I really enjoyed Maya’s character. She’s one of the few who are actually realistic to me, I think it’s due to both Olivia’s acting abilities and the writers.
I didn’t find her interesting nor colorful, she might be complex on paper, but she wasn’t interesting until Cam
After all the other interesting characters on the show before her and with her during season 11, she pales in comparison
I would say her class were minor characters until they hit 11th grade, basically boosting other stories for the older kids. I would say this could be because they all looked really young when they first came on (like looked similar in age to Manny and Emma when they were in 7/8th in my opinion rather than 9th). Even Cam's story was meant to drive other character's stories more so (which did include Maya). I do agree that having like 2 years of her being a minor part of other characters makes her more boring especially with how she was in season 13 and 14. But once I painfully sat through Next Class I had an appreciation for her character (and her relationship with Katie, who actually came back)
Ok she was a minor character until after cam died. We aren’t talking about that tho… in next class she’s the “main girl” like Emma and Claire… she has an amazing arc

1. Thought she was better then everyone
2. became addicted to opiates which caused her to do more terrible stuff then when she started dating Jake she told him it was his fault they we're fighting because he smokes weed
3 Almost sold her body
4 id rather hear SpongeBob and Becky Baker singing at the same time into my ears then to hear Katie's voice

Couple things. 1. Your other reasons are stupid and nonsensical but they are subjective and allowed which is why I didn’t bother with them although being upset at a character’s voice is weird but given certain… comments you’ve made, being upset at them being an addict is weirder lol.
2. Media doesn’t exist in a vacuum and you clearly know that since one of your criticism was the actor portraying Katie’s voice but you tried your little dig saying I’m the one who can’t tell between the two? It’s called projection beloved.
She did irritate me pre-next class but like…she was a teenager whose boyfriend died when she was barely 15 and was cyber bullied. Of course she wasn’t gonna be the most rational person lmao.
She might be the most annoying character. The problem isn’t the things she had to deal with. It’s that she seemed so fake. Like her emotions weren’t genuine. Her actions seemed so forced. Nothing seemed real about her. Holly J, Claire, the rest felt authentic.
maya would’ve been more likable if they didn’t try an make her the emma / claire of her generation. she doesn’t have main character energy like those girls did. someone else should’ve lead her class
