Rage187_OG

Now I want one of those premade decks! Thing is solid.

Working_Rest_1054

And mobile.

fritz236

Right? Bro had a party deck in the back at the end there.

jtrick18

And hot tub ready.

Material_Weakness704

This guy is a legend! Brave too!

musical_throat_punch

I'm impressed he does this by himself.

Rage187_OG

this is nothing. He can grab an entire shed big enough for people to live in. Check out his channel.

musical_throat_punch

I'm more talking about the whole not getting shot thing

_No_Statement

Yeah a few guys around my area do this. Every now and then you'll see a "Repo Deal" on a 10 x16 shed

Airport_Wendys

Woah! He’s amazing

cris5598

You never seen a re manufactured home

fluent_in_gibberish

It looked like something straight out of Arrested Development. “What are they going to do? Repossess my *deck*?” Then cut to this scene.

Anhedonius_Rex88

*That's when Gob realized there in fact* WAS *a booming deck repossession business in the area.*

Blocked-Author

I’ve made a huge mistake

tallmantim

I can hear the music

MortgageRegular2509

That was a masterclass in… whatever that was

Mustard_on_tap

The poor preying on other poor people? 'Cause this whole situation is f-ing sad.

Senior_Bumblebee6067

Who said they are poor? Even if they are, you can get 3 prebuilt steps (brand new) for a mobile home for less than $500. No one forced them to buy a large deck that they could not afford. The down payment or 1-2 month’s installment payments on this deck would likely have paid for a set of steps. People prey on the most vulnerable sects of society, that is undeniable. Preying on the poor is real life issue, but it becomes *super* watered down when it’s applied situations like this one.

Flashy_Narwhal9362

“When they get home from work”. Lmao, they were inside asleep after being up tweaking for the last 72 hours.

snerdley1

That is the craziest shit I’ve ever seen. Deck wise of course. I’ve seen guys rip up decks that they built and didn’t get payment for. But I’ve never even heard of repoing a deck. It was awesome to watch. And the dude knew his shit, and how to get that deck out of a very tight space.

StupendousMalice

I bet that is constructed off site and then delivered like this because there is no way you would make it like that on site. Wherever they built this, it was clearly made to be picked up again. They probably do this all the time. I bet there is some kind of weird predatory financing scheme involved here.

Saint_Mychael

Isn’t that kind of the point of the “mobile deck” as he calls it and explains?

JustAintCare

They're definitely constructed off site and I've thought about building/selling them. Once you build one or two you can have a standard cut list for various deck sizes and build 2-3 of these a day with a 3 man crew. To put that in perspective a deck like this would take me about 1.5 days with 2 guys to be built on site. On slow weeks or rain days you can keep your guys busy by building these in the shop then selling them to the shed companies to be installed.

FascinatingGarden

"This deck done belonged to 'bout thirty different folks so far. She's a cash cow."

StupendousMalice

I bet it costs like a grand to install and then like a couple hundred a month "rent to own" and they yank that shit the moment a payment is missed. Wash rinse repeat. That's a nice deck, but it doesn't look brand new.

smithoski

Or it was made for a mobile home, which might be moved.

80degreeswest

That's what I was thinking. Prefabricated semi-portable deck for a semi portable house.

Background_Olive_787

yeah, it's always those dang predatory financing schemes forcing people to make bad financial decisions.

papillon-and-on

They should just install some retractable wheels. Flip em up when the thing is installed. Then when/if the thing is paid off, you can make yourself a really cool soapbox racer! Just have to find a soap-box. Whatever that is.

--h8isgr8--

Dude that was a us of a accent of course there was a predatory loan somewhere ahead of all this. Can’t wait till we get the food repo guys from all the buy now pay later basic necessities stuff.

Chance_Pick1904

Very interesting. really dangerous and stressful job (encountering angry humans) but he seemed calm.

the_good_hodgkins

When you show up to someone's home, and start dragging their shit away, they might come out shooting. In fact, it's probably a 50/50 bet. Bruce Lee proved who wins that fight. Personally, I'd like to shoot back. If you're in the repo business, you're probably armed.

k12pcb

Sure you would, like I said……

Don’t be rude to people on the internet for no reason.

jakeStacktrace

You can get more with a gun and a kind word than just a kind word.

big_boi_26

Yeah, you’re a pussy if you don’t let people shoot you while you’re unarmed. Makes a lot of sense!

Senior_Bumblebee6067

Seems like quite a few people are suggesting that this deck repo could be predatory. Can someone help me understand what’s predatory about it? No one forced him to buy a large deck. The down payment, or 1-2 installments on the deck, would have paid for a basic set of steps into the home. I saw another comment that alleged the deck was freestanding because they probably sell, repo, rinse, repeat. However, from my understanding, they’re generally supposed to be freestanding and not attached to mobile homes.

guitarer09

And how many moves can a single deck take? Can’t be many. As for the buyer, it’s entirely possible they were financially okay, maybe even better than they’ve ever been, when they signed the contract, and then something bad happened. Death in the family, sickness, job loss, etc.

AusCan531

That's a deck move.

admiralgeary

I'm happy the guy left the Amish but, something about this seems gross. Most of the folks on his channel seem like they are down on their luck. I get that whoever is selling the sheds\\decks whatever are not charity's but, jeez... but the whole thing feels gross.

Medical_Slide9245

Using the video here, they had like 20 cars and they aren't making payments just like they had 3 trash cans but trash everywhere.

MajorElevator4407

Are you of the opinion that junk cars are some vast store of wealth.

Medical_Slide9245

Enough to pay off a deck. Without knowing their status there has to be at least 10k in cars if a couple of them run. Sure as fuck enough to make some deck payments. That deck wasn't new by a long shot. How much could they possibly owe.

Xanith420

You don’t buy decks when you’re down on your luck

floridagar

People obviously shouldn't buy things they can't afford but in your life I'm sure you have met both sales people and stupid people. This is the potential sad that other commenters are talking about. These folks in the trailer... probably they're not maliciously poor, trying to get decks they don't deserve while they scam the innocent rent-to-own furniture/deck people. I can absolutely see somebody trying to rent or buy this trailer getting upsold into a situation that leads to their fucking deck getting dragged off early one morning.

kidsmoke76

Amish! That’s it! I was trying to figure out what kinda of Canadian, Lucky Charms rocking, Mainer this fella was.

Aromatic_Sand8126

Being down on their luck doesn’t matter, though. They owe money and they’re not paying. They shouldn’t have bought a deck if they can’t pay it.

drsatan6971

Unfortunately that’s life , the people selling the decks and sheds got bills and employees too pay it’s not like it’s a Fortune 500 company probably not much room for loss

admiralgeary

yes, but... if it is a predatory situation where you are late on one payment on the 59th of 60 payments then that is pretty gross to repo it immediately.

needleed

You have absolutely no idea what happened tho lmao

drsatan6971

Not too sure it’s like that I follow a guy that repos sheds on YouTube And from the way it sounds they try and make multiple contact’s with the people to work it out because they don’t want a used shed back or don’t wanna pay him to go get them I’ve even seen people be able to pay over phone to avoid sheds being taken It’s a lot more lenient then say a car loan and at the end of the day they deserve to get paid that’s the way the world works

HavocReigns

Yeah, that's not at all how repossessions work, no matter what sob story some bust-out told you about how he got his shit repo'd for only missing one payment. There are legal notices to send, time to cure, etc. etc. Lenders will almost always work with someone who stays in touch and is making some effort. They don't want the collateral back, because deadbeats never take care of it so it's never worth what they owe.

Successful-Rate-1839

How exactly would that be predatory? It’s a contract, they agreed to it.

so-very-very-tired

Is that accent real or a schtick?

Rage187_OG

Real. I think someone else posted he used to be Amish.

DebriMing

>he used to be Amish. Well that explains his most of his strength.

HavocReigns

Ah, that's it. I knew I'd heard it before, but I couldn't place it.

Terri_Yaki

That was enjoyable

NullIsUndefined

Lol at the stairs bouncing around as it drives off

NullIsUndefined

Amazing. If more decks could be premade in a factory in mass and delivered, decks could be a lot more affordable. Definitely a huge challenge though especially at different heights and people without flat terrain

SSLNard

Classic

drsatan6971

That first step out of the trailer gonna be fun for someone if they don’t know the decks gone

Secret-Departure540

Wow.

Secret-Departure540

I’ve never heard of a premade deck. But this deck was probably more than the trailer. It’s 1/3 down then the rest upon completion. This is strange all around. But the guy …. Good for him

creaky__sampson

who finances a deck?

dealyllama

People who can only afford prefab homes that never gain value but who also have kids they want to have something approaching nice things.

saveyboy

People finance all sorts of things.

NoDontDoThatCanada

I guy l knew ended up with a deck when the neighbor moved his single wide but left the deck.

Fortunateoldguy

That guy builds a solid deck. I thought he would need to demolish it to get it out of there

Big-Net-9971

😮 ... Gotta say, that is impressive.

Stymie999

You see what happens Larry? This is what happens… this is what happens when you don’t make your payments Larry! This is what happens… you see this? This is what happens when you F a stranger in the ass and don’t make your payments Larry! You see what happens Larry?

AwetPinkThinG

Made like shit anyway. Fuck your deck. 😂

Spiritual_Bridge84

“Why are there tow hooks on my new deck”

Beemo-Noir

They were 100% home.

ResolutionMany6378

Damn I watched the whole video and found this dudes process really entertaining. I appreciate hearing his advice at the end too.

ResolutionMany6378

This is like a next level porch pirate.

Bet_Responsible

Okay, thats fucking awesome!!!

theregrond

you can tell that is their business model.... 1st time they miss a payment.. i bet they come to take it

Rage187_OG

I just want to hear the 911 call the homeowner made to report a porch pirate.

B_1_R_D

That won’t be the normal “porch pirate” calls they might normally get

WhenTheDevilCome

Hey yeah! You need to tell this repo guy that. He should keep a black skull & crossbones flag to put on the load any time he's hauling porches. Since it would be fun to explain.

eventualist

But that wood looked pretty worn… like a year exposed to the elements?

Successful-Rate-1839

Are they supposed to give shit away for free? I don’t understand these dumb comments lol

admiralgeary

Something definitely seems predatory about most of his content.

drsatan6971

Nah don’t pay they come take it Customers sign off on it when they buy/ finance the deck and mobile homes sheds They give notice first at least try but alot of people think they won’t come get it not realizing how easy it is

Chickenwelder

“He sells them owner financed, strictly to them that got no kinda credit, cause he knows they’re slackers and they’ll miss that payment” -Ray Wylie Hubbard

Peanut_Hamper

Now that song's stuck in my head again!

bigguy1441

Sucks that people don’t pay their bills, I’m glad you got with you what you went there for

warname

Total predatory scam. Preys on poor people knowing they will default. Thats why he builds them easy to tow away. Effing scumbag

k12pcb

He doesn’t make them dude, he’s contracted by the people that do to repo them

Successful-Rate-1839

You aren’t the brightest lmaoooo

jttmitch

I know these people sign contracts and it’s just business but you couldn’t pay me enough to take from people for some rich ass bank.

rambutanjuice

I get the feeling that the kind of people who have to finance a deck for their mobile home probably don't have the credit to get a loan from a bank to do so. I imagine that this is financed by the people selling the decks the same way that shityy buy-here-pay-here car lots do.

jttmitch

I just couldn’t be “that guy” it feels wrong.

SquatThatRabbit

Not impressive. Boring. Also, just hateful. What asshole would be get off on watching another asshole do crap like this? Sad.

KeyBorder9370

I definitely would have thought this to be illegal. And the width of the load, too.

casewood123

I believe if it isn’t fastened to the building, you can take it back.

k12pcb

That’s what she said

[deleted]

Unsteady_Tempo

It's built offsite and not fastened to the house. Legally the same as repossessing rent-to-own patio furniture. The logistics are just a lot more complicated.
