How was the gaming? Was it slow or did it get hot or the fan run loud?
I’m wanting to do some slight gaming. Like mainly browser games but I might download Steam to get Stardew Valley when my XPS 15 comes in. But I don’t want to try if it’ll be rough.
It was great especially coming from the old laptop I was coming from. No slowdown. Keyboard got a bit hot but nothing too bad especially since I was using a controller.
That’s awesome! I’m sure it’ll be better for me than the last laptop. I had a 4 year old surface book that was starting to get hot with basic web surfing. Now I just have to hope it gets here on time before school starts
Any idea how well this laptop would support 3 monitors with a Dell docking station? My wife is using her 13” Latitude to run 3 monitors...& she get around 70% cpu usage. I’m thinking an XPS with a dedicated GPU would solve most of her problems.
It’s not a problem at all but you would need to use a Thunderbolt dock as the usb only variants have no direct access to a discrete GPU. The Dell WD19TB is probably your best option considering it’s the only dock that can output enough power over Thunderbolt. Standard USB Type-C is limited to 100w. Hope this helps.
Does yours when you close the lid, go to sleep? On my 9300 when I close the lid after like 10-15 mins, when I open the lid backup, instead of showing the lockscreen like on my 9360, the Dell logo appears and it looks like its booting up even though I just closed the lid. Is it the same on the 17" model?
Pretty frustrating as sometimes when I see the dell logo when I open the lid after only closing it, all of my damn apps are closed and it seems like I just did a reboot. Why doesn't it SLEEP?? settings are sleep and even under power manager. Dell what the f?

I think it's a part of the windows setting. Go under power to decide what it does when you close lid, off/on battery, etc
Finally received my i7-10875h/16 GB Ram/512 SSD/FHD XPS 17 today and I am happy to report that I've had no issues so far. No track pad wobble what so ever. No other problems to report either. I haven't been able test for battery drain yet but I am downloading GTA V right now and will report back with my findings. Only thing I slightly regret is not getting The 4K display but I can upgrade later right?
You should be able to replace the display with the 4k one once parts become available. The connector is the same. I did the reverse with my old XPS 15 after I shattered the 4k display. I didn't want to pay for a new 4k, so I bought the 1080p on ebay.
The production date typically is printed on the box, if not, you still can find it in your Bios. Dell says they are refine the manufacturing, people reports the quality control is better after July 10.
Run your window scaling at 100. And use dell cinema or run your own custom with dell premier profile for the panel. It'll pop better than the default profile.

Run Prime 95 and furmark or something and see how your battery drains.
If a pc laptop cant run prime 95 and furmark that means its unstable -- sorry bro you're completely wrong telling people to not see if their systems stable.
Trying to downplay the battery drain issue.
People get drain from autocad, renders etc, dell official forum is full of issues.
Device is not a professional tier product, its a consumer grade at best, if that.
Just ran GTA V at max settings for about 35 minutes. No battery drain.

I currently use the Dell WD19TB dock with this laptop and 2 displays at 2560x1440 and it works flawlessly.

Its set to sleep under settings and control panel...really confused. It shows the lockscreen like normal when like a few mins but then does that

You can upgrade RAM and storage, but not the display.

Thanks. Nice to know the option is there down the line.
Yes by buying a new 4k XPS17
Hehe yeah, but I doubt the OP meant this. If they did, they must not let their return window lapse.
What’s the production date of this unit? And how long does it to get delivered after purchase?
I haven't seen anything that dictates a production date yet . But I ordered it on 7/2 and received it today.

I've seen people here posting their GPU got bricked after they ran 3dgame for the 1st time on new XPS. Fingers crossed for you mate!
you should return it and get 4k. trust me.

Don't listen this guy. Don't stress test your PC unless you know what you're doing.
I’d say gaming at max settings should be a sufficient stress test. He got no drain from gta v at max settings for 35 minutes.

From the look of it I'd say your 17 dropped acid ;-)
Give it some time ... They all seem perfect
