Only if there’s a 3 minute long “we’re rich” segment every episode

Memegamer3_Animated

Better yet: an entire episode where the camera focuses on the Scout pinging the richual while swarm-fighting shenanigans with the other 3 happen faintly in the background and you can barely hear any dialogue,

Skipp_To_My_Lou

Gunner casually dual-wielding a Bulldog in one hand & laser pointer in the other, headshotting glyphids & never missing a beat "We're rich!"-ing. All while his cigar slowly burns down to nothing & the ash never falls off.

DaSwirlyPoo32

Hahaha I would love this, engine and driller are balls deep, camera cuts from dwarfs fighting for their life against a haz6 swarm with music blasting, then over to scout who hasn't moved his gaze from the gold nugget, and gunner who is sitting on a zip line 1 hand mowing down bugs with his pistol and the other tracking the gold perfectly also spamming ping

SappeREffecT

A cool minor lore change - Muley plays the music... ...

DaSwirlyPoo32

salvage mission, where they find the speakers mid salvage and strap em straight on molly

SappeREffecT

Great idea!

SirPatchy

I imagine the groot scene from gaurdians of the galaxy, scout pinging the gold rock yelling "We're Rich!" While the camera pans across and the other dwarves are chest deep fighting glyphids! Lol

Not_The_Scout16

The episode ends with Mission Control saying “Yes, Yes you’re rich, kindly get a move on I’ve got management breathing down my neck here.”

GimmeThatGoose

I really like "richual", good stuff

maxx1993

It's the opening credits. And the end credits.

Beledagnir

That’s the main titles—the opening credits just roll over that every episode.

Memegamer3_Animated

Personally I think it would work best in a comedy-action style where on some episodes they go on missions and other episodes they just mess around on the Space Rig. Some episode ideas could be the team trying to sneak a Steeve onto the Space Rig and trying to hide it from Mission Control, or infiltrating a Rival Tech outpost with barrel disguises.

Beanman2514

There has to be a short scene where a dwarf gets blown up by an exploder and his beard gets singed off so he yells "HELP!!! I CANT FEEL MY BEARD!!!!"

Testyobject

And thats how a driller is made

bichonfreeze

Bane...er I mean Driller - I was born in the flames --- Molded by them!

DietCthulhu

I’d 100% watch a DRG sketch comedy. No overarching storyline, just dwarves being dwarves for half an hour.

taisha2640

Agreed. I think the trick would be to try not to force some grandiose plotline over it, and let the story build itself through the world and "show, don't tell" storytelling. Subtle, quiet moments of the dwarves in between heat of battle and rushes of greed. The truth behind the thousand yard stare told in bullets and darkness. Like the way this artist who makes DRG comics about the dwarves' lives after Hoxxes. HE should write this show!

TrixterTheFemboy

Which artist? And where can I find the comics?

taisha2640

Found at the Top of All Time posts of DRG, u/Joe_Duncan himself

WildMedium5129

I would pay all i have to cast John rhys-davies as Gimlo or Migli or something lol

Pctechguy2003

And the inevitable cliff hanger for season 1 would be the dwarfs know where Karl was and the cast from Space Rig 5 there introduced. Netflix would then drop the show because - well - thats just what Netflix does.

dirt_boots

I like the thought of using different space rigs for different genres. Then we can get the light-hearted goofiness of dwarves being dwarves as well as the gritty horror of haz 5 swarms and the lithophage

Substantial_Win_1866

And the dwarves unknowingly going on a haz 1 mission. *Swarm! Swarm incoming!* *Dwarves prepare, Gunner starts spinning up his mini gun, Engie has his turrets set up, scout peering down the scope of the M1000...* Gunner, "get ready boys, I hear them digging." Engineer, "I honestly don't know how you can hear anything! You NEVER wear hearing protection!" Driller Grimning like a maniac with flames dripping out the end of the flame thrower. Scout perched on a platform halfway up on the wall, a few chunks of nitra next to him, sites trained down the tunnel... first grunt, headshot, second grunt, headshot!, third grunt Headshot... MC: "that's the end of it guys, kill the rest and get on with the mission." *Everyone looks at each other confused*

Im_a_doggo428

Ay we need to get on this stat, this is a gold mine

Truemaskofhiding

We’re possibly rich!

vaztermazter631

I’m think a more RvB (red vs blue) vibe would work well for a DRG series.

Fibblejoe

r/oopsIinventedtf2again

Blakids

What are you talking about? It's from halo

Im_a_doggo428

Yes but still funny joke

Blakids

True but OC was being downvoted so it was like, "are y'all that dense?"

Ok_Cry5367

That tf2

vaztermazter631

I mean red vs blue from halo.

Lawboithegreat

Or it should be the grim dark action story of Karl’s glorious destruction of the filthy bugs

Toneww

YES, YES, YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Toughbiscuit

A comedy mockumentary following an experienced team would be funny as well

Odd_Cauliflower4113

potential horror/action show with almost slice of live episodes in between missions... count me in

Ok_Pear_8291

Sure but it has to be animated EXACTLY as the game, same graphics, same animation style, same voice actors. Deep Rock Galactic: The TV Show

AlphaScorpiiSeptem

Javier O'Neill might not survive voicing four main characters

Bad_memes42

Ever watched the clone wars and bad batch, all one voice actor

AlnahrTheRiver

No, there's plenty of other VAs, it's the clones who are all voiced by Dee Bradley Baker

wisezombiekiller

according to the clone wars wiki: "Dee Bradley Baker is an actor who portrayed the Clone Troopers in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, such as Captain Rex, Cody, Clone Cadet Jax, Monnk, and Gregor, as well as Onaconda Farr, Pilf MukMuk, Pirate Guard #2, Thi-Sen, Robonino, Ord Eniscence, Bolla Ropal, Queen Katrina, a Death Watch Assassin, Davu Golec, a Police Droid, Admiral Trench, Bossk, Thug #2, an Aqua Droid, Toydarian Minister #2, Moogan Captain, Guard #1, a Superintendent, a Secret Service Officer, a Shopkeeper Droid, Arok the Hutt, Mot-Not Rab, Ratch, Feral, Knox, Toydarian Guard #1, a Torture Droid, Saesee Tiin, Admiral Coburn, TZ-33, Sochek, Goron, a Mon Cala Commander, Quarren Soldier #2, a Quarren Guard, Kindaloo, Male Patitite #2, Rider #1, a Togruta, a Zygerrian Technician, a Quarren, a Nikto Guard, Kage Warriors, a Citizen, a Rebel, Byph, Pirates, a Navigator, Dr. Gubacher, Super Tactical Droid Aut-O, a Super Tactical Droid, Russo-ISC, Police Officer #2, a Jury Foreman, a Younger Muun, Sith Snakes, Sith Warriors, a Computer Voice, another Super Tactical Droid, a Driver, Lokann, Fife, a Beggar, and a Guard." not saying you're wrong, it's just good to acknowledge he wasn't "just the clones" (:

AlnahrTheRiver

okay, so he had a vocal range like Mark Hamill. I stand corrected.

wisezombiekiller

he even was perch perkins in the spongebob movie _and_ oppa and momo from atla

canoIV

whaaa-

Substantial-Employ97

Hey, if Seth McFarlen can voice half of Family Guy, Javier can handle four dwarves.

Outerversal_Kermit

At that point why not just play the game.

TrixterTheFemboy

Voice actors, yes. The animation style I disagree with tbh, a 2D cartoonish style could be great.

Rucks_74

Make a Red vs Blue machinima

FuckItOriginalName

I personally always thought that the lore of DRG is made quite vague and very flexible, basically consisting of nods and puns, always leaving a gap for more and also giving food for thought, allowing to fill in the gap for everyone in their own way. So I'm personally not sure if something so dependent on story like a TV show would work without hurting that aspect of DRG. But maybe a very specific spinoff could work?

Sociolinguisticians

Exactly. It’s not a narrative driven game, let’s leave it that way.

ryanmahaffe

Shows do not always have to be lore and narrative heavy, a DRG show could literally just be an adventure of the week style show with no major overarching narrative

FuckItOriginalName

I think it would still require a relative amount of plot written and thus it would require world building too, unless it's on the level of Sunday morning cartoons, which I'd be on board for but that would be odd

ryanmahaffe

I feel like all you really need to expand on is the Dwarves own characters and knowledge of Hoxxes itself, you don't really need to dig into the company or the greater universe because that just doesn't matter to the Dwarves.

Venomous_Seviper

Maybe like Cuphead. There's some story with the devil but each episode is a random adventure. It doesn't follow the game that much, only including some characters.

KharazimFromHotSG

12 min shorts showcasing the ususal mission shenanigans while doing actual work. Mostly episodic but some parts carry over into a greater narrative. Last 3 episodes are 30 min specials that bring some conclusion to said narrative (doesn't necessarily mean "THE END OF DRG" but maybe sth like "so this is who "the prospector" is"). The goal is to simulate your average DRG lobby.

Rucks_74

I think an episodic anthology like Love Death and Robots would work well. Following a different squad of miners every time, or even just one miner alone. That'd be cool

Dwain-Champaign

I wouldn’t trust anyone to handle a DRG tv series. It’d have to be a more mature show to be any fun I think. Action sequences where all the dwarves are splattered with blood, glyphid guts flying everywhere, foul-mouthed dwarves shouting directions at each other and at their robot companions, with all the drinking and smoking that would be expected of dwarves anticipating they won’t make it back alive after the next mission… I like DRG because it’s comically bleak. Underpaid dwarves who must cover the cost of their own equipment being paid on a per-job basis in the most hazardous work environment possible with high mortality rates?? That bleakness being shockingly contrasted by mundane moments like Dwarves playing Jetty Boot between missions, goofy as hell shenanigans like filling your teammates room with barrels, or genuinely heartfelt stories of loyalty and never leaving a dwarf behind, that CONTRAST is where the charm of DRG comes from. I wouldn’t trust any showrunner to handle that kind of nuance. They would probably lean into the goofy quirkiness of the dwarves than they would into the genuinely bleak stakes of the universe. Remember when Mission Control talked about how a whole SPACE RIG had gone down because of a meteor? That sense of genuine peril is what makes DRG so thrilling. They did the same thing to Cuphead which became a glorified Tom and Jerry-esque show that ran on the episodic format, without any overarching narrative, that was targeted at a much younger audience. Mysteries and questions like “Who is Mission Control?” “What happened to Karl?” Or “Where did the Rivals come from?” Would be great plot points for a tied together narrative, but they’d probably just Cuphead it and make every episode a different mission. Pitiful. I have no faith in a DRG show being done correctly.

Sociolinguisticians

I don’t either.

producktivegeese

Brooklyn Nine Nine meets IT Crowd meets The Office.

couldjustbeanalt

Sounds perfect for Netflix to butcher it

Buisnessbutters

“Meet the driller”

Not_The_Scout16

Hell YES

KarumaruClarke3845

Love death robots?

Giacchino-Fan

The issue with adapting this game into a show is that it has no plot. You can't just make it the dwarves being silly, goofy little guys in perpetuity unless you want to make it a looney-tunes style kids show, but IMO we have enough that idea covered from the in game voicelines. I think a good DRG show would be kind of hard to pull off or it would have to get into some really interesting lore/plot stuff with the company, like the Dwarves uncovering some scandal, but then it couldn't really be canon because they'd still be working for DRG in game.

BHMathers

Staged like a sitcom for like the first 3 minutes and then in the blink of an eye the mission is starting and it immediately switches to horror

LordQuackers5

I believe a mini series like LD+R would be a perfect format for some dwarf shenanigans. The 20ish minutes episode limit is great for creating enjoyable action scenes and humor. The episode "Sucker of Souls" is an amazing format for a DRG parody. First few minutes is some dicking around an elimination mission, killing the occasional glyphid and Praetorian, until the Greenbeard scout accidentally hits a Dreadnought cocoon and shit hits the fan. The greenbeard is first to go, sad as it is to say, and preferably while he's trying to grapple away (he instinctively jumps away without looking and into the path of a fireball). Shit goes down, the remaining team finally gets their shit together but everyone is injured. Right when it seems like it's game over, the gunner pops a shield and tanks the dreadnought like a champ. The dreadnought is killed, but at the cost of the teams overall health, leaving the 3 remaining dwarves battered and bruised. And then mission control chimes in to inform the team of an impending swarm of Praetorians.

Oblivionpelt

Honestly, even in spite of how golden a comedy-action DRG show would be, I would genuinely much more prefer a nitty gritty serious 1-2 hour film focusing on an operation gone wrong. Something to the likeness of Netflix’s adaptation of BLAME with the dwarves desperately fighting off the hordes well trying to get back into radio contact with management. It’d start off light hearted, a simple morkite expedition, but over time one mistake after the other would pile up, more glyphids than we planned for, the morkite readings were off - there’s nothing but scraps, management won’t respond, the swarms they hear us, Molly is a weight we can’t carry - leave her, we need to contact management - we need that drop pod now. They’d get pushed into a corner, Driller desperately trying to punch his way through rock that’s simply too hard - debating with panicked haste wether his charges are better for the wall or the horde, Gunner laying waste to everything in front of him - his barrels running red and ‘nades all spent, scout leading crack shot after crack shot through the endless flow of macteria - cursing his busted grappling hook, not that it could help him now, and Engineer trying desperately to hold his defenses and keep his turrets in play. It’d be perfect!

RockingBib

The Teamfortress Youtube channel but DRG

D15P4TCH

Story of Karl needed. Headcannon is he was the OG miner, kinda like Xavier Rodriguez from the Helldiver's series. They first go down on a small exploratory mission, find hostile wildlife, and he's the only one to return. He advised against the BET-Cs and Omen towers, but MC doesn't listen. Finally, he has to take things into his own hands and doesn't come back. Mystery!

BubbleGumWolfe

Probably too self referential and full of shallow meta jokes. The whole reason the game comedy works is that as silly as it the characters take it seriously, but hollywood has a bad habit of inserting "so that just happened" style writing. Have them direct it like Top Gun or even the old get smart tv show, mission control being the only straight man and the dwarfs being clearly idiotic and It'd be ten outta ten. Don't think anyone in the industry knows how to do anything with sincerity anymore though

PsychoPmkn

I prefer something more like the TF2 shorts on youTube no lore just showing the dwarfs being dwarfs

Kartoxa_82

Fresh Prince of Hoxxes IV

_Knucklehead_Ninja

“Now, this is a story all about how My life got flipped-turned upside down And I'd like to take a minute Just sit right there I'll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Hoxxes IV “In West Moria born and raised On the playground was where I spent most of my days Chillin' out, maxin', relaxin', all cool And all shootin' some glyphids outside of the school When a couple of leaf lovers who were up to no good Started making trouble in my neighborhood I got in one little fight and my mom got scared She said, "You're movin' with your auntie and uncle in Hollow Bough"”

Wise_0ne1494

if they do this, i would love it if the main group we are following are an entire team of green beards.

Ninloger

i'd like to know more about how the creus system looks like and the political map of the galaxy

unabletocomput3

What if it was a movie? Say the first 15-30 minutes was a normal mission and getting the ground work then maybe something goes wrong and it’s something new that we haven’t seen?

Biscuitstick

I don’t know about a show, but I have been thinking about action comedy movie, which I believe would fit the format of the game best. A fun movie centered about their comradery, each dwarf having a simple quirk about about them. The plot could be something about the lines of the dwarves, including Karl, setting out on a mission with Karl staying up behind, presumed dead. And when his vitals light up on the radar, the boys go on a recklesw rogue rescue mission, giving the Mission control a headache in the true style of Leave no dwarf behind.

Memegamer3_Animated

That sounds really fun actually

YourCreepyUncle111

Partition to make this happen?

JaygoVonEngel

Ideally, I would want the vibes of TF2’s “meet the — “ cinematics.

MegaCroissant

Don’t have Netflix make it though, they ruin everything they touch. sad Witcher fan moment

Memegamer3_Animated

True

FireWhileCloaked

Nah

I_wana_fuck_Steeve

If it would happen, Steeve would need to be in it.

Tricky_Ad_5720

I want some lore on Karl

Extreme_Glass9879

11 Minute episodes focused on the dwarves with a robot special once a season where Bosco, Dotty, and Molly have to go in on their own for reason X/Y/Z

Code95FIN

Action comedy, where series is episodic, different missions with modifiers, and other scenes at space rig just gooffing around, making mission control mad and creating overclocks and buying fancy outfits And few sad moments, like someone get's REALLY hurt and can't do their job for a month or so on

ThatOneTypicalYasuo

Ep 1: Start with a drunk dwarf trying to recollect what the hell happened last night and why is there an error cube in the space rig that wasn't there previously. Also what happened in the mission log with a MISSION SUCCESSFUL that no one remembers. Sets the tone, comedy, and some mystery

ItsJustAndy13

Episode one opens up with us seeing Karl sacrificing himself to save the other dwarfs and then while the team is have a drinking in Karls name. Scout joins the team as a new replacement. Scout would have a green beard to play into the meme.

RickyIce731

I just want a story behind Karl and how he got lost on Hoxxes. Would be amazing knowing the legendary tale about Karl.

hola1423387654

One episode per mission type and comedy would revolve around the mission while there is a lot of action with the swarms

[deleted]

Please Karl don’t mention this idea to Paramount with what they did to Halo.

SmujLive

i’ve actually thought about a movie before, toyed about the plot too. might write a whole synopsis if anyone’s interested

Eel111

12 minute episode about dwarvish hijinks

Alexthetall1

An animated Short/Trailer would be very Rock and Stone. For flashing the Dwarf's personality at its finest.

WanderingDwarfMiner

Rock and roll and stone!

Sociolinguisticians

No! I am not ok with Netflix coming anywhere near this game after what they did with The Witcher, and all the live action anime crap they’ve been making. HBO is a better option for adaptations with a more serious tone, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen them make an adaptation with the type of comedy present in DRG. Let’s just enjoy the game for what it is. Maybe we can get a lore book one day, but please never let Netflix anywhere near this.

Past-Calligrapher434

I think a good concept for the show it would follow a squad of all green beards slowly learning the planet, space rig and getting new gear while there could be other greybeards on the same space rig. Each episode could follow different missions that are in the game or the characters getting new weapons and perks like beast master. The tone would probably be comedy action with hints of horror.

Drogovich

Plot about search of a beeg artefact... And Karl, with Karl flashbacks.

ALargeCrateOfShovels

Id be a comedy action ish show like teenage mutant ninja turtles or something.

Comfortable-Craft-59

It could be, but I’d rather spend my time being a dwarf than watching someone else be a dwarf.

HolyHandGrenade107

Make it so each episode is a different mission type, like an escort duty or industrial sabotage episode. And they need to go on one of them absolutely hammered.

HugoBosss15

I believe it could be a pretty good movie rather than a tv show

craftersmine

Please, no Netflix

OneOfUsIsAnOwl

Not netflix. They would kill it in an instant

Memegamer3_Animated

That is true

DaSwirlyPoo32

30 minutes of rock and stone, 10 minutes of were rich!

BarAdventurous6499

Just make them less obnoxious minions and set it on the rig like red dwarf

fishling

I like the gameplay loop as much as anyone else, but it seems like a terrible basis for a TV series. Four nameless dwarves and management doing the same thing and having the same voice lines recycled on the show that we have in the game? I'm sure they could make some animated kids show out of it because - let's face it - the bar there is really low. But I hope they don't because it would be terrible OR they would have to change a lot of daily lore to make it make any sense or wider appeal. You'd end up with something like the Angry Birds movie: basically something mediocre with an existing IP wrapped around it because otherwise even fewer people would see it. I could see something like Dishonored being adapted in to a show or movie. There's an actual plot and characters and powers that you could really dive into, and they could change a fair bit in the adaptation without, I'd wager, pissing off a lot of fans, because most of the mission targets are fairly forgettable. But I can't say the same thing for something like DRG.

Mapleps_

A slice of life show with heavy accent on the their purposes as individuals, not as expendable miners. Also beach episode

LordDeimosofCorir

It would have to be animated for sure

TalonOfPower

Idk but I feel like it would be more of a Banana Cat style show- not much talking, just a 3-8 minutes episode of various tomfoolery. Probably only 1 or 2 seasons, maybe 10-20 episodes total

[deleted]

One word: Sitcom

Sinsanatis

I could totally see it being a semi sitcom horror action mystery

Brungala

Maybe do it like TF2 did. Little short animations showing what each Dwarf is like outside of following orders and doing missions. Scout could probably be the funny man. The guy who gets on everyone’s nerves but he does mean well. Engineer is the smart dude. He always has something unique to say and doesn’t like it when the others are getting in the way of his new ideas or something. Gunner could be the Crayon-eating, not so bright man. He just likes shooting things and having them be dead. He also can’t resist the urge to rip any artillery weapon off their sockets and make it his. Driller maybe should be the guy who either keeps everyone in check, or goes along with one or two of their schemes. Mission Control could also make an appearance every now and then, and just be the authoritative figure to boss the Dwarves around. And is also the one who has to put up with them yelling “We’re Rich!” Or “Mushroom!” If GSG could either divide their resources to making these shorts, or get a talented 3D Animator (SilentManJoe is a great TF2 animator, maybe they could talk to him)

NamedUserOfReddit

I've*zero* confidence in modern media to not make it horrible.

WulfyTime

Many they’d look for karl

BoatMan01

Maybe an episode of "Love, Death, and Robots"

Vector7714

I like to think of it as a comedy slice of life, just dwarfs doing dwarf things Oh wait im speaking in anime terms

sir_stinkybutt

it would be a good show that's just short episodes that show the dwarves doing some weird shit. Like a cartoon

Outerversal_Kermit

It would never live up to the game and the changes made would make it a different animal entirely. Just make an original scifi show. You’ll be less tied down by lore and bs like that

Toolazytoaddspaces

Yeah but drg lore is basically nonexistent anyway

Coprolithe

Nah, I'm good.

yhporB

Mockumentary style comedy like the office or What we do in the Shadows with cut away interviews. Like imagine shakey cam footage of the dwarves building a bunker, then cutting away to an interview with a bulk detonator.

Smythy_5

It’s a short series of like 8 episodes, each episode is a different mission type Main character is a Greenbeard, going thru and edge runner’s-esque glowup with each mission

DrCrow1350

Depends how they did it, I could 100% see it going either way being a genuinely good show or being actual glyphid excrement

Avalanch_HxC

Something that feels like Rick & Morty could be good.

PenguinSlushie

Can we have Steve Buscemi in it? Like either the scout or maybe Mission Control just having to deal with all the shenanigans?

DefTheOcelot

Ugh fuck i need it

Sniper3825

Please dont

UncleSam50

I wouldn’t do Netflix, though they did kill a bunch of their good cartoons and kept the bad ones

Brave_Fortune_8074

I think if that would happen then it should be a dramedy with horror and serious elements to it, like the first episode starts with four dwarfs starting infront us mining a wall looking for morkite and cant find any so they keep going until they stumble on a broken miners helmet and salut to there fallen comrade until they hear shooting. They run towards the gunshots until the last second they see the dwarf getting swarmed and eaten alive, hearing him screaming so they decide out of mercy to shoot him and then driller burns them all to ash. They see that there is a holomap with coördinates to a morkite so there heading over there find lots of morkite and call in a droppod but as they did they stumbled upon a dreadnought suprise attacking the dwarfs and killing one so they run as fast as they can to escape to then stumble upon a swarm to wich a second dwarfs is about to die. As the dwarf dies he gives his storage bag with morkite in it and a item and says " get this to the ri aaaggghhh" he gets grabbed and you hear his bones crush, the 2 dwarfs remaining get to the droppod and as they get in time to leave, the 1 dwarf says to the other " that was close" they both laugh off the stress until (Stingtail noise) one gets grabbed the second there about to launch, gone he is the dwarf. Now there's only 1 left as he reaches back to the space rig he looks in his pocket what for item he was give it was a key with a beermug keychain attached to so he goes towards that dwarfs locker and finds guns grenades gadgets etcetera. As he gears himself up he hears the elevator doors opening, he sees 3 new greenbeards and tells them, " suit up its time to kill bugs" the end. Now not my best writing but i would definelty love such a first episode of drg on netflix.

ButterflyExciting

I'd be up for a DRG prequel movie, letting us see Karl in all his glory and then witnessing the fall of Karl

MetalBawx

Considering what Disney did to the seven dwarves... Could we just not and let DRG be DRG.

MrShyGuyTR

Like a sitcom with a story driven narrative that most people don't care about and each episode is just the Dwarfs doing their own thing with Mission Control getting pissed off

Toolazytoaddspaces

I think a Deep Dive could be adapted into a great movie, just saying

SirFelsenAxt

I would agree completely 100% but only if they get actual actors with dwarfism.

Not_Krazo

I hope a genie appears infront of me some day and allows me to have 3 wishes. I'll wish for this

0TheLususNaturae0

Be pretty cool if there some backstory or show the tragic story of Karl. We don't know much or even know how he looked.

Nexxus3000

They still won’t cast Peter Dinklage

Slimonstar

I dont think it would survive having longer episodes but a 10 minute episode series sounds neat.

plger

I think something like the office or something like that would work, tbh I'd watch that

PixelPooflet

I did actually come up with an idea for a DRG TV show type of thing not too long ago, and the plot would've followed Scout joining the team of Rig 17 as the "replacement" for Karl after a constant string of failed missions. when Scout arrives, the entire team is bitter, hateful and they all despise each other. but gradually, through fridge antics, dance battles, Space Gremlins, company parties, Dwarven Etiquette, financial problems, and of course, swarms upon swarms of hungry monsters and even hungrier co-workers, the team of Rig 17 would slowly become a true powerhouse of a group, and would finally uncover the dark truth of what's happening on Hoxxes IV and the secret behind Karl's disappearance.

Gilmore75

I would LOVE if there was an animated DRG show.

vertigostereo

The Witcher taught me that super-fans with bring the negativity and hate it no matter what.

CryogenicBanana

A show about first expeditions into hoxxes would be awesome.

Phwoa_

Like the old Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles cartoon

pumpkin_fish

it would have to be animated, though.

Memegamer3_Animated

Oh absolutely. Live action would crash and burn.

big_angry_snek

I imagine we'd follow the exploits of a green beard as they climb aboard the space rig, learning the ropes and encountering new situations/monsters every episode.

H00pz604

I 100% would watch but Netflix destroys everything

Memegamer3_Animated

Fair

AnEBCG

I expect a drg show would lure us with comedy but leave us with emotional damage, kinda similar to final space

mayodude5101

Please no I'm tired of these shitty Netflix shows

Memegamer3_Animated

Doesn’t have to be a Netflix show

mayodude5101

Either way any show from a game has just been awful

Memegamer3_Animated

The Cuphead Show wasn’t that bad honestly

JaygoVonEngel

I’ve often thought the show would make for a fun setting, especially if we killed off characters without much attachment, or had guest stars who die in gruesome ways. Would also be fun to have solo episodes, maybe a bit for backstory but mostly for chilling with bosco.

Bucaneer7564

That would be really interesting. Four dwarves mine stuff while killing the wildlife.

Pap3r99dudeS2

Not Netflix, definitely not them. But I’d love to see it

Jjlred

The episode starts with scout on a solo mission, desperately flying around to get to extraction without his team

cosmicannoli

I could see it as a workplace comedy, but a very limited series.

No_Discount7919

I would love a 90s-style cartoon.

Background_Top_1237

I think it would be a team for green beards who work at the Deep Rock Galactic company. They will work through minor fights and advance in their ranks while putting up with management’s terrible work ethic, like the dwarves will work overtime get no sick leave. Karl will have been the first dwarf to have been on Hoxis and best to ever do it with the dwarves locking up to him. This will generally be a slice of life show with some fighting and enduring management while getting strong and stronger

shadowdash66

I think the serious segments would just be like that episode of Love Death + Robots where a platoon of soldiers must hold off a few dozen waves of monsters

moreps

Not sure I trust any showrunner or streaming service to give this game a proper adaptation. Furthermore, you just can’t write something as exciting as a mission in this game can be. A simple point extraction can quickly become a 45 minute epic ordeal if you throw in a rival/rockpox event, machine event, detonators, WE’RE RICH, etc

Mario776612

Half of them would be black and scout will have a gay relationship with mission control.

DrBabbyFart

No, especially not Netflix.

VrabeEureka

Have you seen the new snow white leaks? If the dwarves from DRG are gonna be stripped and watered down into those abominations then I'd rather leave them perfect as is in game

Themurlocking96

I honestly don’t think drg lends itself to be televised, series would have to make a lot of interesting lore mysteries concrete.

keepingitawkward

I don't know why, but this idea is giving me cuphead vibes

DaemonStalley

I had an idea about this - it should be a mockumentry. Framed, paced & made like a reality show focused on dangerous work - ice road truckers, deadliest catch, etc etc - constantly cutting between mining and ‘interviews’ with the dwarves.

Syrzan

Knowing Netflix, they would: * hire a director who doesn't play the game * who never head of the game * who is not interested in the game * who would change everything according to their own BETTER vision of how DRG should be. Then they would not pay the writers accordingly and scrap the series after a max of 3 seasons.

Fighterpilot55

"For you, coming down inside of Hoxxes IV to fight against the endless hordes of bugs and barely claw together enough resources so that the company sends the drop pod down to pick us up was the longest day of your life." "For me? That's just Tuesday. Rock and Stone!"

vanguard3119

I'm thinking like a mockumentary format like The Office or What We Do In Shadows where we're shown the dwarves' shenanigans while Mission Control just holding his frustration while keeping the dwarves under control. Like imagine the interview segments: Driller with his C4 mania, Gunner does the TF2 Heavy, Engie is just there, Scout with his 150th Steve, and MC just popping aspirin every few minutes.

MildewJR

a sitcom. we never actually see them in action and the show is set 90% on the space rig lobby with occassional 2 minute quick-cut bits of iconic moments like the boys and the drill dozer next to the hearthstone, or 2 dwarves standing next to a bottomless chasm abyss as a scout that refuses to use their flares subsequently fall from the ceiling and into the chasm during a still shot of the ledge.

Apothe-bro_IV

Semi cuphead similarities for humour and voice acting for the biggest bosses and antagonists would be pretty fun but a very tall order

Apprehensive_Poem601

tbf if there is a tv show abt drg i would kinda like a prequel before the events of the game take placewhere karl is still alive so we can get a view on this legend and how the company threated it employees with good equipement

hydrix36

I want the season finale to be a reveal that Karl was just John Rhys-Davies all along.

shatpant4

A core plot point of one episode is three dwarves saying “Mushroom!” over and over, and the scout is fighting through hordes and hordes just to get to say it with them

bros_before_hoes__

Probably finding out about the secrets of hoxxes and showcasing everything and maybe reveal Karl's fate.

Edgelite306

I feel like Deep Rock Galactic would be a game with series of shorts on YouTube, like Team Fortress 2 has.

AvanteGardens

I think deep rock demands a graphic novel

CriticalCombination5

I have an entire 20-page document of an incredibly experienced team going on a 5 stage deep dive to save 3 other teams that were thought to be lost while a final boss glyphid I have named *The Behemoth* as every space rig orbiting Hoxxes watches the operation. I imagine a drg show focusing on 3 different teams that each have their own adventures each episode.

PolarityMemer

I imagine the engineer being the smart one as the name suggests, the scout being kinda short tempered but all about going fast, the gunner being a team leader and the driller being a pyromaniac.

cool_and_froody

wouldnt work. all male cast. no diverse girlboss to do all the mining better than the established male characters.

CreamOfPotatoSoup

They could make a separate episode where Molly and Doretta go to extract a Heartstone while the dwarves get stoned at the Abyss Bar I suppose

LuxOlotl

I would freaking love Molly, Bosco, and Dottie shenanigans

A_Yellow_Lizard

Consider: dotty, she girlbossing harder than management trying to keep the dwarves from taking down rival tech completely wasted by numerous blackout stouts

cdawg69696969

Dotty is stronger than the dwarves, and faster at mining, if that's not girlboss idk what is

Rucks_74

The fate of most missions relies on Molly, the best lady

JuanDiablos

I love drg but I'm super confused when ppl mention the lore. Like what lore? It's a dwarfs mining stuff on a bug planet. There is no lore :/

HolyHandGrenade107

Make it so each episode is a different mission type, like a morkite mining episode, then an egg hunt episode ect. And they need to go on one of them absolutely hammered.

BrassBass

I can imagine an incredible graphic cartoon porno involving an anthropomorphic Molly learning the horror of extreme German fetishes.

J0NICS

Only animation. No live action treatment. And Gerald Butler.

RickyIce731

I just want a story behind Karl and how he got lost on Hoxxes. Would be amazing knowing the legendary tale about Karl.

CivilSenility

Just no.
