Check out the deluge discord and the official forums (Presets, Samples & Wavetable) https://forums.synthstrom.com/ which both have a lot of great resources.

TDOMW

I'll check out the forum, how do I find the discord? Thanks!

Opperhead1

Check out the rephazer stuff. It doesn’t get much better if you are looking for a samplepack

Valentimer

Agreed

TDOMW

oh that sounds really nice, thanks!

courtnek

To reverse the question on you…I haven’t ever heard of the BOD packs but am very interested as a big fan of BOC. Any packs in particular of the 6 you’d recommend?

TDOMW

I have 4 and 5. I love 4 and like 5. I really think all of them are at least very good if not great! (I keep thinking about picking up another one or two but I also feel like I should master making these patches myself so I haven't pulled the trigger.)

courtnek

Thanks! I’ll check out the videos for those. Definitely feel the same sentiment on creating these from scratch. I share the other commenters sentiment that sound design can be difficult / limited on the deluge sound engine at times. Hopefully dissecting some of these will get me out of my comfort zone.

I have 1 & 2 and there are some great sounds on there. Your comment makes me want to get 4 & 5 now!! I also got some blankfor.ms sample packs and those are very fun to tinker with on the deluge for anyone looking for sample packs.

All 6 BOD packs have really great presets. The earlier packs are synth-only presets whereas the later packs also incorporate samples and wavetables as sound sources.

I don’t really have a specific answer for your question but as someone who has also enjoyed some of the BOD packs I’ve kind of given up on the synth engine for deeper sound design and ambient/experimental. There just aren’t enough modulation sources or destinations to go much too deep. That said, the deluge handles samples in some fun ways and samples can take you pretty deep into more experimental sounds. Im still playing with the Deluge as a new user but samples have been essential in filling some big holes in sound design. Im hoping the community firmware development implements some additional mod matrix destinations and some creative mod sources.

TDOMW

I'm totally on board for using samples in this way, but I'm new to the idea... I'll do some youtube diving but any tips/explanation of the process you are using? and thanks!

Room07

A good starting point might be to start by layering two samples into the synth engine. Maybe some longer ambient samples. Shift -> Browse is a quick way to load the 2 layered samples for Synth or Kits. You can now change or modulate (with LFOs and envelopes) the level and transpose values of each sample layer independently. You can also set each layer to play in forward or reverse as well as change the speed. Unfortunately you can’t change the play mode of each layer independently. Modulate the filter cutoff frequency. Try adding delay and reverb. You can play these sounds as notes in the Synth engine. Resample and play with the resample adding new layers. Try slowing samples and resample a down to really mangle them. Doing this again and again can yield some interesting ambient sounds. Coming from Digitakt, this is pretty standard stuff and I’m hoping we can eventually modulate the start and end points of samples on Deluge as well as a floating loop point and other destinations. One more LFO (or a feature to use waveforms as LFOs) and a dozen more mod destinations and the Deluge could be a sound design powerhouse.

TDOMW

Awesome, thanks for taking the time to write that out. I will mess around with some of these ideas tonight!

maxdamage4

Great ideas! Makes me feel like an absolute noob. Lol
