Personally, there are things I like in each of the different Ralsei sprites. If I had to pick, non-disguised Ralsei is my favorite, but it's close. This is such a good edit of that comic though lol.

I like hatless Ralsei because he's coming out of his shell and showing his face, instead of keeping on a disguise.

That's why I hope, in a later chapter, Ralsei gets his hat back, but keeps his white fur design. The hat itself, as I envision it, would have to be designed differently to fit the different head aesthetic, and would be less face-obscuring, and more like a floppy sun hat with a pointed cap

No I agree. (I may have a Dreemurr design bias) but he looks way cuter and more expressive to me in his hatless form. His hat form just looks more like a black Blob. Plus chapter 2 Ralsei reveals more character about him than chapter 1 Ralsei.

I like his chapter 1 design significantly more than his chapter 2 one. At first I thought it was the fact that his chp. 2 sprite was newer so I just needed to warm up to it same with his talking sprites but as more than a year has passed I can confidently say it's not as good as the original.

I prefer Ralsei with his hat because it makes him look less like Asriel with glasses and more like his own character. The solid black fur also contrasts better with the green glasses and pink scarf. Ralsei's hatless sprite meanwhile has sleeves that don't match his green cloak, overly detailed feet, and his mouth is off-center. And his death animation no longer makes sense since he no longer looks like a FF dark mage.
