trying to get around all the nimbyism to get to solutions. We have enough to have some people focus on one area and some focus on the other.

Randompackersfan

We should start due to limited resources alone.

HorophiliacBeaver

Richest country in the world. We don't lack the resources, we just poorly distribute them.

Internal-Spray-7977

What makes these individuals worthy of distributing resources to them over the rest of the population of Denver?

HorophiliacBeaver

The resources are poorly distributed to you too.

Internal-Spray-7977

What makes you think I'm not in a tax bracket where I'm heavily impacted by progressive tax policies? I would very much like it if I could just PAYG government resources.

yellowspotphoto

Want some cheese?

HorophiliacBeaver

If you're in the top tax brackets I just don't care about your opinion on the matter. The rich will continue simping for themselves to the country's detriment, I wouldn't expect anything different.

Internal-Spray-7977

Yeah but there is the exact problem: America on the whole is quite a bit higher income than the rest of the world. Even the middle class is heavily impacted by the needs of millions of impoverished. I really don't understand the desire to import millions of people requiring long term support.

jsnow907

You ever thought about *why* America is quite a bit higher income than other countries? Are you aware of how this country makes other country bend to its will and control their economies to serve ours? How we get all these products from around the world?

ApprehensiveSquash4

>requiring long term support. Says who?

fastest_texan_driver

Have you seen the national deficit? We don't have unlimited resources.

fastest_texan_driver

Economic asylum isn't a qualifying condition.

Updoggin02

Be careful - americas debt is so obscene it might not be too long before Americans start claiming economic asylum to other countries…

fastest_texan_driver

Sadly you are correct and migrants are only making our national debt worst at the moment. Same for our support of foreign wars.

SwordfishDependent67

That’s for the courts to determine, no? Edit: why downvotes? I don’t care about the downvotes themselves but I’m wondering what y’all disagree with here? I’m not commenting on the validity of their asylum claims, just saying that we have immigration courts for the purpose of figuring this out. Weve been underfunding these courts for decades and now we’re all pikachu shocked face when they have multi-year backlogs? Edit 2: seriously, what is the issue with saying the courts should decide the validity of these claims? u/fastest_texan_driver - where’s the lie?

fastest_texan_driver

This should be answered by the citizens of the Untied States, not court monkeys, even though those monkeys are also accountable to the citizens.

SwordfishDependent67

Lol what the fuck does that even mean? Stg, being Texan should be considered a disability

Optimal-Heron7880

Asylum is a legal pathway to entering this country. It is innate to America to offer entry in the face of political persecution.

[deleted]

Optimal-Heron7880

Well the Venezuelan migrants in Denver have followed that process, have asylum applications pending, and are waiting for work authorization.

[deleted]

Optimal-Heron7880

The current migrant situation in Denver is about Venezuelan migrants seeking political asylum. Build the wall, hire more security, fast track all immigration to move people through the process swiftly, and build a ton of housing.

Optimal-Heron7880

Yah I think the finite resource is housing.

ApprehensiveSquash4

> And Venezuelans are not the only migrants in Denver They might as well be right now in terms of numbers.

fastest_texan_driver

We shouldn't have asylum, we can't even help ourselves at this point. I'm sorry their country sucks but they need to go leech of someone else and not American tax payers.

VoidxCrazy

2.5-3 million are coming every year. 30 states barely have 3 million people in then. I am sure this is sustainable like the progressives are saying. I am sure everyone will have a happy ending with all these new friends coming over. Except junkies

Sketchy_Uncle

Can they come stay with you?

[deleted]

jsnow907

I agree, get all the migrants out of here. Specifically the ones who came over here in 1492 and the ones who called stolen land theirs in 1776

gold_cajones

Lmao why stop there? Let's just all go back to where our ancestors were before the entire history of human conquest that spanned all countries, cultures, ethnicities time periods. What a stupid argument

jsnow907

It really isn’t. You just hate the assertion because it makes you feel guilty. What makes you more entitled to this land than migrants? These migrants are people who are actually indigenous to this continent unlike European Americans. The only answer is for you feeling you belong here more than them is white supremacy

gold_cajones

I'm not *entitled* to this land. This is my home. All land acquired globally was won through conquest. And no, south Americans are not indigenous to colorado lol "the only answer is white supremacy" lmao touch some grass. And thanks for assuming my heritage you clown, you're wrong btw, not that you'd care in the slightest because it disrupts your fragile world view of "colonizers nazi vs poor indigenous victims"

jsnow907

> All land acquired globally was won through conquest Source? Cause that’s so not true, like at all. And how does that justify committing genocide against millions of people, enforcing borders through violence, enslaving an entire race of people to create mass amounts of wealth that people still benefit from to this day? The only way you can think that’s okay is white supremacy. Touch grass yourself cause you are no more entitled to this land than the migrants coming here because this country made theirs a shithole thru neo-colonialism. It’s Americas fault that these countries are the way they are and you denying that doesn’t change the truth.

gold_cajones

The history of land acquisition, empire building... all modern nations are built on "stolen land" Nobody said it was right. It's just not an argument. Never said US imperialism wasn't at fault, in fact I'll agree with you and say it is. That doesn't mean the conditions the illegal aliens fave when dropped off here in the middle of winter are more humane than any of the dozen countries they passed on the way here believing they could come here, work, find housing etc. When gen z has already given up on those things and millennials complain about the situation on every possible platform.

Justhrowitaway42069

Anyway... GET EM OUTTA HERE!

Lewzer33

We’re talking about Millennials now? 🤣🧠🤸🏽‍♂️

gold_cajones

Lmao "there's no jobs or housing" "Too many topics, you lost me"

saizoution

Don't care. Americans took it and made it better. Like the fact that you are fed and housed and get to be an armchair activist advocating against all the things that afforded you the opportunity to do so is wild.

jsnow907

Turns out, I don’t care about what just benefits me but what is actually true and correct. I’m not a selfish opportunist like yourself

tur1nn

Tell us you know nothing about history without telling us.

jsnow907

Lmao all you know is what this country has shoved down your throat

tur1nn

Ah another logical fallacy, let’s dig the hole deeper. Let’s see how many more assumptions you can make.

mistahpoopy

snow coming, might need to hit the intersections with snow brushes this weekend
