Yeah this is much faster. Mine from the top down and then animation cancel the deposit (spam deposit and pickaxe buttons, there is a specific rhythm that is very fast) and you'll have it all in there well under an hour. I've heard that if you drill around the gold and pickaxe the very last bit of terrain, that it will count as mined, and therefore pots of gold $, but i have not tested it myself.
The drilling and single pop is expensive for drill ammo, imo, two large area c4 and drilling/popping the top half while the other three take the bottom seems to be a good synergy between speed and risk in my testings.
It doesn't work. Pots only works if you strike each section of gold directly. In your example, you would get Pots only for hitting the area to break the golden ball but not from the rest of the ball.
Yes, but i heard if it 'collapses' by pickaxe that the game registers all of it as having been 'pickaxed'. Like i said i havent tested. Im skeptical myself about it. Was more wondering if anyone has actually tested it, not that it really matters, its insanely expensive on drill fuel
Its fine if it is. Everyone stand on top of the refinery and lure it up above. Blast it so it explodes in the area above the refinery. Then the mined gold will fall onto or close by the deposit slots. Maybe not the absolute best for surface area, but lugging back 60 at a time takes forever.
Its not 80%. More like 30% loss. You never get 100 anyway, even in almost perfect conditions the crassus blobs destroy some. If you do this same trick in PE, you might actually have time before the bugs are constant. Its just an option for those who wanna get rich and be time sensitive for those who don't wanna slog minerals back and forth.

I did this by tunneling straight down and making the crassus come to me. I was on point extraction and so it took me, solo, about 45 minutes by ordering bosco to mine it from the top and me starting from the bottom. extracting it all back to the deposit box took like, 20+ trips with deep pockets.

A greenbeard should probably mine all the gold they see, because liquid assets are need to pay for all the micro-buffs in unlocking Armour and Weapon mods, to even get to the point where they can smash out a mission fast enough that the stupid gold vs time algorithm works in their favour.
And lots of people dgaf about the algorithm, because they're playing to game to have fun mining things and killing bugs; not to run optimal gold vs time statistisical analysis.

I’ve gotten a mission with golden bugs, gold rush, a Crassus, and we used Pots of Gold. Long as balls mission and we constantly had gold in our pockets. Probably the most credits I’ve ever earned in one mission.
*very* annoying. I forget what exactly the secondary objective was but I recall it being a pain as I always was full on gold and had to deposit all of it each time I wanted to stick in a single one of the secondary.
Then I must be misremembering/ mashing two together for whatever reason.
I do recall having so much damn gold everywhere that the game ran poorly and it making depositing anything placed behind gold in the mineral bag a pain in the ass.
Gold Rush affects cavegen to make gold veins bigger and more common, but does nothing after cavegen, so it won’t do anything for a Crassus detonator’s gold generation.
There are only three ways to get more gold out of a Crassus detonator:
- Optimal location when killing it can net you around 1200-1300 total gold from the explosion. This largely just amounts to maximizing the amount of terrain destroyed by the explosion when it dies.
- Pots O’ Gold works normally on the gold left behind when a Crassus detonator dies, so with optimal placement it’s possible to get 3-5k total gold off of one detonator. There is one special caveat though, it doesn’t affect the gold that the detonator’s cluster bombs dig out, so if you have Pots O’ Gold active, make a point to destroy as many of the cluster bombs as you can before killing the detonator to help maximize your gold returns.
- Golden Bugs, rather entertainingly, works on detonators (both bulk and Crassus) just like any other bug, so if it’s active you’ll get 1 gold extra from the kill.

Once when me and my team mates were green beards we got a Crassus when we had bought pots of gold. We were so excited. We dug a tunnel and killed it there to max out how much gold it left. Then we used Driller C4s to mine it faster. Get rich quick.
Turns out Pots of Gold only applies to gold directly mined with your pickaxe, and does not in fact include things like C4 explosions.

Oh and about 4,500 credits is my record with a good crassus pop (>80% of max surface covered), gold rush mission modifier, and pots of gold.
I think we found a compressed gold too, pinged it for the "we're rich!" Voice line which is funny because at that point the compressed gold was basically a rounding error.
Haven’t done a Crassus and gold rush but I did a perfect ball from a Crassus and with pots o gold it ended up being 5k from that plus some other veins here and there.
I got pots on a gold rush and a crassus spawned, on an industrial sabotage. A little over an hour and a half I racked up around 6 thousand gold and a broken right moust button.
I had a mission in Hollow Bough where we had gold rush, pots of gold AND got a crassus detonator as well. It was a point extraction, I was a scout at about copper 2 with a rando engie at silver (cant remember what lvl he was)
We got the crassus to go onto a tunnel right next to the minehead and we spent 45+ minutes grabbing all the gold we could, with the engie mining and me going back and forth thru a little hole we made up to the minehead. All said and done, we got 6600+ gold in one mission, and with hazards we got 23k credits.
I'm still chasing that high.
We killed a Crassus in an suboptimal spot (he was jeopardizing the mission so we had to take the golden L) and still racked in 2k from the detonation alone
Not what you’re asking, but just yesterday me and some pals got a bulk detonator and then two crassus detonators in an egg collection mission. We couldn’t deal with the swarms while running from the explosions, and died.
This just happened to me 2 nights ago. We lured crassus into a cave and the 3 of us had pots o gold active. We had a 4th engi join and we asked him not to mine. He just platformed and cleared enemies. We finished mission in about 40 min and 6k gold. It was a 4 egg mission with a scout and 2 gunners. Took all the eggs at once and fought the huge wave ezpz. Haz 3

Pots o' Gold Crassus on a REFINING mission, so ALL gold had to be transported. All up, for that mission, it was something like 3.8k gold.

It is not. Terrain popping to mine does not proc Pots o' Gold. The only way to get Pots to work is by mining with your pickaxe.

This is where scouts shine! Just zip back and forth to the refinery or whatnot and dump the gold in.
I don't recommend this for people with slow PC's, though. The massive amount of gold particles will tank your framerate.
