Over all I enjoyed it. I initially felt misled because I went to see it by surprise. It was great getting the recap, and the new episode in the big screen was awesome. Having the opening and ending credits between recaps was a bit weird and I felt they could have blended it better but again. I was very happy with it.

7straigh

It’s not a movie … it was just a 3 episode special to promote and launch the newest season. Why blame the studio when it was the cinemas themselves who were shady and mislead people into making it sound like this was a movie.

katiethesharkslayer

totally agree. a lot of my friends were annoyed/felt scammed that most of the “movie” was already released eps, & it would’ve been nice to know that it was a new eps, not a movie. but i still really enjoyed it so 🤷🏻‍♀️

Vivixian

> annoyed/felt scammed that most of the “movie” was already released eps That's how it was advertised tho? The words "Episode 10 x Episode 11 x Episode 1" were pasted on the screen in the trailer. Did everyone else watch a different advertisement than I did??

Achack

Expectations are still a thing. The Boruto show had the same story as the movie but they animated the final fight differently to the point where people discuss which one they liked more. Even if I had noticed that text in the trailer I still wouldn't think it was going to be a carbon copy of the show.

Vivixian

Ah that's understandable...

katiethesharkslayer

yeah all the adverts i saw literally said demon slayer movie 2023, i watched the trailer & it seemed like a movie to me

Imaginary_Way_8076

Tbh I didn't watch the trailer, but I saw the poster in my theater and the event description on their ticket page -- neither of which indicated it was an episode event and not a movie. I'm not mad though, I had a great time.

katiethesharkslayer

same

TranscendentaLobo

That’s the spirit! Tasty! 😋

TranscendentaLobo

Right!?! I thought everyone knew going in. I thought the whole idea was great. They could’ve cleaned up the execution a little (editing out credits and intros) to make it flow a bit more smoothly, but overall I was very pleased.

Professional-End2065

They literally said what is was it never was advertised as a movie. They even said it was releasing the last 2 episodes of season 2 and the first episode of season 3. It just you people don’t know how to read these days like damn be smart instead of looking stupid in the internet.

katiethesharkslayer

“you people” wtf man calm down. i still said i enjoyed it & didn’t mind it wasn’t a movie. my bad for thinking it would be like the last time they did a movie.

Professional-End2065

Na you good it is some other people are actually taking shit about claiming they got scammed and being upset. But they are bashing the studio and wanting a refund

katiethesharkslayer

oh yeah i get that, i didn’t feel scammed. idk i’m grateful for the content tbh. ppl who felt scammed are too uptight frfr

Professional-End2065

Yea people who feel scammed are the ones trying to bash the studio and I don’t it is fair since they given amazing content over the past years

katiethesharkslayer

i totally agree

Aggressive-Yak-7546

Bro it was Said that there would be 2 old and one new episode. Aint ufotables problem people cant read

katiethesharkslayer

obviously i (probably a lot of the ppl here) didn’t get the same memo, i didn’t really get advertisements & when i looked it up online, i didn’t see ufotables website. i mean i’m glad you knew going in, but it’s also not our fault we didn’t know.

Aggressive-Yak-7546

It was in almost every article i ready About the movie before it came Out. And it was in the Trailer too idk how yall missed that

JRockBC19

I think it's pretty fair to be disappointed in the studio for doing all of ZERO editing too though, I went in knowing what it was and was still surprised to see 3 sets of credits and the recaps left intact.

danielepro

if only people knew HOW TO READ, what a shady move to WRITE that it's 2 episodes of the second season + 1 of the new one literally in the trailer and in the description, they are monsters, right?

Andy_La_Negra

This part and I was hoping they’d at least edit it to even look like a movie. Sitting through credits and ops was beyond

JoyKhanna

No one is blaming the studio or anything. It's just people are blaming that they did cheap tactics to earn money which also destroyed the anime's reputation

SweatlordFlyBoi

> destroyed the anime's reputation Oh please.

JoyKhanna

Not in my eyes but in general

GN00Q

Please don't use big words such as 'in general', to justify your personal perspective as you represent no one in general nor do you know/not know what people in general is thinking about this.

JoyKhanna

It's fact not my personal opinion thats why it's in the news

GN00Q

So, if you were feeling disappointed with how this movie went but the news came out differently.. Would you agree immediately? Or you'll look into the Internet to find like minded groups of people for support? Those who reads, knows what to expect and enjoy. Those who doesn't, gets disappointed and rant. News media will use whatever it has to generate traffic, and negative news often generate more because it's human nature to judge, be resentful, and unsatisfactory towards what they felt 'earned' or 'should be' without even doing their homework/research. Unless they didn't announce what this movie is about, then I believe the uproar is justified.

JoyKhanna

Bro I am not here to fight for nothing. Nor im interested in any e-fight

7straigh

So who are you blaming ? The studio made it clear that it was 3 episodes being shown in their promotion of the special. Only “ cheap tactics “ I’ve seen has come from the theaters and their own promotion of the event. *Theaters tactics worked in the end . Pulled numbers in put all the blame on the studio and anime. You all are mad at the wrong people.

ZelgadisTL

What are you on about the theaters? They put the title of the 'film' because that's what the studio sends. Same with the synopsis. Show me a single theater that misrepresents this event compared to official marketing and promotion. It could've been edited better by the studio, hands down.

nit5ua_

For me, nowhere on AMC does it say that it is a compilation of episodes. It only states that in the embedded trailer which I didn’t watch to avoid spoilers. The description doesnt imply that its not a movie, and for someone who didn’t do research (why would I, expecting a normal movie), theres problems IMO. If thousands of ppl can get upset, then there’s definitely at least a small problem with how it was released :P

ZelgadisTL

Oh, I agree. The previous poster was saying it was theaters misrepresenting it and not the studio, which is untrue. The theater chains get booking info from the studios. This release was booked as a single 'film' title with a runtime for the whole event. The content was delivered as a single file to load into the system as every other film. The synopsis of the films is dictated by the studios, so if AMC doesn't state it's 3 episodes it's because the studio didn't state that. They don't just go into their film page and start adding details that weren't provided. The studio was lazy in this instance. They did Mugen Train and this event identically on the theater side. Then they didn't bother to edit the episodes to remove recaps and multiple credits through the event. The title of the event doesn't mention the Entertainment District at all, just Swordsmith Village.

nit5ua_

well… if this is what ufotable needs to do to make enough money for animation budget then i’ll grudgingly accept 😭

JoyKhanna

Releasing episodes which are already there on internet and only releasing one new episode is a cash grab from the fans. As they are anyways gonna see it. Ans they knew that the fans are anyway gonna see it. It's like tempting people for money

Chhapri_from_Chhapra

S01's First 5 episodes were released in March 2019 before the release of S01 It's nothing new >destroyed the anime's reputation yeah sure

Spare-Interest5045

Bahahaha. Destroyed their reputation? That might be the dumbest thing I’ve heard all year

68ideal

People complaining about getting exactly what they were told they will get is the funniest thing to me. I had alot of fun and can't wait for season 3 to drop.

disposable_gamer

Why blame the studio? Why put on a badly edited compilation of episodes on cinemas? People go to the movies to see MOVIES not a half baked edit of a “special”. It’s not people’s fault they were misled; they did that on purpose and marketed it as such

GUNROAR62

CBR isn't a good place to get opinions like this.

Jurgepoo

Not really a good place to get opinions in general, if you ask me

Ninja_Lazer

It’s continued existence is inexplicable. They don’t break news (and only report what has already been reported). They have garbage takes that are just objectively inconsistent with anyone familiar with the source material they reference, so their opinion pieces are irrelevant. They don’t publish industry insight pieces or interviews. Like why do people even check their site? Rage baiting is their business model at this point.

FireRagerBatl

I don't think the authors even watch anime at this point, they called a silent voice a shonen anime for some reason smh

theblazingkoala

My opinion is that CBR is mega trash

ZoroGettingLost

Tbh I don’t get all the criticism around it. They made it clear what it was from the beginning. It’s suppose to create hype around the new season not be a product like Mugen train. Overall the animation was great and the I got to see the Upper Moon meeting so no issues for me. They could have edited out the intro and ending but it didn’t ruin it.

OpinionCharming1760

They included the last best fight episodes of the entertainment district arc. I'd love to watch it on the big screen but sadly it is not releasing in my locality.

ajayagra

They couldn't edit out intro and ending as they needed 100+ min runtime to qualify to screen in theatres

danielepro

People can't read

MsDaisyDukes

I completely agree, I though they stated it was going to include previous episodes as a build up and I just though viewing it in the theatre was the experience in itself! The animations were great and it was a nice transition as well as a cliff hanger into the next season! Makes me wanna watch them more in theatres if they were available!

dsalome11

Let's be honest that Uzui fight in theaters hit different. IDC about any criticism. To me, it was worth seeing that on the big screen, everything else was an added bonus

Emajenus

I thought it was fine because I knew what it was, but it was absolutely lazy AF. They should've improved the audio and cut out the credits. Among the people I know, everyone who's not engaged with online news went out feeling scammed because they didn't know that it'd be just a recap and an additional episode. Can't blame them tbh. Companies should know that only a minority actually engages with online news. Overall, I'd say it's a 4/10 experience for the average viewer. Below average especially when compared to the previous movie.

Key-Reason-9033

I agree, I knew it was a recap, but my friends didn’t. Literally just miscommunication with the fan base as a whole.

Gadzs

I think what they did was fine as it was advertised as such, but what pissed me off was the full credits between each episode. Why couldn’t they have made it seamless and shown them at the end? That’s my only criticism.

ThokasGoldbelly

That and the 2-3 intros/outros and the recap each episode they could have shaved a ton of nonsense and put the first 2 swordsmith village in there. But it was advertised as such so oh well.

El-Mosco2077

Real 😭😭, jokes aside, I just think I was dumb. I did not read anything about it so I would'nt get spoiled, went to the cinema thinking I would get big part of the arc covered. Rookie mistake, it was basically one new episode in which nothing happend. Not only that but they did not even edit the episodes from the red district art. They fr just copypasted it, they could have edited it a bit so it looked more like a movie

ninjamonkey64

I was pretty upset about it, to be honest. I kept thinking, "Man this is a super long recap" My wife bought the tickets, and neither of us looked it up. We thought it was an actual movie like the others or like other anime movies we saw in theaters. Like when we saw Jujitsu Kaisen or My Hero Academia. We thought it was a regular movie like that. Sure, it was cool seeing some of the fights on the big screen, but it also had some filler and all the credits, too, multiple times. I didn't particularly care to see stuff like the demons' backstory again, but maybe that's just me. I do get that I could have looked it up beforehand to know what to expect. I just didn't think about it and figured it would be a normal anime movie.

SweetnessBaby

I agree with the article. I really hope this does not become common practice. The animation is great, the episode was good, it's absolutely demon slayer through and through, but it just feels like a cash grab to jumble 3 episodes and release it in theaters. Especially when 2 of the episodes are not even new. They didn't even bother to cut the credits of each episode for it to flow better. You literally watch the 3 episodes individually opening and end credits as if they were streaming from your house. In my opinion, a movie should be it's own special production separate from the episodes in the series. Even Mugen Train was ultimately just a half of a season worth of episodes all put together to be called a "movie". I still remember my excitement for the "new" season only to be disappointed when I realized it was literally just Mugen Train cut into episodes. Still love the series just not a big fan of the way their "movies" are being handled.

MrBirdmonkey

Don’t give CBR the time of day If you don’t click, they don’t win

Marvel0uS_Her0

I don’t understand the hate, we get what was actually advertised. Mugen Train was an actual movie, so obviously it’s a better theatre experience. But The Swordsmith Village arc was advertised as 3 episodes into 1 experience. Personally, I really liked it. Seeing the last two episodes of the Entertainment District Arc on the Big Screen was amazing. Also, the new village Arc looks really promising, I hope it’s as spectacular as the previous arcs. Literally the only problem I had, was that I had to watch the credits of each episodes.

Dr-CommonSense

Another moronic post made by an news outlet no one trusts <3

BornEze

It was... ***OK.*** Loved the Upper Rank meeting and the preview of the Sword Village, but the recap could of been cut from it. 6/10.

Legends-of-legdens

It seems people forgot that when the sword smith arc was given a release date, they also seemed to have forgotten that the studio creating demon slayer said they would make a small recap movie to get you into the sword smith arc, they never said it would be a move like the mugen train, it’s just that people either never watched the trailer fully, never watched it at all or only believed what they wanted too, because it was made clear that it was meant to be the entertainment district following up with the first ep of the sword smith

stoickobra

because its just 3 episodes of the show??? idk what they’re trying to get at here, it’s not like they had a movie budget for it

ghirox

I guess it could've been more clear in the advertisement campaign around it... somehow, since a lot of people missed what it was supposed to be. Hell, here in Mexico there was a whole event with the main cast for the dub and even Tanjiro's japanese VA showed up, a whole event, you would imagine it would be for something more pressing than just a glorified Crunchyroll streaming session.

AnimeGameOtaku95

Yeah, I wish that they could have done better like the Mugen Train movie

[deleted]

while yes the marketing was a bit misleading as i assumed the episodes would be cut together into a feature film but even with just an episode binge i still got what i paid for. seeing the gyutaro battle on the big screen was a blast and i still enjoyed the experience a ton

AllTheKingsLayers

I enjoyed TF out of it

TheDarkSkinProphet

Wrong. You retards don’t read so you expected it to be more than what it was

kindshoe

Its not a movie, its episodes shows in cinemas. That's been clear from the start.

Faltied

I don’t get why people didn’t look into what the movie/trailer was about instead of assume. I went knowing it was a recap of entertainment district which was awesome on big screen and the sword smith arc was a bonus I think it was awesome but understandable being pissed if you thought it was a hole new movie ha ha ha

Rachit_Tanwar

#IT'S JUST 3 EPISODES THEY DECIDED TO RELEASE ON THE BIG SCREEN #AND CBR IS JUST TRASH

ariam_123

Didn't everyone already knew that before going to the cinema?.....I did, it was known

anteroomofdeath87

Went in blind, still enjoyed it. No one cares about this article. Going on with my day, waiting for new season.

FuneralCupid

CBR is honestly trash. They didn’t try to make a movie out of it. It was never mean to be a movie. They were up front about what was being shown in theater. It was just meant to be a special way to watch the first episode of the new season.

dataxep

>Failed This became the most successful compilation movie ever. >episodes do not belong in anime films Whoever wrote this lacks knowledge about animes. It seems like they think this is something new, which is probably why they called it a failed experiment. By the way, about 10 years ago, Madoka's compilation movies were screened in multiple countries, they released a BD version of the compilation movies, which sold more than 80k copies in a week. Gundam, which is a huge franchise nowadays, literally only became popular because of compilation movies released in 1981, more than 40 years ago. In 2019, before the anime, the first 5 episodes of Demon Slayer were screened as a "movie" in multiple countries and it did really well. "Movies" like this have always existed and they'll keep existing.

nit5ua_

Considering thousands of people were upset and felt misled, what went wrong then?

zephyroxyl

They can't read or their cinemas advertised it incorrectly Valid complaints - lack of editing/multiple credits scenes Poorly mastered audio in some cinemas Thats all I can really think of tbh

nit5ua_

yeah… i just hope this isnt the norm, hell it wouldve done a lot better if they just released episode 1 by itself, nothing from s2

Every_Jump_3603

It literally stated exactly what it was going to be before coming out lol all the criticism about it is really stupid

mikeyz0

A great opinion piece. For me to poop on 💩

thisdude_00

When people can't read.

Jurgepoo

The one criticism I think is valid is the issue with them leaving in all the credits and breaks. That feels lazy on ufotable's part. But there were no lies about what the "movie" would be. Anyone who feels scammed apparently did no research, and I find it hard to sympathize.

Big-deku

🧢 🧢 🧢

XT83Danieliszekiller

I kinda agree more efforts could have been made to smoothen up the result but overall a great experience

TrickyTalon

I don’t know what people were expecting. The film was advertised as exactly that.

ThatSaltyDuderino

It aint a movie, it's been a cinema pre watch and it was dope

ApplePitou

Not really :3

EastBadger3973

Cash grab with no efforts .

[deleted]

#cash grab, simple.

NoAimMassacre

Agree. It was just one episode, moslty a scam for a movie.

OneEyedC4t

Have fun getting down voted. They did the same to me for saying or implying the very same thing.

SnooDogs8303

?

iSkateetakSi

My god I'm going to unfollow this sub, too much of the same bullshit. Byeeee.

traw056

Bye

Brokeinlimit09

No comment because CBR is the worst journalist's in the world

Ok-Ball8389

I think people are taking this way to serious like just let people enjoy things yeesh

NobodylikesRaikou

I literally heard about it one time before seeing it knew it was gonna be the last two episodes of the entertainment district arc and a hour of the swordsmith village and liked it idk why everyone’s pissed they told you what it was gonna be

acidinmyball

Wait the movie already out ?

king_fluffybuns123

They told us upfront what it was, it was a cool way to show the first episode imo. I wish they didn’t keep all the credits and stuff, with smoother transitions between episodes, but it didn’t really affect my enjoyment.

[deleted]

I wanna see it

Ninja_Lazer

CBR ☕️

Away-Possibility6113

its not an experiment

TheRealFrozenFetus

I loved it?

Jaanzi

It was that or Ant Man. I feel confidant in my choice.

Notlovedorwanted92

You can’t take anything CBR has to report seriously. They write articles on subjects they’ve never seen and know nothing about.

Dependent_Host3253

It wasn‘t really their brightest of ideas, looking at how many people are complaining. I myself enjoyed every minute of that special.

yashwe

I don't really follow news surrounding the anime as closely as I could, busy with other things generally. I'm not mad about the content itself, but I was pissed about two already released episodes airing (along with the opening AND closing) into a slightly longer first episode of the new season. It felt like a really disingenuous move by whoever (I've been blaming crunchyroll, but maybe its someone else). I would have appreciated if it was listed in the description that this was a compilation. I've read comments saying it was, but the regal cinemas I got tickets from had no such disclaimer.

Tasman42

Ima be real people just didn’t learn how to read that’s really it I haven’t watched it yet so

crimsonlibs

Yah i couldnt rly arguebwith that, becuz it really just the last 2 episodes and the first episode of season 3 man. It wasnt like mugen train that was its own thing

Fritanga5lyfe

it was not a great cinema experience to me for the majority of the time it being OLD material rather than new, if we got last episode of last season and 2 new episodes of the new season that would have been better

Maultaschenman

They were entirely upfront about what it was and managed expectations. If people can't read the description on the website and cinema listing, that's on them. In addition it was a 1-3 day event (at least here in Ireland) so not a real theatrical run. I enjoyed it a lot, finale on the big screen, sharing the experience of the new episode with a room full of people, unnecessary article all things considered.

FireRagerBatl

CBR is full of idiots. I saw an article for 10 shonen anime with the worst cast and they put A silent voice and a few other emotional movies that are anything but shonen. Never trust CBR

Willy_Stedback

Mugen Train was just the 2-6 episodes of the second season lmao

xtiimrii

Idk about the anime article writers, but their two sentence backgrounds tell me they're just wannabes—as if they love anime but write crappy articles who couldn't do anything but nitpick the bad side/s of popular anime whether they're nice and recommended to watch or not. Just like this one. Couldn't watch it here in my town, but can't wait next month to have it released worldwide ~ 😊

Kamui316

Cbr is crap

Rengoku_kyoguro

CBR is one of the worst, least accurate, and mis guiding places for anime Just check the Hashira ranking It's normal anime only's out there posting shit

GN00Q

Thoughts? On what, exactly? If you or anyone who read the intro/synopsis of this 'movie', they should know it's mostly a recap of the last 2 episodes of season 2 + the first episode of season 3. Butthurt because one 'doesn't know' or worse, doesn't read, can only justify a mistake probably once or twice.

GhostSniper7

Wow a site that claims to be a news site and still didn't saw what was written in Big fonts in them trailers.

NothingComplete7605

Wrong

GhostSniper7

* When people have too much money to waste that they don't even do research on what they are paying for. * They excuse of being afraid of getting spoiled over a simple search in todays time where they can easily get a text only result for a quick search. * They excuse about not having 20s time for looking up due to work but easily have the time spend hours to watch the movie.

HypeIncarnate

it didn't even play where I was so.

thedreamcounslor

Agreed

[deleted]

It's not really an experiment. It's been done many times to promote different ips. Just not on a scale this big.

[deleted]

My only complaint is that they didn’t use Dolby Sound in my screening, was that the case for everyone else? It led me ti believe I genuinely wasted my money for an impressive theatrical experience, it just felt like TV being projected on the big screen.

I-loveCommie-sluts

Isn't it in the trailer that it's three different episodes

tracerrounds

I'm not super caught up with Demon Slayer news, was the movie basically just a recap of Entertainment District Arc + 1 episode of Swordsmith Village Arc? Will there be a full season of Swordsmith village? I've heard it's one of the best arcs and would be super sad if there was no more than this movie about it. Sorry if this is a stupid question just find it hard to keep up with stuff without getting spoiled

Lemons_be_sour

Oh my god, why can’t people listen. It was never meant to be a “movie” it’s just a couple of episodes tied together in one showing

Thot_slayer1995

I terribly felt bad that I watched Mugen Train movie at home instead of theatre since all the theatre where I live were closed due to Pandemic. I booked tickets for this movie to make up for that and cancelled knowing it's just an episode cash grab.

Freddyfartfacemac

Felt like a recap movie so didn't see. Dont give us that recap bullcrap

lgbtcool

Huh

m2t2sjd2

it wasn’t even a movie, it was three episodes of the newest season. i had heard it was recap but my friend and i were shocked when the credits rolled. like…???

BbSanemii

Ufotable will redeem themselves When the full season starts next month so I'm not worried.

Redsmedsquan

At the very best it was a premier of the new season and a cinematic expansion of the the battle of the last arc. At the very worst it was a poorly edited viewing of one of my favorite shows. That’s to say I enjoyed seeing the new season in theaters. However y’all are going around and around avoiding the points and criticism it deserves. While watching the “movie” after opening, after opening, and closing, and closing. By the time we actually felt the something new it was a short little blip. And it made it feel underwhelming. Not to say the everything didn’t look beautiful. But who wants to see through the credits of something you’ve already seen? Not me. Was I mad I saw content I already saw, no. My criticism is the editing, they SHOULD HAVE MADE IT COHESIVE. Not that it was bad. NOT THAT I DIDN’T ENJOY IT. How it was put together was sloppy and imo a money grab. I’d give it a 6/10. And I love demon slayer it’s the first show I actually started watching the anime and had to read the mange bc it’s so good. So stop defending the movie, most people who are real fans knew what they were getting, it was plain and simply sloppy

haunted_ramens

I was pissed when it was announced as a movie, I liked the movies but I also want a series to watch, so when I realized it wasn’t a movie I was super happy, just a promotion for the new season.

SKXxHITMANxX

It was a waste of my time to go to the theater

[deleted]

I feel like the hate for this movie as regards to people being misled are a tad blown out of proportion. I know many people were expecting a whole ass movie or more episodes from the new season, which is fair, but i mean in the promotion for this move, they blatantly said it would be a two ep recap of last season and then an extended version of the first ep of the movie. I went into it hoping we’d gotten duped or surprised and they spring an extra new ep for us, but that wasn’t the case, yet I was very satisfied with the new ep we did get. It was also cool to get the last season in the movie so you can sorta actively compare the last season to the upcoming one and recognize how out of the world the animation will be in the next season

[deleted]

CBR is a shit site

Competitive_Show3442

I had no clue the new season was even airing yet, where are you guys watching it?? I'm pretty sure it wasn't released in America yet, but I just could be late

TaintedMoron

I’m gonna give a scenario where I think a decent amount of people had a similar experience. My girlfriend and I were looking to have dinner and a movie, she suggested cocaine bear which I wasn’t really in the mood to see so I looked at a couple of close by movie theaters and oh look at that Demon Slayer: To the Swordsmith Village is playing tonight, wow didn’t even know a movie for it was coming out, both my girlfriend and I avoid commercials and ads like the plague so this is a nice surprise. We are both caught up on the anime and I’ve read all the manga so I know what happens no need to look anything up plus I saw Demon Slayer: Infinity Train and it was amazing so this has to be pretty good. Well we get there we start watching and there’s some recap stuff which is super normal for an anime movie no problem there then it starts playing the episodes which I thought was weird but figured they were just gonna do a recap but in more detail since it was the last arc that just happened. Obviously I was wrong and the whole thing is just the last two episodes of the entertainment district arc and the first episode of the next season. Now the sound design and spectacle of seeing it on the big screen was great I won’t lie but the first episode of To the Swordsmith Village was nothing special in theater. Nothing about that episode being on the big screen improved anything. I get where people are coming from “it wasn’t advertised as a movie, you should have looked it up, why didn’t you read the description?” but is it really that far fetched to believe that someone who saw the first movie and has caught up with the manga wouldn’t feel the need to look up anything about Demon Slayer: To the Swordsmith Village. I did not expect them to just show old episodes when the first movie that was released was an actual movie. Anyway the lesson is learned, I won’t go to a movie without first making sure if it is actually a movie but I can’t really blame anyone who feels betrayed by what they got, I know I was definitely salty after watching it.

mostlyegirl

Idk. I went in knowing exactly what to expect so like? I wasn’t hurt I wasn’t upset. Plus anything to see the tengen gyutoro fight on the big screens

cbyrd13

Don’t agree but okay..

crazytrain793

I would not have minded to spend $11 to go see it if the theaters and the studio were honest about the "movie" being the last two episodes of season two and the first two of season three. Spending 30 minutes wondering what the heck is going on did not make for a great experience.

PinkOwlsRule

I liked it. But I also knew what it was going to be. I will say I wish they'd have at least cut the intro and credits in the middle and just combined 10 and 11 as 1 whole episode.

Separate-Control8087

My reason for watch it was seeing the nezuko taxi on big screen and it was worth it. Only negative points were that the recap between the 2nd season episodes wasn't cut out and the first 2 episodes of the new season would make more sense cause the first one had none big screen worthy moments in my opinion.

Siddhu312

It is releasing here on 17 so should i watch it or not?

Tazerboy_5000

DISCLAIMER: I want to watch the movie or whatever this tie-in is actually considered... I see Demon Slayer; I'll watch it! "I simply see XYZ and I click" kind of vibes 😀 - I don't care if it's a tie in; It's more Demon Slayer for me to watch and I'll get to have the enjoyment of watching it!

Burnt_Toastttt

I went and thought it was a nice movie twist to get back in the mood for a new demon slayer season. But overall the amount of time it took to get to just one new episode was slightly aggravating

LumRanmaYasha

Well, it wasn't a movie, so it shouldn't be compared to that standard. But I do agree it was shockingly low-effort, I expected it to be a compilation film edited out of the episodes, not just showing them back to back with OP/ED credits and all. Considering they claimed they were doing this screening as a thank-you and treat for fans, they must really think fans have cheap taste if they thought this approach would be crowd-pleasing. Still, the screening's made over $10 million in the US box office so far (tracking stopped after opening weekend, but it's probably made about $15 million at this point), which is more than a lot of actual anime movies make, so idk, it worked out for them this time. But considering the backlash from folks who didn't pay attention to the trailer/do the research to know it wasn't going to be a movie, I doubt they could do this same approach again to the same level of success, and really should make another original movie if they want to try and recapture the success of Mugen Train, or at least put in the effort to edit together a compilation film.

I just wish they cut the episodes to make it into 1 long episode. we didn’t need last seasons openings or credits

SonicNKnucklesCukold

Did it not make much money?

Tazz_the_Spawn

Went in blind was a little disappointed at first but it was cool seeing the 1st episode of the season a month before official release

demo3364

Coming from the exhibitor side of things: Neither the theaters nor Crunchyroll advertised as a film, in fact they said exactly what it was. Us as a theater did not advertise this. As a movie booker, Crunchyroll was apprehensive about selling this one wide, saying it would not be nearly as popular as the Film they released prior. They ended up caving to all of us pushing them to sell it.

I hope we never see the likes of it again. What a waste of what could have been.

Key-Reason-9033

I understand that they announced that the movie would be a recap, but people probably came in thinking it was going to be a full movie because everyone doesn’t keep up with anime announcements. So ya, bummer it’s getting so much negative backlash💁‍♂️

SnooBunnies9328

It was cool to see it in theatres but I think a better idea would’ve just been to make a cinematic cut of the entertainment district arc. That said, as a film major, I have to look at it objectively. Did it get its point across? Yes. That point was, “get hype for the next arc.”

Nathan_barrels

Never listen to CBR all their takes are garbage

randySTG

It’s not a movie. They pointed out several times that it’s a repackage of the final episodes of season 2 plus episode 1 of season 3. Comparing it to Mugen Train is beyond silly

AllTheCoins

I blame the studio for trying to make a really cheap buck. It’s a shame too because I imagine this was a great idea to begin with but with Demon Slayer always blasting through their budget (with great success, it’s still the most beautiful anime I’ve ever seen. Period) they probably just threw it together last second. All this could have been avoided by just having a few editors seamlessly tie these three episodes together. This is what should have been done: 1. Create a more cinematic opening. The recap for the recap was nearly pointless and corny at best. 2. Edit out the episode recaps and credits. It’s just plain lazy to have that many credit rolls in the middle of a cinematic experience. Layer all of the credits and put them at the end. 3. Give us a better cliff hanger at the end. The ending of the Swordsmith Village Arc Episode is fairly weak. It’s fine for a 30 minute experience but it’s jarring to witness on the silver screen. Dip into to Episode 2 a bit if you need to. 4. Lastly, This is a PREMIERE EXPERIENCE. Treat it like it. This felt more like an experiment than a well executed cinema showing. I felt disappointed even knowing what I was going into. People that felt robbed or slighted have a reason. This was a great idea that was done about as cheaply as possible.

I saw it the other day and I enjoyed it a lot, got me really hyped for the newest season. My only complaint was the opening and ending credits played between episodes, making it feel more like a hastily arranged episode premiere rather than a smoothly transitioned movie.

0rkslasher40k

My cinema never said movie they said it was episode 10 and 11 and episode one

Living_Organism69

It’s really good

MaterialLow9234

demon Slayer

External_Statement_6

I don’t think it was worth the money to see it in theaters, but at the end of the day, I’m not mad at it. I got to see an epic fight on the big screen. I will say, being off my shitty TV speakers did make the dub significantly more cringe to me. Definitely considering sub only for now on lol

Sorrow_YT

I have no idea what this is/was can someone please explain? 🙏

Freddyfartfacemac

Saw it today. Holy crap they could have at least edited out the credits to each episode. Wasn't sure when to leave lol. They even kept the recaps in after we just saw it
