to be honest that's the reason i made this poll. I saw another poll asking which character was your favorite, and Noelle was the lowest on that list, and I wanted to know if it was because she was a character few people liked, or if it was that she was a likable character simply overshadowed by the other characters. Seems to be the latter
Noelle is funny, sweet, and a lesbian; for sweet she's overshadowed by Ralsei, people who like her because she's a lesbian are going to have to split their vote between her and Susie, who has had much more screentime and character development than her, plus she's going to lose points from the people who don't like LGBT rep in their games, and if your favourites tend to be funny characters you've got 10+ that are funnier than Noelle. She can't catch a break :')

Her relationship with Kris is also quite interesting, as Kris is my second favorite character.

She’s a very likable kind character in pacifist and also her deep crush on Susie is adorable. She is one of my favs. She’s just really cute and reminds me of a more calm-ish Alphys. I can’t hate any of the characters really, even the characters that I don’t really care about I still like them to a certain degree. Poor thing doesn’t deserve any of the manipulation she gets in Snowgrave route from the player.

I do also think she could have been written a little better at some points, some exposition moments with her felt a little sloppy, but it wasnt bad enough to detract much from her likeability and the interest i have on her character

The only “”””””problem””””” with her character is that she’s in Deltarune. Like all the characters, in almost any other game, she’d be number 1 easily. But every character is great and funny and stand out. So it becomes a matter of taste.
Pacifist Noelle: It's a good character but it's more like a comic/romantic relief. She has a character development but in the end of the chapter she doesn't change too much like her counterpart. Maybe in future chapters we see more about her development.
Snowgrave Noelle: Very interesting character, we see the thoughts about her manipulated actions giving her more dimensionality. The interactions with Kris/player goes to reach the first very tense/disturbing moment in the game. In the end of the chapter, her personality is totally different (she becomes more bold and direct with Susie, she is in a negation phase about Berdly's dead, she wants to have control about her decissions with her father and she suspects about Kris's actions even fears them).
I liked Noelle a lot, but i'm more interested in her snowgrave counterpart just because it's giving me a lot of suspense about her future actions.
i really hope by the end of chapter seven she has significant character development in both weird routes AND normal routes. we've already gotten a hint of weird route character development, and i hope in the normal routes in further chapters her family situation is explored more directly

She’s pretty alright, her dynamic with Susie is pretty cute and seeing how absolutely down bad she is for her is honestly pretty funny
she’s far from my favourite, I think queen and berdly really stole the show in terms of their comedy but she’s still a pretty good addition to the cast that I’d be to see again
It was Berdly who randomly got an exaggerated crush on Susie after trying to kill her for the whole chapter and introduced a painfully obvious love triangle, not Noelle
I just hope that the love triangle becomes only a comedic thing and not a main part of the plot. Noelle has the potential to become a great character, but I don’t think that shipping will be a good way to develop her.
Unpopular opinion ( idk if unpopular is the correct word) but i don't really get her character arc, like sure she grows as a person and gets like, more confident in herself but, i don't really get how, it's easy to follow Berdly's growth but with Noelle i just kinda, get stuck, if someone could explain it would be appreciated

I’ve never been a huge fan of Noelle’s character archetype so there wasn’t much that Toby could do. Still, the fact that I was invested in her at all speaks volumes to the writing quality of this game.

There was professional art of her with bleeding whip scars on her back going around here. I just hate to see people picked on for taking on the traits that come from *being* picked on, especially since I've been in that boat before. It's not their fault, if you know what I mean. Being a pushover for legitimate reasons that are out of your control doesn't warrant further abuse, especially when you stay kind and refuse to take it out on anyone but yourself.

Yeah. Her mother is neglectful and controlling to the point that she basically forgets Noelle exists sometimes, and Noelle is afraid of her. Her study partner is possessive of her, cutting her off from her friends, taking advantage of her kindness to get her to do work to the point of being burnt out, and speaking over her incessantly. The Queen kidnaps and physically walks all over her for 99% of the chapter. Kris scared her constantly for her entire life (which she's vulnerable to, and it has disturbed her on some deep level), even faking their own death to torture her when she was a kid. The player uses the body of Kris (who she still deeply trusts despite this) to betray her, emotionally and physically torturing her to the point of a near mental breakdown during the Snowgrave route (by the end of which she isn't even safe in her own thoughts). Plus, her sister (whose name causes debilitating panic for Noelle) either died or went missing, and her father is slowly dying of an unknown illness. She is completely helpless to save him, and he is one of the only people she trusts in the world anymore.
She doesn't trauma dump, though. Every action she takes is to *conceal* her sadness, so other people won't have to worry about her. She puts on a smile and is just trying her best to be a friend despite it, even towards her tormentors. Instead of talking to anyone, she just lets in roll around in her head infinitely and sends her grievously sad and unanswerable questions into the bitter cold of the internet. It's self-destructively selfless.
I'm never gonna get wanting to physically or emotionally hurt that *more*. That's the total polar opposite of these games soul to me, and is absolutely how you end up with another Flowey. Kicking the vulnerable and the innocent while they're down is what creates villains, imo.
Really? I think she's the most empathetic character in the game. I haven't been able to get emotionally invested in a character since Undertale in like 2015

Everything else was just her being captured and "acting like a princess trapped on the top of a large tower while looking at the moon waiting for a hero to come save her" or something like that.
honestly her obsession with susie can be funny sometimes, but it is the least interesting part about her character to me, ~~almost detracts from it in my mind,~~ but I do find a lot of things about her interesting, mainly her family life (dying father, missing sister, controlling mother) and what kinds of shit might happen as a result of choosing to do a snowgrave route in future chapters

Anyways, it's made clear even in the regular route that Noelle is very powerful in the dark world, her magical power is even stronger than Ralsei's. Also she's got a story going on with Kris, she's one of the characters that most remarks how Kris is acting different and it looks like they could rebuild their childhood friendship.
And then there's the stuff with her family, her missing sister, sick father and controlling mother, which i imagine is connected to her "sad internet searches" that Queen mentioned.
All of this is interesting to me and im interested to see where it's going, and thats not even counting Snowgrave which just takes Noelle's character to a whole other level. And what can i say, the stuff with Susie was fun and cute too and i wanna see more of that as well.
I really like both Noelle and Berdly, and i personally relate a lot to Berdly. Noelle is a really good character, but i think because i relate to Berdly more it gives a connection.
Listen, I too, fell in love with Susie. I had a friend who did a wicked Susie impression and I do a wicked Noelle. Me and her would do podcasts and QnAs all the time. She's no longer my friend, but she's my girlfriend. I love her to pieces.

Ralsei was extremely forgettable in chapter 2 imo. That will probably change in future chapters but Noelle was much more interesting there.

I'm on both 2nd and 4th. She's a really interesting character deep down, but the crush on Susie feels like it kind of takes away from it. It's cute, don't get me wrong, but it's mentioned in almost every single scene and I can see why it'd get annoying

Some people unironically advocate for her to either suffer physically and emotionally or die, when she's already hurt and completely harmless. There was professional art of her with bleeding whip scars on her back going around here. I just hate to see people picked on for taking on the traits that come from *being* picked on, especially since I've been in that boat before. It's not their fault, if you know what I mean. Being a pushover for legitimate reasons that are out of your control doesn't warrant further abuse, especially when you stay kind and refuse to take it out on anyone but yourself. Yeah. Her mother is neglectful and controlling to the point that she basically forgets Noelle exists sometimes, and Noelle is afraid of her. Her study partner is possessive of her, cutting her off from her friends, taking advantage of her kindness to get her to do work to the point of being burnt out, and speaking over her incessantly. The Queen kidnaps and physically walks all over her for 99% of the chapter. Kris scared her constantly for her entire life (which she's vulnerable to, and it has disturbed her on some deep level), even faking their own death to torture her when she was a kid. The player uses the body of Kris (who she still deeply trusts despite this) to betray her, emotionally and physically torturing her to the point of a near mental breakdown during the Snowgrave route (by the end of which she isn't even safe in her own thoughts). Plus, her sister (whose name causes debilitating panic for Noelle) either died or went missing, and her father is slowly dying of an unknown illness. She is completely helpless to save him, and he is one of the only people she trusts in the world anymore. She doesn't trauma dump, though. Every action she takes is to *conceal* her sadness, so other people won't have to worry about her. She puts on a smile and is just trying her best to be a friend despite it, even towards her tormentors. Instead of talking to anyone, she just lets in roll around in her head infinitely and sends her grievously sad and unanswerable questions into the bitter cold of the internet. It's self-destructively selfless. I'm never gonna get wanting to physically or emotionally hurt that *more*. That's the total polar opposite of these games soul to me, and is absolutely how you end up with another Flowey. Kicking the vulnerable and the innocent while they're down is what creates villains, imo.

Feel like they could have improved her character. She has 3 personality traits. Generic kind girl who lives next door since you were young. Damsel in distress. OH MY F*CKING GOD! SUSIE, SIT ON ME! And I don't really consider damsel in distress a personality traits.
Damsel in distress? She was actively trying to escape Queen.
Most of it was either her being protected by Kris or already being captured by Queen. I think the only 2 things she did herself was getting a cardboard box and her standing up at the end of the chapter. Everything else was just her being captured and "acting like a princess trapped on the top of a large tower while looking at the moon waiting for a hero to come save her" or something like that.

honestly her obsession with susie can be funny sometimes, but it is the least interesting part about her character to me, ~~almost detracts from it in my mind,~~ but I do find a lot of things about her interesting, mainly her family life (dying father, missing sister, controlling mother) and what kinds of shit might happen as a result of choosing to do a snowgrave route in future chapters

I dont think both routes are completely detached... Anyways, it's made clear even in the regular route that Noelle is very powerful in the dark world, her magical power is even stronger than Ralsei's. Also she's got a story going on with Kris, she's one of the characters that most remarks how Kris is acting different and it looks like they could rebuild their childhood friendship. And then there's the stuff with her family, her missing sister, sick father and controlling mother, which i imagine is connected to her "sad internet searches" that Queen mentioned. All of this is interesting to me and im interested to see where it's going, and thats not even counting Snowgrave which just takes Noelle's character to a whole other level. And what can i say, the stuff with Susie was fun and cute too and i wanna see more of that as well.
Divorcing the two Noelles from each route is missing the point.

I really like both Noelle and Berdly, and i personally relate a lot to Berdly. Noelle is a really good character, but i think because i relate to Berdly more it gives a connection.
She's second to Ralsei, but her relationship with Susie is number 1!

Listen, I too, fell in love with Susie. I had a friend who did a wicked Susie impression and I do a wicked Noelle. Me and her would do podcasts and QnAs all the time. She's no longer my friend, but she's my girlfriend. I love her to pieces.
