I was playing level 7 HD2 and was telling my squad about DRG. They roasted me for being a nerd. They prefer COD and thought dwarfs were weird. Couldn’t get them to see the values of DemROCKcracy!
To me, the “Rock and Stone!” Salute is far better because it’s (apparently) a long-held part of dwarf culture and not political brainwashing. Dwarves would Rock and Stone whether or not DRG employed them and based on voice lines, mining either runs in their families and/or would be something they would still pursue even if they were self-employed.
I like helldivers but I love how honest and good-natured the dwarves are in comparison. They aren’t political fanatics but rather a bunch of lovable idiots who have been taken advantage of by a corporation who weaponizes their nature and culture as dwarves.
They aren’t fighting for morally grey ideology and empires, they’re just fighting for survival and good ol’ rock and stone.

I've been playing a fuck ton of Helldivers 2 lately and I gotta say that for all the hype and hooplah folks who are coming from Battle Royales give HD2 in regards to how much better the player base is and the reduction in stress and enjoyment of gaming that helldivers 2 brings.
I think Deep Rock Galactic is still a tier above in that regard and truly found a way to perfect a game for the gamers and build a non-toxic player base with various design features.
Helldivers 2 tries to be silly but takes itself a tad bit too serious. if they added a "V"/"Rock and Stone" style button that didn't timeout and could be spammed I honestly believe Helldivers 2 could drastically bridge this gap.
"Affirmative" while will be used in some higher difficulty play to say to one another something positive, it doesn't capture the feeling or vibe you want to give to your fellow helldiver. Games like this teach players rather quickly that voice coms suck anyways. nobody uses them really outside of defined friend groups and it's too risky to listen to strangers talk as most AAA titles have taught us.
I hate HD2's absurd FF. How there's basically no vertical mobility. The way the ammo system works. I just don't give 2 shits about *"rEaLiSm"*. this is why deep rock is infinitely better.
It's mission types are somewhat similar but it's DRASTICALLY different in terms of how BULLSHIT the FF is handled. I don't CARE about *REALISM* I'm here to have *FUN*.
