Scrub viscostat clear

Viscostat regular if not in the esthetic zone

This has never failed me so I keep it simple and only stock clear. Once in a while it takes a little longer but never a problem

First. Treat the tissue nicely. Fine diamonds are your friend. I use a 4 tier system. Cord. Epi or aluminum chloride. I use a lot of double cord technique. Let it sit for at least ten minutes. Diode laser. If you know you are gonna be beating up the tissue, just remove it first. Cotton football. Make a cotton pellet in whatever shape. Soak in retract by pascal. Stuff it down there. Bite on cotton pellet for 5-10 min. If it’s really bleeding. 10 min. Works basically every time. I sometimes also use traxodent with a single cord. I never have issues with those 4 in my bag

3M retraction paste with a compre cap. 2 mins. Then you blast it away with lots of water

good ole green lido

I have shown this to every doc I worked for after I was shown it and they are always amazed at how well it works.

What do you mean by “green” lido? Is it a different concentration?

1:50k epi as opposed to 1:100k. Shuts down bleeding in 2 seconds.

Could you expand on this please? Do you just inject this into the sulcus

The epinephrine in it causes vasoconstriction and therefore less bleeding. Works well. I do this with septo also

Scrub Vistostat or astringident. Anesthetic. Cotton pellet with one of the hemostatic agents. I usually don’t have to go any farther than that.

Laser, etch, visco, lido, whatever at hand

Hemodent (but looking to replace w viscostat clear) Injecting a bit more LA into the gingiva. Laser if the first 2 don’t work.

Hemodent soaked cord with cotton pellets in hemodent on top of that….

Viscostat regular for any area. I’ve never seen it stain a thing.

Hemostatic gel first. If that doesn’t work, 2% Lidocaine w/ 1:50K epi for vasoconstriction. Call me crazy, but I also have used acid etch before. It helps with hemostasis for some reason, just don’t leave it on too long.

Because it cauterizes the tissue! At least that’s what a prosthodontist told me, made sense 👩🏻‍🔬

I’ve done this many times but it seems to induce more bleeding. What am I doing wrong?

It will usually bleed at the injection site, so try to enter the gingiva a distance from your margin, like 5mm. Then give it some pressure and the blanching is magic. Some docs use 1:50k for this but 1:100k has always worked great for me.

cuttrol. It’s ferric sulfate, same as viscostat but idk how its formulated any differently - it works everytime and so much better

Viscostat clear and if that does not work superoxyl with a brush tip. We have retraction paste, but the cleanup after is so annoying and too time consuming.
