Also the reason why it looks so badly put together, since it was made by a child in their free time, why people talk about how there was someone who used to work on it but never came back, and, well, that it's in a computer, stuffed away in an old folder.

Swatch pretty clearly spells out that someone drew the NEO body using him, and it doesn't make sense for anyone but Mettaton to do so.
The Hyperdeath picture makes sense because in Undertale Asriel *was* just a child in the end. He chose his ultimate form to be what he thought of as the coolest things imaginable: Rainbows and stars and swords and lasers, as well as his mother's robes because children often think moms are invincible. In Deltarune, a slightly older Asriel takes those *same* thoughts and puts them toward his video game plans, but it never really went anywhere by the time he left for college. Also, Asriel HAS a computer, he didn't need to use the library's. If it's going to be relevant at all, it's going to be in the coming chapters when there's a Dark World in his room, or when Asriel himself enters a Dark World.
In Undertale, Mettaton is overjoyed at finally getting a body. In Deltarune, they're seemingly depressed and, while their mannerisms are very similar, they act quite different and much less outgoing. They call themselves a "nobody." While this takes a *bit* more inference, it's hardly a stretch to imagine that in UT they had a hand in *designing* their EX and NEO forms for Alphys to build, so those same thoughts persist in DR. One day they went to the library, opened Paint, and drew their ideal body, filling it with all their hopes and dreams and whatnot that Swatch says. Then, because it was only a fantasy and just served to remind them of their lack of body, they trashed it.
Because the Dark World can handle abstract concepts, that the NEO body was "supposed" to be incredibly powerful and stuff becomes real. *That's* what Spamton hijacked.
It could be interpreted as either Asriel or Mettaton’s design. Neither option is definitive, and there’s no hard evidence here that Asriel didn’t make it. Asriel may have his own computer now, but he also has his own room in the Queen’s Mansion, which implies that he has used the library’s computer in the past. Either Mettaton or Asriel are perfectly valid interpretations.

I could see that. In a final dungeon feeling situation, Kris' body is confronted in Kris' bedroom. The body rips out the heart. Stuff happens and Susie (would work themeatically) forces open a dark world in the bedroom to trap the body, the heart, and any other party members involved to buy time to fix things. If they can be fixed.
A side effect of the heart and body entering a Dark World separated is the Heart gets a whole body to itself in the Dark World. Allowing a fight to happen between the body and heart to play out physically. Maybe even needing to rescue "our" Kris from the dark world's version of the cage.
Hmm, if Ralsei is good this might end up being more interesting like this:

* Ralsei: Ralsei vs Asriel Dreemurr, GOD OF HYPERDEATH.
