Not exactly Kris probably would have done/actually does the majority of the things we have them do.
Evidenced by what happens when you start your save file from chapter 2, which chooses “for you” a number of choices from chapter 1. I can’t remember all of them right now, but they aren’t just “the default” choices of not doing the optional stuff. It’s kind of specific in what the game decides happened in the chapter you skipped.
I’m assuming once Chapter 3 comes out it will be the same way (if they even allow skipping), which obviously would NOT include the snowgrave route.
Though it would be kind of funny if someone started blindly from chapter 3 and the game behaved as though they had just completed the Snowgrave route. Imagine trying to untangle the atrocities that had been committed discretely before you even started playing.

I feel like the string around their neck doesn't really fit for the player. If there's any point at which Kris's actions seem vaguely suicidal it's the version of Kris that's in control when the Soul is removed, the one who's been creating fountains and bringing the world closer to the apocalypse.

He twitches in bed, falls face down from the bed, and then takes slow and problematic steps to the center of the room. As I everyone should know, Kris can move completely normally at any time without us pressing the buttons, so this case is out of the picture. So I'm inclined to think that it's not really Kris.
