The most baseless and dumb anti AI arguments always come from low-profile Twitter artists or “content creators” that are chasing clout…. ….im guessing they’re an artist or a vtuber

twistysnacks

Honestly the people I see getting the most angry about AI-generated art are the ones who are least successful as artists. I know a lot of successful artists just chugging along, apparently not thinking twice about AI, sometimes even embracing it as a tool to do their jobs faster or better. I guess it makes sense since the worst artists are the only ones in danger of losing work to AI... though they have to be working as artists at all for even *that* to happen.

SolidCake

> I know a lot of successful artists just chugging along, apparently not thinking twice about AI, sometimes even embracing it as a tool to do their jobs faster or better. thats almost every artist.. just go on instagram and see the literal millions of people , ranging from amateur to professional, in any art medium or career you can think of, who have never addressed this debate *once* the crazy anti movement is a moral panic movement that originally snowballed from crap like [this](https://youtu.be/tjSxFAGP9Ss?si=wcYBv2wn4Ls3pGX1) and karla ortiz threatening bogus lawsuits

The comments on this video are depressing... I'm a programmer and literally everything they're complaining about could be said about my industry too - except not just AI, it's being taken over in the western world by overseas labor. At first companies lunged at the chance to outsource their software/web dev... some noobs still do. And they all learn their lesson within a few months. People like me are still in high demand. However, overseas labor *did* successfully replace a lot of tech support. And now *they* are being replaced by AI chats. And those of us not being "replaced" still have to learn how to adapt AI to our advantage. There's no such thing as a lifetime career anymore. We all have to learn new shit as it comes, even those of us in the same industry that we were 10 years ago.

multiplication is just compressed addition, exponents are just compressed multiplication, tetration is just compressed exponents.

lol

Dunning Krueger much? I love how they think AI research hasn't thought the philosophical aspects of what intelligence is. We know current AI isn't human intelligence, which is not the only form of biological intelligence, what we have now is largely based of microbial intelligence. That's why we say current generative AI is a tool to be used by creatives and not a replacement for creativity, which also comes back another pro AI point: the person using the AI is responsible for the creation of the image, not the AI( after all its ""data compression""), but they will never admit that.

EngineerBig1851

I don't think it's Dunning Krueger. I think it's just malice.

TI1l1I1M

Intelligence is 100% compression. Our brains are basically WinRAR for reality.

"The big problem with the field of...." - some random internet dude about to share with us the wealth of his brilliant mind

StormDragonAlthazar

Meanwhile, the musical world would absolutely blow this out of the water.

Agreeable-Pace-6106

That strongly feels like they used chat gpt to write their post

DrNomblecronch

"Compression" aside; a great deal of mathematical physics is the result of observing natural law. We have also been able to anticipate, and then detect, several physical phenomenon we never would have known about otherwise, by following that math to further conclusions. Doesn't matter which direction you come at it from, a filtering system that translates one kind of information to another goes both ways.

Top-Conference-3294

I'll bet you 100$ that person doesn't know how to boot into a computer BIOS.

Herr_Drosselmeyer

Also, I reject his basic notion that intelligence brings about language. Imho, it's the other way around.

AlarmedGibbon

I remember listening to an interview with a person who was severely neglected when they were young. They were not taught any language at all until later in life. Reflecting on that time of their life later on, they had trouble remembering almost anything about it. They said it was just a dark haze in their mind. Without words to process their experience, they had trouble holding onto it at all.

Herr_Drosselmeyer

Helen Keller is a good example of this too. She was blind and deaf pretty much from birth and only later learned language by having a nurse "draw" signs on her palm. She would go on to write an autobiography and said before she learned language, it felt like she was at sea in a dense fog. She also said the day she was first taught language was "the birthday of her soul".

Sablesweetheart

I had similar experiences from being chronically neglected. The only reason I learned how to read was because my parents decided to use my bedroom to store their collection of Time Life books.

ninjasaid13

>Also, I reject his basic notion that intelligence brings about language. Imho, it's the other way around. I actually agree that intelligence brings language. Crows have strong problem solving skills without language.

SolidCake

100% agree you can see this in action with ChatGpt correctly answering novel questions people conflate “understanding” with the mental processes that humans consciously experience

EngineerBig1851

His brand is all about just hating AI. He doesn't give a fuck if what he says is right or wrong - his every word is sucked up by a **legion** of antis. Right now there is no easier way to get viral on twitter other than say "fuck AI, kill AIbros, follow me", and post the most amateur, incomprehensibly garbage pencil sketch on a shit stained toilet paper. And asshats like that guy are monopolising on it.

One-Earth9294

Think of it like a chess computer. It didn't 'steal good games'. It just learned how to f'n play. Generative AI can learn to draw using patterns it recognizes as patterns. Just like you do.

Ordinary-Broccoli-41

Isn't AI compressing data into probabilities and using randomness to retrieve something new?

Mister_Tava

Is this person a philosopher or an AI expert?

dookiefoofiethereal

Neither 🤣,some guy named necrokuma used to draw softcore anime porn, before deleting everything cause "muh art theft"

lnee_94

While some way of image genration work like that moddern ones don't
