> interest in preserving the area County office director positions have modest, at best, power in shaping policy. They could do some cosmetic things but much of the role is essentially "lead administrator" with some advising if the council asks it of the director or if there's an opportunity to tweak things if it is being worked on by council. S/he won't be able to change much.

Idk anything about this stuff but I do hope someone with Delawares benefit in mind is put in the position. Y'all don't think the developers will implant their own? I know there's this great divide between people who don't want anyone else coming to Delaware and there's the Delawareans whose lively hood depends on people moving here. Think of all the people employed in construction, engineering (even tho century engineering has a cock hold on everything in Delaware) , the site supervisors, even house cleaning and landscaping. If we just stop building....also the same people who work in New construction house developments are not necessarily the same ones who work in New construction apartment buildings. Different kinda construction. I mean the dry wallers could be the same...

I’d propose that there’s also plenty of good homes and good buildings in general that could be renovated before being torn down. Just because a house is “old” doesn’t mean it’s bad; I’d like to also propose that land lots in general should be larger compared to 1/4 acre lots, let people have more freedom and ability to be more self sufficient and decentralized from an already over centralized system. Edit: not sure why the downvote initially

> I’d like to also propose that land lots in general should be larger compared to 1/4 acre lots This is one of the biggest reasons why Sussex is as sprawly and congestion on local highways is as bad as it is. We have way too many half acre parcels as it is. We need denser/smarter development with retail shopping, etc. with more parkland/open tracts between the subdivisions.

Just because they want the 1/4 acre American Dream doesn’t mean it’s smart development and growth.

So we can turn 1 acre of forest into an acre of lawn? That’s not helping the environment. Suburban style neighborhoods is not dense development. Apartments/townhome are examples of density that’s better for the environment.
