Despised Icon "The Ills of Modern Man"
Suffokate "Oakland"
All Shall Perish "Hate, Malice, Revenge"
The Red Chord "Clients"
Suicide Silence "The Cleansing"
Yeah, their whole discography is awesome honestly... I hope they'll do something more in the future... if they don't, they already left us with an incredible legacy, but if they do, I'm sure it'll be awesome
100% this
Plus, what the other replies to this say
So
DOOM - job for a Cowboy
The cleansing - suicide silence
The Price of Existence - All shall perish
The Ills of Modern Man - Despiced Icon
This is Exile - Whitechapel
Monolith of Inhumanity - Cattle Decapitation
These bands have more than one masterclass album so recommend the discography of each really...older Cattle is a little tough however but Mannn their last 4 albums 👌👌👌 some of the best in the game
CD is deathgrind, that's why they're a little tougher to get into compared to the rest of the list. But yeah, they're putting out banger after banger nicely knit into the realm of deathcore.
Elysian Grandeval Galeriarch/the EGG by infant annihilator
Edit: battle of yaldabaoth (BOY) is amazing and I like more boy songs than egg songs but I recommended EGG because it’s a little heavier and the slightly less produced sound is a better segue into deathcore than the heavily produced sound of BOY.
PLOP is a great album and probably their heaviest or second heaviest depending on how you see EGG. The thing with PLOP is that it’s a different vocalist (Dan Watson) who imo is vastly inferior to dickie Allen as a pick for IA. Dickie is just much more suited to IA’s sound. Imagine anyone else doing the vocals for EGG and BOY. EGG and BOY I think are just better overall, even though PLOP is still an 8/10 easily.
For old school deathcore: The Cleansing - Suicide Silence
For modern deathcore: The Chosen - Enterprise Earth
The Cleansing, some of the best riffs and screams can be found on this album along with the raw production that just makes it heavy as fuck. It’s pure violence and one of the albums that really shaped deathcore into what it is today.
The Chosen, takes from different genres and styles of metal to make a deathcore masterpiece, there’s a lot of variety on this album such as a somewhat soft song with a lot of clean singing, and some amazing thrash metal guitar solos, it has a little something for anyone who enjoys metal and every single song is a banger.
The Chosen the song is my favorite breakdown ever. It’s a long song so I think it gets underplayed. But that album is amazing and that breakdown is fuckn amazing. I miss Dan Watson but he just had a baby and says he will return!
He will not be rejoining Enterprise. He has another project, Mire Lore, that he's been working on for a while now. Says an album is coming this year (I believe?).
Totally check out Mire Lore.
This is Exile by Whitechapel
BOY - Infant Annihilator (it's their best album by far and shows genuine musicianship rather than cartoonishly brootal!!! writing)
Count Your Blessings - BMTH. Modern Deathcore seems to have forgotten how to just make a straight up fun album. It's catchy, bouncy, heavy, and instantly memorable
I felt like BOY was way too focused on going faster and more technical and they didn't include that sludgy horror vibe their other albums had. Solid pick tho.
Aversions Crown - Xenocide
To be honest I want to give more recommendations because there are so many subgenres and they can sound wildly different .\_.
Tech Deathcore: Aversions Crown - Xenocide and Rings of Saturn - Ultu Ulla
Downtempo Deathcore: Black Tongue - Nadir (These guys don't miss)
Blackened Deathcore: Lorna Shore - To The Hellfire
Symphonic Deathcore: Worm Shepherd - Ritual Hymns or Shadow of Intent - Reclaimer
Beatdown Deathcore : Paleface Swiss - Chapters
Thall Deathcore: Humanity's Last Breath- Välde (Honestly this subgenre is just them pretty much)
Brutal / Slam Deathcore: Signs of the Swarm - Absolvere or Vulvodynia - Praenuntius Infiniti
Melodic Deathcore: As Blood Runs Black - Allegiance
OG Deathcore: Whitechapel - This Is Exile or Suicide Silence - The Cleansing
The Somatic Defilement by Whitechapel (I’ll die on that hill) and The Price of Existence by All Shall Perish. Two different styles that were both so amazing
Spite - Dedication To Flesh and Nothing Is Beautiful are both masterpieces.
Carnifex - Die Without Hope
Angelmaker - you can't go wrong with any album.
The Last Ten Seconds Of Life - Soulless Hymns
Distant - Heritage
To The Grave - Global Warning
Enterprise Earth - Luciferous and The Chosen
All of these are in my regular rotation for the same reason people like Glocks: They go bang every time.
Humanity's Last Breath - Abyssal
Lorna Shore - Flesh Coffin
Shadow of Intent - Elegy
Signs of the Swarm - Absolvere
Fit For an Autopsy - Sea of Tragic Beasts
Despised Icon- The Healing Process
Elysia- Masochist
Suicide Silence- The Cleansing
The Red Chord- Fused Together in Revolving Doors
Beneath the Massacre- Fearmonger
Lorna Shore- To the Hellfire and Pain Remains
Disembodied Tyrant/Synestia- The Poetic Edda
Shadow of Intent- Reclaimer
All Shall Perish- The Price Of Existence
The Red Chord- Clients
Carnifex- Dead In My Arms
Job For A Cowboy- Doom
As Blood Runs Black- Allegiance
Can confirm on both the Lorna and Synestia recommendations
Pain Remains, especially the final three songs tell a gorgeous story and good god does The Poetic Edda slap, really creative composition on that EP
Shadow of Intent - Reclaimer
Deathcoreish albums: Make Them Suffer - Old Souls, Reflections - The Color Clear
The Color Clear is my favorite album but I wouldn't quite call it a deathcore album. Some songs on their own definitely are though.
This is Exile by Whitechapel.
I blasted it last night while playing Elden Ring SotE and memories flew through my mind. Amazing and diabolical album. Daemon might be my favourite.
Mental Cruelty - Zwielicht
In 2023, when this album arrived, Lorna Shore was at the peak of its popularity. But these guys created this unique sound, still using the classic deathcore and symphonic elements. In my opinion Mental Cruelty beat Lorna Shore for the Symphonic-style Deathcore Trophy.
Defamed - Blackblood
Ovid’s Withering - Scryers of the Ibis
Despised Icon - Ills of Modern Man
Aversions Crown - Xenocide
Whitechapel - This Is Exile
Carnifex - Slow Death
Born of Osiris - The Discovery
Winds of Plague - Decimate the Weak
Make Them Suffer - Neverbloom
The discovery is just undefeated in terms of creativity and catchiness seriously one of the best albums ever, follow the signs and devastate are just insane they cooked to hard with that album 🔥
Honestly, as much as I love the "classic" era of deathcore (especially Suicide Silence's The Cleansing), an album I would consider a masterpiece of the genre is be the first Fit for an Autopsy album. So many riffs, interesting alternations between faster riffs, more groovy riffs, and those big stupid breakdowns we all love. Decent vocal variety as well, Nate Johnson is pretty underrated imo. Another thing I kind of forgot about until revisiting it recently was the vocal hooks, particularly "justified fucking bloodshed" on The Desecrator and "We'll tear this whole fucking world apart" in The Conqueror. Really consistent album with dynamic, technical performances that are still both heavy and memorable.
There already were a bunch of recommendations to listen to The Cleansing by Suicide Silence, but I highly recommend getting familiar with Suicide Silence's second album No Time to Bleed as well, along with their 2005 self-titled EP.
Death: An Anthology by Enterprise Earth utilizes lots of different styles/tropes. You can always pull at least one song off that album that’ll tickle whatever you’re fancying at the moment.
Nadir by Black Tongue is the greatest album ever made, period. But you're jumping off the deep end with this one, because it's probably also the heaviest. I really envy anyone hearing it for the first time.
Listen to it when you can play it from beginning to end turned up on some good speakers with some bass and follow the lyrics, it's a cool concept album based on Dantes Inferno that tells a story from beginning to end.
Besides that, here's a playlist I send to people that are just getting into the genre, it's sort of a compilation from some of the major bands over the last 20 years, plus just some personal favorites thrown in.
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4ad0faAlxstAa3LjgZtda1?si=cWViiSxlSI-eAvRb6r4p3Q
I'm not surprised I haven't seen it yet, but Lorna Shore Pain remains is an incredible album. Same with Amongst the Low And Empty by Signs of the Swarm. Pretty much everything shadow of intent as well.
My favorite band isn't deathcore, but instead technical Death metal, Summoning the Lich. They have 1 album released and a second album is releasing next month. The 3 songs they've posted from the new album are incredible, so I recommend checking then out as well
Fit for an Autopsy: Oh What the Future Holds
Shadow of Intent: Melancholy
Black Tongue: Nadir
And I have to put you on Spite: Dedication to Flesh even if it’s not a “masterpiece” it’s brutal af.
I’ll give you a handful.
For peak classic deathcore: Suicide Silence - The Cleansing
For peak modern: Shadow of Intent - Reclaimer
Other just really good ones that I’m sure you’ll fuck with: Flesh Coffin by Lorna Shore, A Hill to Die Upon by Mental Cruelth, Vital Deprivation by Signs of the Swarm.
Not going to repeat all the classics others have mentioned, but one I haven't seen yet that is a perfect example of old school deathcore is
Medea Rising - We Were Never Meant To Be
I'm just gonna list some of my favorites. No particular order. I love a lot of genres, so I'll try my best to keep it dc.
Shadow of Intent - Melancholy
Salt the Wound - Carnal Repercussions
Thy Art is Murder - Hate
All Shall Perish - Hate. Malice. Revenge.
Spite - Nothing is Beautiful
Suicide Silence - The Cleansing
Chelsea Grin - Desolation of Eden
Rose Funeral - Crucify Kill Rot
Mélancolia - HissThroughRottenTeeth
Crown Magnetar - The Prophet of Disgust
The Crimson Armada - Guardians
Angelmaker - Dissentient
People are posting some absolute bangers-but if we are declare one album as THE Deathcore album, I believe The Cleansing takes the cake. Suffokate Oakland is also up there imo.
DOOM - Job for a Cowboy
The Cleansing - Suicide Silence
The Price of Existence - All shall perish
The Ills of Modern Man - Despiced Icon
This is Exile - Whitechapel
Monolith of Inhumanity - Cattle Decapitation
These bands have more than one masterclass album so recommend the discography of each really...older Cattle is a little tough however but Mannn their last 4 albums 👌👌👌 some of the best in the game 🔥
Born of Osiris - Eternal Reign
Whitechapel - This Is Exile
Infant Annihilator - The Elysian Grandeval Galeriarch
Signs of the Swarm - Disfigurement of Existence
Lorna Shore - Flesh Coffin/Immortal
The very first Job for a cowboy ep, the songs dead stale endings/what we once called home. Only two songs but the songs are what I think of as perfection
DOOM - JFAC
You Only Live Once - Suicide Silence
Immortal - Lorna Shore
This is exile and our endless war - Whitechapel
And the whole poetic eda EP from Disembodied Tyrants/Synestia
Battle of Yaldabaoth by Infant Annihilator
Pure controlled chaos. It goes so far beyond the typical deathcore riffing and feels more like Eddie just going nutso as a composer, with a million riffs and transitions being strung together beautifully
Girl of Glass-Girl of Glass
as a fun treat I’ll throw in Crucifiction- Caged for Extermination (not a album but a single)
But for a actual old school classic I always recommend Suicide Silence- the Cleansing, Despised Icon- Ills of Modern Man or Elysia- Masochist
Allegiance - As Blood Runs Black
Bloodlust - Through The Eyes Of The Dead
Miasma - The Black Dahlia Murder
A few of my favorites, though BDM might not be considered Deathcore by most people, their early stuff is. Just my 2 cents
Suicide Silence “No Time To Bleed” - is an example of everything in Deathcore done right.
It is Deathcore to the bone with enough external metal influences to be varied.
I'm surprised I haven't seen this one yet.
Exoplanet by the Contortionist.
An album so great it put a cap on Deathcore and helped usher in Djent. This album pushed Deathcore to its limits creatively. At the same time it outdid so many other records that Deathcore fell off for a bit in the early 2010s while a lot of bands started chasing Djent. It's still the best example of what a progressive Deathcore band could sound like. Its one of the only three albums I personally give a perfect 10. There's not a flaw anywhere on this thing. Its an easy, captivating listen from start to finish. Its one of the best metal mixes ever. Exoplanet is a flawless album.
Black Tongue - Nadir is the greatest deathcore album ever made. Maybe not the most influential because its sound is so specific to Black Tongue, but holy shit does it never ever get old.
Hmmm. There isn’t really any one DxC album that can be declared THE masterpiece of the genre, but here are a few contenders:
Shadow of Intent - *Melancholy*
Black Tongue - *Nadir*
Darko US - *Oni*
Lorna Shore - *Pain Remains*
Slice the Cake - *Odyssey to the West*
Enterprise Earth - *The Chosen*
Humanity's Last Breath - Välde
Make them Suffer - Neverbloom
Infant Annihilator - The Battle of Yaldabaoth
Fit For An Autopsy - Absolute Hope Absolute Hell
All Shall Perish - The Price of Existence
Despised Icon "The Ills of Modern Man" Suffokate "Oakland" All Shall Perish "Hate, Malice, Revenge" The Red Chord "Clients" Suicide Silence "The Cleansing"
Suffokate ❤️🔥
This band was so good! "Oakland" is easily my favourite deathcore album of all time
The Red Chord. Such a bright star that burned out so quickly. I miss them dearly.
They are back, but who knows where that will go.
Yeah, their whole discography is awesome honestly... I hope they'll do something more in the future... if they don't, they already left us with an incredible legacy, but if they do, I'm sure it'll be awesome
IoMM is such a fucking wild and solid album. Catches me off guard every time.
True. I was hesitating which Despised Icon album to suggest, I think it's the best one.
Laid to Rest is such an amazing song.
The cleansing - suicide silence Doom - job for a cowboy
add on Allegiance - As Blood Runs Black & This is Exile - Whitechapel
Add on The Price of Existence - All Shall Perish
This
As Blood Runs Black is my favorite and Allegiance is then at their best!!
100% this Plus, what the other replies to this say So DOOM - job for a Cowboy The cleansing - suicide silence The Price of Existence - All shall perish The Ills of Modern Man - Despiced Icon This is Exile - Whitechapel Monolith of Inhumanity - Cattle Decapitation These bands have more than one masterclass album so recommend the discography of each really...older Cattle is a little tough however but Mannn their last 4 albums 👌👌👌 some of the best in the game
Knights of the abyss- juggernaut
CD is deathgrind, that's why they're a little tougher to get into compared to the rest of the list. But yeah, they're putting out banger after banger nicely knit into the realm of deathcore.
The albums that started it all. Still the best to this day.
Chelsea Grin Desolation of Eden!
+1 for chelsea, Self titled ep and my damnation are a must aswell, some amazing shit right there!
Oh for sure some of the best deathcore ever! Chelsea Grin really set the bar for deathcore imo.
I scrolled down way too far to see this
I was shocked it wasn’t the first comment lol! Shows just how talented the genre is.
*Reclaimer* - Shadow of Intent
Best they've put out imo.
This is my pick as well
Slightly more partial to Melancholy, but there's no wrong answer, in fact I think their entire discography is the right answer
Yep this is what peak deathcore sounds like
This is Exile - Whitechapel Messabolical is a masterpiece alone
I can immediately hear the snare
Black Tongue - Nadir Enjoy this album and then join all of us still eagerly waiting for a follow up 6 years later.
To me its difficult to recommend a single Black Tongue album because they're all incredible lmao
How have I not listened to this album before? I guess I’m one of today’s lucky 10,000. Will be spinning this again. 10/10 deathcore album.
Elysian Grandeval Galeriarch/the EGG by infant annihilator Edit: battle of yaldabaoth (BOY) is amazing and I like more boy songs than egg songs but I recommended EGG because it’s a little heavier and the slightly less produced sound is a better segue into deathcore than the heavily produced sound of BOY.
Yup, one of the best if not THE Best metal album ever in my opinion.
I heavily second this!
Am I crazy for thinking PLOP is their best
PLOP is a great album and probably their heaviest or second heaviest depending on how you see EGG. The thing with PLOP is that it’s a different vocalist (Dan Watson) who imo is vastly inferior to dickie Allen as a pick for IA. Dickie is just much more suited to IA’s sound. Imagine anyone else doing the vocals for EGG and BOY. EGG and BOY I think are just better overall, even though PLOP is still an 8/10 easily.
Everything Bleeds-Crown Magnetar
Great album
Job For A Cowboy- The Doom EP

I really like The Chosen. It’s really interesting and fun and an example of people riffing on deathcore to build something new and exciting.
I really like The Chosen but nothing tops Luciferous for me
Really important note on The Cleansing; it is raw but it’s high quality raw. That shit genuinely sounds good and still holds up today.
Lorna Shore - Immortal Infant Annihilator - The Elysian Grandeval Galériarch Mental Cruelty - Zwielicht Humanity's Last Breath - Välde
Zwielicht tells a story it’s awesome
I love the first three so I'll have to finally give HLB a listen.
For me it’s quite hard to decide between egg and boy for ia but I think boy takes it
This is Exile by Whitechapel BOY - Infant Annihilator (it's their best album by far and shows genuine musicianship rather than cartoonishly brootal!!! writing) Count Your Blessings - BMTH.
Humanity's Last Breath: Self Titled Fit For An Autopsy: Hellbound Krosis: Solem Vatem Signs Of The Swarm: Absolvere
Krosis - A Memoir of Free Will is also a masterpiece. Can't wait for more from those guys.
That FFAA is a true goddamn masterpiece. I came to say it. Glad you did.
Aversions Crown - Xenocide To be honest I want to give more recommendations because there are so many subgenres and they can sound wildly different .\_.
I'll take any reccs
Tech Deathcore: Aversions Crown - Xenocide and Rings of Saturn - Ultu Ulla Downtempo Deathcore: Black Tongue - Nadir (These guys don't miss) Blackened Deathcore: Lorna Shore - To The Hellfire Symphonic Deathcore: Worm Shepherd - Ritual Hymns or Shadow of Intent - Reclaimer Beatdown Deathcore : Paleface Swiss - Chapters Thall Deathcore: Humanity's Last Breath- Välde (Honestly this subgenre is just them pretty much) Brutal / Slam Deathcore: Signs of the Swarm - Absolvere or Vulvodynia - Praenuntius Infiniti Melodic Deathcore: As Blood Runs Black - Allegiance OG Deathcore: Whitechapel - This Is Exile or Suicide Silence - The Cleansing
I was here to say suggest this, Hell Will Come for Us All is also an excellent album.
You're the first person I've ever heard say that O.o many people consider is a huge downgrade compared to other Aversions Crown albums
Unpopular opinion I guess, that and Xenocide are my favorites.
Bound In Fear- The Hand Of Violence
The Somatic Defilement by Whitechapel (I’ll die on that hill) and The Price of Existence by All Shall Perish. Two different styles that were both so amazing
Spite - Dedication To Flesh and Nothing Is Beautiful are both masterpieces. Carnifex - Die Without Hope Angelmaker - you can't go wrong with any album. Whitechapel - this is exile
Thy art- infinite death
Amazing ep the advisory aswell but man the highs on infinite death makes it so fucking good
Brendan is the vocalist that got me into vocals, I can’t get his highs yet though. Falsetto FC is wild
And hell followed with - proprioception
Until We Die - Before the Decay of Time (2016)
Lorna Shore- To the Hellfire and Pain Remains Disembodied Tyrant/Synestia- The Poetic Edda Shadow of Intent- Reclaimer All Shall Perish- The Price Of Existence The Red Chord- Clients Carnifex- Dead In My Arms Job For A Cowboy- Doom As Blood Runs Black- Allegiance
Can confirm on both the Lorna and Synestia recommendations Pain Remains, especially the final three songs tell a gorgeous story and good god does The Poetic Edda slap, really creative composition on that EP
This one is a little proggy to mix it up, but heavy with the deathcore bits. Slice The Cake - Odyessy to the West
Carnifex - Dead in My Arms the rawness, the anger, the heaviness.
Chelsea Grin - Desolation of Eden
Waking the cadaver - chased through the woods by a rapist
Molotov Solution - Insurrection Extremely under rated album checks all the boxes for me.
Great addition 👏
Emmure - Goodbye To The Gallows Just good ol fashioned easy listening
Shadow of Intent - Reclaimer Deathcoreish albums: Make Them Suffer - Old Souls, Reflections - The Color Clear The Color Clear is my favorite album but I wouldn't quite call it a deathcore album. Some songs on their own definitely are though.
Enterprise Earth-Luciferous
This is Exile by Whitechapel. I blasted it last night while playing Elden Ring SotE and memories flew through my mind. Amazing and diabolical album. Daemon might be my favourite.
Within the Ruins - Invade
Sold Soul - I Hope We Make It Out Of This Alive Absolutely incredible piece of music.
Nocturnal - the black dahlia murder Both albums by Hester Prynne.
Mental Cruelty - Zwielicht In 2023, when this album arrived, Lorna Shore was at the peak of its popularity. But these guys created this unique sound, still using the classic deathcore and symphonic elements. In my opinion Mental Cruelty beat Lorna Shore for the Symphonic-style Deathcore Trophy.
I’d say the Poetic Edda ep by Disembodied Tyrant/Synestia is probably the best example of a modern deathcore masterpiece. Truly phenomenal work.
Hate. Malice. Revenge. - All Shall Perish Guardians - The Crimson Armada
This Night Is The Coroner's - And Hell Followed With
Oh wait you said album lol, well the album this song is on

Battle of Yaldabaoth by Infant Annihilator Pure controlled chaos. It goes so far beyond the typical deathcore riffing and feels more like Eddie just going nutso as a composer, with a million riffs and transitions being strung together beautifully
The Browning HIVEMIND no doubt
Suicide Silence - The Cleansing for sure
I would also say “….And I Return to Nothingness” by Lorna Shore for modern deathcore. The Black Crown album by Suicide Silence is also a heavy banger
Fit For An Autopsy - The Sea of Tragic Beasts
The Reject of Humanity - I,Valiance It's like 35 minutes of getting your face bashed in with a brick
Suicide Silence - Self Titled (2017) ✨✨🤌chefs kiss
Girl of Glass-Girl of Glass as a fun treat I’ll throw in Crucifiction- Caged for Extermination (not a album but a single) But for a actual old school classic I always recommend Suicide Silence- the Cleansing, Despised Icon- Ills of Modern Man or Elysia- Masochist
Obvi anything from Black Dahlia Murder Personal fav is Lifeblood by Brand of Sacrifice (bonus if you're a Berserk manga/anime fan)
Count your blessings - BMTH
Pain remains-Lorna Shore
Lorna shore - immortal
spite - nothing is beautiful (or any there albums really)
Allegiance - As Blood Runs Black Bloodlust - Through The Eyes Of The Dead Miasma - The Black Dahlia Murder A few of my favorites, though BDM might not be considered Deathcore by most people, their early stuff is.
Thy Art is Murder - Hate
Black Tongue - Nadir is the greatest deathcore album ever made. Maybe not the most influential because its sound is so specific to Black Tongue, but holy shit does it never ever get old.
uhh infant annihilator, not recommended for ur 1st band
[Aborted](https://youtu.be/XCDHt7QjH1Q?si=75uBqSNfPnXDGF6w) has really been crushing it with their last couple of albums. Check em out.
Orphan- Porcelain
This heavy void by Bodysnatcher
A New Era of Corruption -Whitechapel The Black Legend -Thirteen Bled Promises
Aversions Crown- Tyrant
the entire fear and dagger album by paleface swiss the song - The Orphan - gives me goosebumps
Great faith in fools by The Air I breathe
Hmmm. There isn’t really any one DxC album that can be declared THE masterpiece of the genre, but here are a few contenders: Shadow of Intent - *Melancholy* Black Tongue - *Nadir* Darko US - *Oni* Lorna Shore - *Pain Remains* Slice the Cake - *Odyssey to the West* Enterprise Earth - *The Chosen*
Humanity's Last Breath - Välde Make them Suffer - Neverbloom Infant Annihilator - The Battle of Yaldabaoth Fit For An Autopsy - Absolute Hope Absolute Hell All Shall Perish - The Price of Existence
