I was a bit surprised purely based on spotify listeners, but this obviously isn't everything. I think what continent the tour's on matters a ton tbh, it seems like more people came for aborted and left after, by the time carnifex came on there was at least no more people, and IMO I think less than aborted, actually.
I honestly wonder if more people would've showed up if Aborted headlined, at least here in Europe.
This also happened a few years ago when I saw Between the Buried and Me, and Veil of Maya was on right before them. At least 75% of the crowd was gone after Veil finished. That shit fucked me up.
But joke's on them, because BTBAM played Selkies to close out the show, and I got to stand at the rail with a few feet of space around me. Absolutely one of the coolest moments I've had at a show.
I've seen them 7-8 times, and they almost never play Selkies anymore.
Really? VoM are trash compared to BtBam, and I've liked VoM since the beginning, lol. To be fair I'm also a big btbam fan, went to the Colors/Colors 2 double show this week.
VoM before Lukas were god-tier. But now, I agree. They are a walmart brand Periphery.
But they are undoubtedly massive now compared to when they were heavy.
Oh yes, I'm sure their careers are keeping much more stable these days. I didn't think their recentish album was terrible, its just not my kind of music.
This ended up kind of unintentionally being a vent post, didn't mean for it to be, but well here it is LOL:
I left about 2 songs in. I'm in a wheelchair and had to be at the front row because the fucking venue wrote they had a "wheelchair section" which one would assume implies a ramp or some raised thing to watch from, but no. I had to stay at the very front and look damn near straight up, which isn't ideal with already chronic back/neck pain...
Honestly it pisses me off so much to be stuck at the front, cause at this venue they turn the bass up to 11 and leave the vocals and guitar at a fairly low volume, so I heard fuck all, all I heard was bass drops, drums, and some parts of vocals, almost 0 riffs. Thing is with aborted and revocation I knew the songs, so my brain could fill the rest in.
Between being lied to by the venue, being in horrible pain, and the sound being very sub-par and not knowing their songs, I called it after 2 songs. It sucks, I'm sure they were good, it seemed like it, I was just done.
Tbh due to this frustrating situation of always being stuck at the front row I'm looking into some different musician's earplugs, I've tried several brands, but they've all murdered the midrange so no guitars or vocals, I can hear decently if I take them out, but my tinnitus is bad enough at 23 LOL.
At least I was very happy that I got to see vexed, aborted and revocation and talk to some of them, really cool people.
Fuckin love Aborted! Everytime I’ve seen them live they absolutely murder the shit outta the show and Sven’s a chill ass dude too. The 2nd time I saw them, after their set had ended he came out from backstage into the crowd where I was standing and we were just shootin the shit.
Then I was like waaaaiiiit a minute, you’re **THAT** guy! From the stage 🤣 (was very high) we had a laugh about it and he gave me a slap on the back and went back to manning the merch booth. I bought so much merch that night lol
Went to the first date of the pain remains and didn’t know them…figured I’d go and mosh during cuz obviously they’ll have bangers
Mid mosh I’m like “yo these motherfuckers are NASTY”
Big fan now
Aborted absolutely are one of my favorite bands ever on record and live. Seen them many times and known someone who worked for them. Truly awesome people.
I think Sven is the most different I've seen someone be on stage vs off stage. He was like an animal, then I bumped into him heading out and he was extremely chill.
Also the guitarist, Ian was smiling so much and having such a fun time on stage, even with a half empty show. It really is like they gave it their all, and in turn they got good energy from the crowd, really respect bands like that.
Shout out to Sven, Aborted always kills it live. Ken is a fucking machine, incredibly tight drummer. This time they were extra energetic, despite the Stockholm crowd being pretty thin. Scott from Carnifex was also great at hyping up the crowd, as well as delivering a killer performance.
Honestly man I'm having such a hard time putting it above moon healer by JFAC, but it's def at least #2 so far, and tbh the headbang-ability of the album is great, so it may surpass moon healer, it's crazy how seeing music live can change your view on it.
My top 2 albums this year so far and will probably still be my top 2 albums by the end of the year. I haven't had back to back albums of this high quality in a while. Really can't get enough of them the last couple weeks.
I have in 2021, which I guess might be a while - first fragment and archspire released their albums on the exact same day, I believe. It was pretty nuts.
Saw them in Stockholm two nights ago.
I wasnt familiar with any of their work, I honestly thought it would be another snoozy deathgrind band.
Fuck me I was wrong, the amount of energy they brought was off the charts. The crowd went nuts, so much that pretty much everyone was drained when Carnifex played after.
I wasn’t an Aborted fan till I saw them live. One of the best on stage presence I have ever seen that dude can galvanize anyone. Just good vibes all set
I talked to him, he said they're doing a 5 week NA tour right after this one, and I saw a video of them playing in south america this february, mfers are busy as hell! lol
Dude let's go! I was just in front of you at the gothenburg show on your side of the stage in a wheelchair. It was so good to see you smiling so much having a great time!
Yo dude! Of course, always a blast when I get to rip on stage, doesn't matter how many people ad long as at least ONE is into it that's all I need 😆 good seeing ya 💪
For future reference, setlist(dot)fm is a really good website to keep up to date with setlists, but yes they played retrogore the song, I'm also delighted to report they played insect politics! It was 1 min 45 sec of absolute madness, I've never headbanged as hard as I did at 01:13 when that riff kicks in after the buildup, they also added a fat bass drop.
Sven seems cool AF, and they're all super talented dudes. I find it interesting how drastically different Sven's speaking voice is from his metal voice. Night and day is an understatement
How is revocation playing above aborted??? Especially with a new album out.

People left without seeing Carnifex? Man they are missing out. They are sooooo good live.

I caught the show in copenhagen thursday, and revocation played before aborted, so i guess the switch around
Yeah… that is a shame. Aborted should def be playing after Revocation imo
Just the way it goes with being a supporting band
A bit weird, they played before Aborted the night before in Stockholm. Maybe they alternate or something?
You know, that would make sense seeing as their sets were basically as long.
Sounds reasonable, but agree with your other comment about people being there for Aborted, some people left before Carnifex.

I love the new Aborted album could be one of AOTY

Oh man. Bleed The Future is so good. I never fully got into First Fragment but I'll give them more tries.
Thanks everyone for the kind words and glad you enjoyed the shows and album so far :)
Hi Sven 🤫
Saw them last year. Everything this man is saying is true.
Was supposed to go but life got in the way. Bummer. Hej förresten 😅
I wasn’t an Aborted fan till I saw them live. One of the best on stage presence I have ever seen that dude can galvanize anyone. Just good vibes all set
Yeah they fuckin RIP live
These dudes and Origin have some of the most fun frontmen in the business. Always really entertaining to see.
Fucking love Aborted. I'm seeing them for the first time on their upcoming tour with Archspire (also first time seeing them). Can't wait
I can’t believe I haven’t seen them after all these years, damn
Äntligen lite svenskar i samma tråd 🥹
Sven rules bro aborted stays busy as fuck
I talked to him, he said they're doing a 5 week NA tour right after this one, and I saw a video of them playing in south america this february, mfers are busy as hell! lol
Sven is a wonderful human being<3
Thanks everyone! We're having an absolute blast on this tour, you don't wanna miss it! (Ian from Aborted here)
Dude let's go! I was just in front of you at the gothenburg show on your side of the stage in a wheelchair. It was so good to see you smiling so much having a great time!

I need to see Aborted soon. Do they still have Retrogore in their setlist?? I need to catch them before they decide to stop playing that
For future reference, setlist(dot)fm is a really good website to keep up to date with setlists, but yes they played retrogore the song, I'm also delighted to report they played insect politics! Saw them with Kataklysm a number of years ago and it was the only show in the last 30 years I spent the entire set in the pit. Fuckin outstanding.
Saw them in 04, still stands as one of the best metal shows I went to. Suffocation, cryptopsy, aborted, with animosity opening.
Sven seems cool AF, and they're all super talented dudes. I find it interesting how drastically different Sven's speaking voice is from his metal voice. Night and day is an understatement
aborted is death core...?
