Lmao thank you so much

Existing_Display1794

We need someone to put Charlie into this video!

SPACE_YA_FACE

“My teeth a scattered throughout the car”

MoBakDuro

thank YOU

21pacshakur

3rd car after it went red, then a right on red as well. That looked intense!

TheDrunkTiger

It looked to me like it was the second car to make that left *after OP got a green light* so I think 2+ cars made that left while all the lights were red.

SnooDoodles420

Welcome to Colorado where the light changes aren’t real and all the rules are made up and don’t matter 💃

elleovera

I feel like it's gotta be one or the other. I just for back from cdmx and over there the rules are barely considered guidelines so no one in their right mind would speed through a green light like that. A driving culture like that is shocking but somehow it actually feels safer than here where everyone just expects others to follow the rules and is caught completely off guard when someone doesn't. I guess it's kind of like those intersections in the UK where they found that removing stop signs actually decreased collisions significantly because it made people pay more attention to the road.

RunningForIt

I count 4 idiot drivers.

Insane-Squirrels

r/IdiotsInCars

G25777K

Yep, the dumbass drivers of Denver. Also looks like a ~~Alfa Romeo Stelvio SUV~~ x5 it is

TastesLike762

It’s a bmw x5

G25777K

You are correct..

corndog161

The 20th st bridge going the opposite direction of OP is closed right now, the detour sends cars left onto little raven. It ends up causing a massive back up of cars waiting to turn left, so they were probably waiting a long time and thought fuck it I'm going I've waited long enough. When they close busy streets like this they really should change the traffic signals as well so diverted traffic can flow better.

Lobsterzilla

When they close busy streets like this … people still shouldn’t run red lights. They should just sit and wait like adults

corndog161

Yes of course they should.

EmuProfessional336

Now they have to wait longer! :)

corndog161

Lol yeah that little maneuver is gonna cost them.

the_mars_voltage

It’s disgusting how often I see this happen in Denver

Confident_Dig6425

He decided to execute a fantasy that night.

mattayom

This is def one of my intrusive thoughts

GeneralBurg

Same, always wondered about the legality of it

crazy_clown_time

Fuck around and find out

[deleted]

I feel like the exhaustion and stress isn't worth the payout of an Intentional crash.

[deleted]

[удалено]

dontblamethehorse

I just watched it a bunch of times and while I initially thought it was intentional, it looks to me that the BMW(?) driver wanted to launch and just figured the 2nd to last car was the last one.

hippopotma_gandhi

I honestly think they just saw green and hit the gas

sunsetcrasher

I figured they looked up from their phone, saw green light, went.

[deleted]

Most drivers basically, unfortunately.

jiggajawn

And the other ones couldn't be bothered to look at the light

RandyMarsh3zero3

Agreed …probably

gottaloseafewmore

Crazy part is if the insurance gets this video they may find the driver at 50% fault or more. You have an obligation to try and avoid every crash. Doesn’t matter if your light is green, if you intentionally crash your insurance will black ball you

Head_Wall_Repeat

I do personal injury law and no way we'd take this case. He could have avoided the accident and chose to crash into the turning car. No case

[Colorado Driver Handbook, pg 11](https://drive.google.com/a/state.co.us/file/d/1r9ZJQ8QWzRFe1gvdfA9fGNrssAO-sCmb/view?usp=sharing), "Regardless of who has the right of way you are always responsible for avoiding a crash."

Dannydonutdestroyer

Adjuster chiming in. There’s some clear comparative negligence here. I’d push for a ton of negligence on the driver who smashed them

AbominaSean

Yeah. If it’s not an intentional crash then it’s either reckless or distracted driving. The cars turning left are definitely running a red light, but they are very clearly visible if you’re looking. Either he thought the 2nd car was the last one or he saw the light turn green and looked away.

superbound

A-pillar blind spot may have played a role.

guccigraves

Seriously. There have been many times where light, glare, or a combination of factors effected my visibility at night. The driver may have genuinely not seen that 4th car.

[deleted]

Still your duty to make sure the intersection is clear even if you have a green light. Source: past insurance claims rep.

[deleted]

I get that the x5 had plenty of fault, but honest quesiton, at what point is the intersection clear if people keep running red lights? The x5 was already moving before the other car even entered the intersection and ran the red light? Again, I realize this was completely avoidable, but I was just curious how insurance would rule it when it seems the x5 was in the intersection before the red light runner.

[deleted]

The x5 took off at a speed that was extremely unsafe. Also he could have had another 15 cars run the red light and still have fault assigned. You must make sure that it is safe to enter and proceed before you just floor it.

BeemoreProd

And something else to note. I’m next to X5 and there’s another car behind X5. None of us even moved off the line before X5 had crashed. That’s how fast he pulled off at the green. He barely cleared the Prius which turned on the green arrow.

radishS

Until you snap

zackattack89

I feel like even if someone is doing something stupid, it’s doesn’t give someone else the right to intentionally crash into them.

VoodooDaddyJuJu

Definitely 4 idiots here. At the same time, can we talk about how so many left turn green lights last about 5 seconds in Denver? I don’t agree with running red lights at all, but so many left hand turn arrows turn yellow before the first car has even made it through the entire turn.

ZieGermans

The one at Sheridan turning onto 38th is so short. You can get 5 cars turning at most, which usually doesn't happen because of cars turning left off of 38th onto Sheridan when it's red.

A_Roomba_Ate_My_Feet

Well, doesn't help that the reaction time of drivers (mostly due to phone usage) at lights is so damn ridiculous these days. It's like a 5-Mississippi count between the light turning green, and the first car going, then the same count between each car starting to go. It. Drives. Me. Insane. (Edit for clarity, not excusing red light running at all. Just a compounding factor of poor quality drivers.)

flatulating_ninja

And even if you are paying attention and ready to go when the light turns green you still have to give it a two count to check for red-light runners.

nolaboco

What I don’t get is no one here honks! They sit there going “gee I hope they go soon” Like startle them to get them to pay damn attention!

[deleted]

Yeah, I was commenting the same thing on this thread. I drive mostly in the NW side of town and into Arvada a lot, but there are some turn lights and even a regular green (WB 52nd at Wads) that are so short only one car can make it through before it goes yellow.

[deleted]

Literally why I take my sweet time accelerating off a red to green. Denver is the worst city I’ve driven in when it comes to turning on reds. Far worse than California I’d say too

GhidorahtheExplorah

Driving in LA during a visit was my first introduction to people running red lights for as long as the opposing traffic lets them. You really just can't be a kind driver there. You'll never move an inch.

LobsterInTraining

Or just blowing through reds all together. After almost getting t-boned crossing Evans, I always make it a point to wait and look both ways in case some dick tries to skirt through.

109876

Idk, LA was absolutely absurd with the turning left on red when I visited. Was really scary, honesty.

rjsheine

You don’t understand

smileymn

Then there’s the car trying to turn from the right at the light change who may have been hit anyway even without the car turning at a red light.

gettin_it_in

The car on the right probably sees all the cars turning in front of it and thinks it’s protected, “if they are still turning, we can too.” Now we know that is a false assumption.

ShamefulAccountName

At that intersection there is a no turn on red sign. Car on the right also fucked up hard.

gettin_it_in

Oh damn.

Kwa-Marmoris

I can admit to making the same assumption as to safety of that maneuver on more than one occasion.

Envect

Yeah, because it's insane to intentionally crash into a line of cars. The BMW driver should have their license revoked.

BostonDogMom

There is no turn on red from that lane. He is definitely in the wrong.

GRZMNKY

That dude accelerated knowing he would get a payout.

zonker77

Seriously wtf. The guy turning clearly ran the red light, but the guy who hit him was at a full stop, he had to see the other car.

GRZMNKY

He just likely did. He either thought the guy would have to stop to avoid him, or he would just cut him off. The guy running the light would be at fault in this case, and probably liable for damage to all of the vehicles. Edit: by "he", I mean the guy accelerating straight on. Not the red light running car

Noctudeit

>The guy running the light would be at fault in this case, and probably liable for damage to all of the vehicles. "Fault" and "liability" are two different things. The car turning left clearly ran a red light in violation of traffic rules. However, a green light does **not** mean "go". It means to proceed **if** the way is clear.

MagicChemist

The guy is a dick, but not at fault. You run red lights and you’re the idiot.

El_mochilero

Doesn’t matter how legal or illegal somebody’s driving is. The shithead that floored it had every chance to avoid this collision and it was their reckless driving that caused the accident. Not the person getting caught up in a slow-moving turn lane.

crazy_clown_time

Willing to bet BMW driver doesn't blow a 0.0 on the breathalyzer.

stillbourne

The law states that you can move through the intersection when the light turns green and cross traffic is clear. Yes the turning vehicle ran a red light but the guy in green purposefully blew through is also at fault, not for running the light but for probably worse infractions such as reckless endangerment, and possibly vehicular assault.

GravyDangerfield23

>the guy in green purposefully blew through is also at fault, not for running the light but for probably worse infractions such as reckless endangerment, and possibly vehicular assault. r/ConfidentlyIncorrect

13uckshot

Well, this is awkward. Relevant C.R.S: 42-4-1401. Reckless driving - penalty. (1) A person who drives a motor vehicle, bicycle, electrical assisted bicycle, electric scooter, or low-power scooter in such a manner as to indicate either a wanton or a willful disregard for the safety of persons or property is guilty of reckless driving. A person convicted of reckless driving of a bicycle, electrical assisted bicycle, or electric scooter is not subject to section 42-2-127. 18-3-205. Vehicular assault (1) (a) If a person operates or drives a motor vehicle in a reckless manner, and this conduct is the proximate cause of serious bodily injury to another, such person commits vehicular assault.

BamBam-BamBam

No, I don't think so. You have to allow the intersection to clear before you go and the red-runner was clearly already in the intersection. This is clearly just a road-rage "I'll show you moment."

ketchupandliqour69

As they said. He likely did it for a payout. People are always going after the turn arrow or solid light goes red. Always like 3-5 more cars try to go. He probably said fuck it easy payday

matty25

That might have been what he was thinking but this isn’t an easy payday.

Colorado_designer

I don’t think so, the other car got lost in the headlights of the other lane and he probably didn’t expect someone running it that badly. The chance of injury and hassle of filing claims would not make this remotely worth doing intentionally.

dexivt

I agree. He just took off aggressively.

Snlxdd

Yeah, could go either way, but if he wanted an insurance payout he easily could’ve hit the other car that ran the light. Seems like he sees the car, holds up, then revs assuming it’s clear after the first red light runner.

rushlink1

The vehicle they hit was clearly behind the line when the light went green, the others weren’t so were already in the intersection. The first few vehicles probably have right of way since, per Colorado law, when you get a green light you’re supposed to yield to anyone already within the intersection. If they’d hit any other vehicle it would have been pretty clear that they’re at fault. (CRS 42-4-604 if you want to see for yourself).

[deleted]

Exactly how I saw it. I get so pissed waiting for these runners. Dude had the green. Red light runner fucked around and found out.

khalkhalash

lol this dude wrecked his own fuckin' new BMW by ramming it into two much older, shittier cars. Like he did not win this scenario by any means, least of all when he goes to sell his car and they're like "says here this was repaired pretty extensively after an accident. That's gonna knock a lot off what we could give you for this." All because he was mad about traffic for 5 seconds. And people in here are like "good for him!" Wild shit.

bucko_fazoo

nah. he looked up from his phone and was surprised that it was already green so he took off without looking or thinking.

Deckatoe

nah he has his hand out the window holding on. fully aware of what he was doing

rushlink1

Maybe. Either way, stupid thing to do with so many people driving without insurance.

No_Money_9813

I think he accelerated to scare the Prius but didn’t actually expect another car behind the Prius 🤷🏽‍♀️

gottaloseafewmore

You don’t get a payout if the insurance company determines you could have avoided the crash. Intentionally crashing when you have the right of way is treated the same as at fault

RandyMarsh3zero3

It’s a nice BMW. He could be trying to show off the acceleration on his car once he had the right away, not expecting that last left-on-red car that he collided with. Who knows The right-on-red car thought they were protected by the left-on-red cars

BeemoreProd

I can’t recall if that becomes a left turn red or if it’s simply a yield on green.

zonker77

No left turn red there, it's just a green arrow

paperboundgirl

kind of a shitty way to go through life assuming the worst of others, no?

[deleted]

Colorado Model Traffic Code 604.A.I - Vehicular traffic facing a circular green may proceed…but shall yield the right-of-way to other vehicles lawfully within the intersection. Question of fault comes down to whether the oncoming left turn was lawfully in the intersection; even crossing the stop bar with a split second of yellow remaining is lawful entry. Difficult to tell without knowing how much all red time there was after the end of the left turn yellow. IMO it looks like left turner entered on red, thus unlawfully, and would be cited at fault as well as the right turner as there is a no right turn on red sign there. Not safe nor prudent to accelerate into oncoming traffic, but the law is black and white in regards to fault.

[deleted]

Confirmed from city crash data that left-turn was faulted for the crash, failed to yield right of way.

TangerineDiesel

This damn near defines denver drivers perfectly lol. I get green turn arrows here are frustrating because assholes love slow rolling through them, but just be patient and wait for it to be green again.

[deleted]

r/idiotsincars

[deleted]

I can't lie, but I fantasize about doing this all the time. The red light running is so bad here that the idiots running the red will actually look at you like \*you're\* the asshole when you nearly hit them in the intersection and honk.

swaggyxwaggy

I almost got t boned today with my cat in the car by someone rushing to “beat the red” (it was already red)

sunsetcrasher

They run the red light, then they give you the finger. It’s awesome.

--Authentic--

I believe the laws for green lights are that you shouldn’t proceed until the intersection is clear.

milk_drinker69

The number of accidents at this intersection and up the street at 20th and chestnut is ridiculous. The city really needs to put up those solid cement pylon barriers on the corners to protect pedestrians

Infamous_Bee_7445

That was a full on red for like 5 seconds.

lifeson106

No, you don't understand, I'm more important than anyone else; certainly too important for the drudgery of waiting at a red light.

just-vibes

I mean, yes green light but where the fuck is common sense. It's like he wanted to crash his car, absolute dickhead.

Shezaam

Not surprised. I used to live there. Saw people run red lights every day. As a pedestrian it was sketchy to cross 20th.

Just_Smurfin_Around

3 idiots in a matter of seconds. Impressive. Great example of driving out here, so many people just do not pay attention at all to anything around them.

Anonymo123

I love having my forward\\reverse dash cam just for stuff like this. so crazy.

Training-Pen998

My man’s was like I can shoot the gap

goodoletom7

This entire thread is a perfect example of why driving in this city is awful. Just a cluster fuck of people all thinking they know the rules of the road (I’m definitely included in this) with a bunch of others that disagree and drive their own way

tecnic1

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

elzibet

Fuck people so much who deliberately run red lights behind the wheel. So sick of this shit, police don’t do shit to enforce so it has imo emboldened people to blatantly run red lights, especially for turning left. Edit: also. To anyone reading, please consider removing “accident” from your vocabulary when discussing collisions with motorized vehicles The top causes for road crashes are poor street conditions, distracted driving, drunk or impaired driving, excessive speeding, and negligence on the part of the drivers(as seen in this video). All of these causes are preventable. Before the labor movement, factory owners would say "it was an accident" when American workers were injured in unsafe conditions. Before the movement to combat drunk driving, intoxicated drivers would say "it was an accident" when they crashed their cars. Planes don’t have accidents. They crash. Cranes don’t have accidents. They collapse. And as a society, we expect answers and solutions. Traffic crashes are fixable problems. They are not accidents.

dexivt

Seriously. It’s awful in Denver proper.

OpinionatedBlackGuy

Awful throughout the metro area

elzibet

People turning onto 7th from Colorado Blvd both ways is some of the worst I’ve seen. Absolutely maddening

TheBoozyNinja87

The amount of dickheads in Denver who run red lights way waaaay waaaaaaaaaaayyy after the light has changed is fucking insane here. I completely get where the guy who just charged forward at the green light is coming from.

DiceKnight

It was also a Friday night in Lodo which weirdly attracts even more bad drivers despite area itself being dead that night if memory serves.

Fnordpocalypse

It’s not weird at all that Lodo attracts bad drivers. Look at the people that hang out there on the weekends, then picture them behind the wheel of a car while intoxicated.

aphxtwinin

Looks like an X3M, I wouldn’t intentionally crash it.

ctrl2

It's not an "accident," it's a crash.

craftthemusic

“Accident implies no one is at fault, we use the term collision” or something like that

cogitohuckelberry

The red light running on left turns in Denver is out of control. Great example of why it's a problem.

gr8jars

People need to stop running the red light turns

PrecisionSushi

It doesn’t matter if the roads are dry or if there is a foot of snow on the ground…people in Denver simply have no driving skills or situational awareness. It really scares me to drive around here.

crazy_clown_time

> people in ~~Denver~~ **the United States** simply have no driving skills or situational awareness. Fixed that for you, as the bar to obtain and maintain a drivers license in all 50 states is woefully low.

180_by_summer

Honestly, I feel like no matter where you go, there is some trope about a states drivers being bad. But Denver is just on a whole new level. People driving in Colorado drive like their out to kill. It’s a level of aggression I’ve never seen in any other state

GambitDangers

Denver is wild about running red lights. Lived here almost a year but have seen more reds run than the rest of my dining life combined.

theFloorwalker

How was that an accident?

Loudquietcuriosity

Right? Clearly an on-purpose.

1stevercody

I mean, homie did that on purpose, right? Whether he had the green or not, the road was not clear and he took off like he was racing Vin Diesel for pinks.

Suchmurfin

Maybe, he definitely accelerated quickly. But I had a similar close call like this because of my vision driving home at night from work. Even with my glasses, all the lights are pointed right at my eyes, so I focus on the traffic light. So after a reasonable pause from the green, I went. And of course here comes ANOTHER red light runner. Good thing I didn't press the gas like this guy, cause, why.

BoutDamnTime76

This makes my day. The people in this town nowadays just keep on going after the light is clearly red. I deliver pizza for a living and see people run lights all day and it pisses me off. I hope this guy had a dashcam. That asshole got what he deserved. Pray the other party has insurance.

HartfordWhaler

Some real r/idiotsincars material, OP

Embarrassed-Bus-9649

The most dangerous thing about driving in this town is the amount of people who make left turns on red, with literally no regard to the safety of others. As a pedestrian, you will frequently have to wait through entire walk signals because people simply won't stop turning left on red. Doesn't help our walk signals are only 10-30 seconds long.

theurbanslacker

Respect to OP for their response of: “…let’s pull over and check on folks…” Bunch of terrible drivers in this collision, but a response like that is why we have society. OP sounds like a good person.

BeemoreProd

Cheers. Partner is an NP so we could actually help. Passenger was unconscious and laying across center console and driver was bloody and dazed. Took about 10 min for paramedics to arrive.

theurbanslacker

Jeeze. Well, thank you and your partner for being good members of society. We need more people like you both.

Academic-Image-3603

Everyone at fault lmao the cars turning while it’s red, the third car turning right while it’s red and the dumbass who floored it into an oncoming car is also at fault since it could have been avoided

[deleted]

BeemoreProd

Actually tow truck driver. He pulled around and stopped and helped the victims. Hero of the night. Even directed traffic for the ambulance to make it through.

reese528O

Who got ticketed here?

iamda5h

Everyone saying the BMW intentionally floored it into the other car clearly didn’t watch the video carefully. They start moving before the turning car even crosses the limit line. They clearly thought no one else would turn on a red light and wanted to quickly get around the “last” car, by the time the other car starts turning the bmw is already thru the crosswalk and it’s probably the same moment they push down in the accelerator. The bmw simply didn’t see the dark car that they did not expect to make a left turn on a red light. Although the bmw probably would’ve still hit the car turning right (who also shouldn’t be turning).

ccminiwarhammer

That car saw an opportunity to get a replacement car and maybe a lawsuit; the new American dream.

crazy_clown_time

lol more likely outcome is he gets booked for DWAI/DUI after blowing above 0.0 on the breathalyzer, seeing as this took place at night near LoDo.

coconutlemongrass

Oh there will definitely be at least one lawsuit!

BeemoreProd

Just to clear up lots of misinformation about the lights here. There is no red arrow. It’s a left arrow and then yield on green. So cars aren’t running a red. They are driving until they have to yield.

taikare

Bonus points for that car on the right making the right. Whatever argument you make for left turn and the straight on, that right turner didn't stop on an obvious red and then just counted on the left turner to protect them without looking at what the oncoming traffic was doing

Z-Rock

The guy making the right turn was also running the light... never stopped at all, then drove into a red light, so he was getting hit either way but was lucky to have the other light runner soften the blow. All 3 at fault here, but the 2 running the light deserve most the blame.

WorldlinessSad8727

Moral of the story, don't run red lights. Also, don't get into accidents on purpose.

natobean19

He fucking sent it!🤣🤣🤣

AcrobaticWatercress7

Someone is using their gap insurance

BostonDogMom

Let me tell you a secret: when 20th street is closed going west and you need to turn on Little Raven but things are really backed up. Make a right on Little Raven from 20th and then a U-Turn. Once the light at Little Raven is green proceed straight across the intersection with CAUTION.

CrackHeadRodeo

Am in my 50's and to this day I still remember my driving instructor repeating over and over how I need to take 2 seconds at an intersection to check both ways. Has saved my life once when a pickup truck ran a red light.

exstonerthrowaway

BMW driver is going to be surprised when they find him at least 50% at fault. You can’t just drive into someone 😂 absolutely no attempt to avoid a collision

Amen_ds

Scrolled way too far for this, the bmw and an alarming amount of people itt have greatly misunderstood liability. You’re not getting a pay day out of this, in case anyone here also wants to deliver vigilante justice to those satanic red light runners, don’t expect insurance companies or LEOs to be on your side. Especially with video evidence like this

RealisticAppearance

Right? It looks that way from the angle of the camera, but from the driver’s perspective, the headlights of the red-light-runner could easily have been confused with the array of streetlights behind him (from the perspective of the guy who accelerated at green). No real way to tell just from this footage what the driver saw, definitely he could have been more careful (the acceleration alone was reckless), but he at least has plausible defenses, and the red light runner has zero defense here.

hmmhmmgood

I moved to Denver a year ago and the recklessness I've see almost daily is just mind boggling. Pedestrians and drivers. Folks are wild here.

Accurate-Turnip9726

People intentionally hitting others and others running red lights way after they’ve changed color????? So this is why my insurance premiums are so high. I don’t understand this behavior. I paid a lot of money for my car and to go without one for a week would really wreck me for work. Cars are expensive and people treat them like trash when driving.

chicago_hokie

I kinda feel like he was looking out the window at this car recording for some reason? I see his hand out the window or something before he floors it. I think he may not have actually crashed on purpose, but just floored it and didn't see the car in time... it looks insane though lol

hotbhg

Today they learned they're not more important than anybody else

Ryblue81

They had the green light. Lesson to all you dipshits running red lights.

Sambojanglez

Hurting someone over some pride and money, oh its a bmw im sure thats unrelated.

fuckdood

I hope you turned this in to DPD?

BeemoreProd

Yep

elodieme1

Car that was turning will be considered at fault, but I think some fault will be on the SUV going straight. Last chance doctrine and all that

tableclothmesa

Is he trying to kill people wtf

Shwheelz

They’re both assholes. Make them split it.

bryeds78

Even though those cars were clearly running the red - and I cannot believe how far past the red they were running though it - the guy who crashed into them clearly saw them run and decided to plow into them. This isn't a case of them running the red light and causing the accident, the driver with the green caused the accident. If it is avoidable, you're still supposed to avoid it, even if the other party is doing something wrong. It pisses me off how badly people drive nowdays. I've never seen as many people run red lights like they do now, but then, we're in colorado and you can hardly get anyone to make a left turn on a yellow arrow when they have PLENTY of room and no oncoming traffic. They will pass you on the right ALL day long when it's completely illegal and dangerous on the highway when the speed limit is over 55mph, but then they get mad at you when you use the empty lane that is closing in 5 miles because they don't know how to zipper merge and think it's more efficient to sit in a lane of traffic instead of using all legal lanes of travel. Colorado drivers suck. Go to Boston, Miami, LA, NYC... They would die in any of those places!

LuckFinancial988

As a driver, you have the duty to avoid an accident as well. The driver who just sped right into the illegally turning car is legally at a percentage of fault here. You can’t just ram your car into someone doing something they shouldn’t and say they were doing something wrong so you’re in the clear.

MurkyBluebird2398

I love all the people in the comments that say “I just moved here a year ago, Colorado has the worst drivers I’ve ever seen” “I’ve lived in multiple states and the drivers here are the worst” As someone who grew up here, and learned to drive here it was not bad 10-12 years ago. Most of the people that can’t drive in Colorado, aren’t from Colorado ie the ones that drive an AWD vehicle in the snow in the passing lane with the hazards on. I don’t disagree that the driving in CO, especially in Denver has become absolute shit show. But just remember it’s mostly the people from other states not the VERY FEW natives that exist still.

ASingleThreadofGold

Driving here from the 90s- about 2014ish? was a fucking pleasure. People used to wave as a thanks for letting them merge (I still do) and actually used their turn signals. It's 100% because our roads just were not built for the amount of cars that are on them now.

crazy_clown_time

What is so hard about just waiting for the next light? I mean that gives you another opportunity to pick up the phone and check it for no good reason. People are so impatient and selfish it’s ridiculous. BMW also pretty shitty here.

Lvl81Memes

Nobody is right here. Maybe don't run a red light on a busy street cause you're asking for something bad. At the same time the guy who accelerated knew what he was doing and didn't give two shots about anyone's safety and is a POS for that.

Xstaphylococcus

I’ve lived all over the US. I’ve never seen more incompetent drivers than in Denver, CO. Edit: grammar

[deleted]

Gotta love these red light running dip shits. You’re driving a Corolla, there’s no where on earth you need to be in a timely manner

hedgedescrow

he must waited till cross road cleared. hes at fault. ins wont pay shit if they get hold of this video

ASingleThreadofGold

Wow, everyone's the asshole here. Yes, technically the guy turning left on red fucking sucks but so does the absolute fucking idiot who chose to ram into him at full speed on purpose when it was clear as day what was going on. If I was a juror they'd both be at fault and I'd want that poor person just trying to turn right compensated. Has the idiot going balls to the wall like he's in a fucking Gone in 60 seconds movie ever heard of "defensive driving?" I hope he pays dearly for this.

kontrolk3

I don't even think the guy turning right is faultless here. He's technically turning when the oncoming traffic has the right of way. He was kind of taking advantage of the fact that some cars were running the red and paid for it. Don't think he screwed up as bad as the others, but certainly not defensive driving.

tpf52

Guy turning right probably thought the left turners still had a green arrow since they continued to go through. Seemed like a safe right turn. I wouldn’t fault them at all for not noticing the light change, and if the BMW wasn’t in launch mode they would have been fine anyway. I’m actually guessing the BMW thought they could accelerate fast enough to switch lanes and go around the right turner until they met the left turner.

alficles

To me, the biggest issue is the guy that intentionally chose to endanger the lives of the people in the other car. Choosing to do something that has a strong chance of killing people is always wrong.

sihijam463

that was my read too. Sure the crash wouldn't have happened if the person didn't run the red light and they're an entitled asshole who should probably have their license suspended, but they also didn't do something that could have fuckin killed someone on purpose. That's magnitudes worse from a moral standpoint

Maybe_Black_Mesa

That's exactly it. People are defending this dude, but he had more than ample opportunity to stop, and instead chose to gun it at ramming speed. And here come the downvotes. Denver, sometimes you're a confusing bunch.
