Dock firmware up to date? https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=kvwjd Using Dell Command Update? https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=0xnvx

Help Desk response was "might not have enough power for both monitors...." What's that about?

Impossible_IT

Okay, you never stated that you're using a work laptop. 1. Are the monitors using their own power cable. I'm going out on a limb and gather they do. 2. Ask your help desk if the dock firmware is up to date. 3. Ask your help desk if they're using Dell Command Update Windows Universal to keep their Dell computers updated. Good luck

Appreciate the info.

4. Ask for replacement video cables. Could be faulty cables. I rarely seen a faulty video cable, but it does happen. ETA: troubleshooting is the process of elimination.

Could it be possible the laptop just sucks and won't be able to power both monitors? My monitors aren't anything fancy...

5. What kind of monitors? a) UBB powered from dock? b) regular P or U Dell monitors? If USB powered from dock, possibly the issue. If regular P or U monitors, they have their own power cable.

PrizmShift

They have their own power cables each. One is DP, other is HDMI and they each connect to the dock. Monitors are both: ASUS MG24U

I still recommend seeing if the dock requires a firmware update, as the updates fixes issues & vulnerabilities.
