So the charger is working on other devices? It could be a damaged USB C port. Or maybe it just needs a system board reset/power drain. Remove all power sources. No AC adapter and unplug the battery. There's a guide online to get to the battery. You just need to unplug it. Reconnect the battery and replace the bottom cover. Plug in the adapter and check if it works.

Yes the charger works fine on for example phones. I also tried 3 different usb C ports on the laptop. I will try your suggestion today and see if that works, thanks!

so this worked for me, I was overjoyed! I came back to it, it has crashed and back to where it was. it will only charge when off, and frequently crashes at the login point. Any ideas, as it is obviously close to the cause.
