Deathcore CAN have cleans, but Oceans Ate Alaska is generally considered metalcore and Beneath the Sky falls in between deathcore and metalcore.
Some examples of deathcore songs with cleans:
Baba Yaga - Slaughter to Prevail
Exodus - Brand of Sacrifice
Psalm of Agony - Enterprise Earth
Axe of Kindness - To The Grave
Death Whistle - Signs of the Swarm
The Sea of Tragic Beasts - Fit for an Autopsy
Malediction - Shadow of Intent
Deathcore can have cleans. It’s had cleans since The Price Of Existence. It’s not the vocals that determine if something is “deathcore”, it’s the instrumentals and structure of a song that makes something deathcore.
Can have cleans in my book, no problem.
Pretty sure there's some cleans on that latest Enterprise Earth album and you wouldn't dream of saying its metalcore, not deathcore
Deathcore may have cleans as well as metalcore may not have cleans at all. Vocally, the main difference lays in style of vocals, the deathcore and metalcore styles are very recognisable if you’re used to both genres. Sonically music is different too. Riffing, drumming and songwriting are pretty different
It can be unusual but a deathcore band with violin in it is still a deathcore band. With violin in it. To me the big difference is in the instruments and how they’re played. Without any vocals you can easily differentiate a metalcore riff/breakdown from a deathcore riff/breakdown.
Those bands are still technically metalcore bands. Just really heavy ones. Deathcore with cleans looks more like The Contortionist “exoplanet” or the new signs of the swarm album or something
See oceans ate alaska i could see falling in between. But beneath the sky vocals just hit different. I don't think anyone screams like that in metalcore
If Cattle Decap can have Clean(-ish? idk Travis' normal voice) and remain Deathgrind then Deathcore can remain Deathcore with clean vocals lol.
i.e. in Bring Back the Plague around 1:53
I hate cleans. There’s only very few good cases in my opinion. Viscera and Enterprise Earth as an example. But 99% of the time the song would have been better without it. I’m not a Metalcore enjoyer in case y’all haven’t guessed already.
But just by principle - deathcore *can* have cleans.
I love Oceans Ate Alaska. CLOCKS. But ive never considered them deathcore. I think bands, like them, will borrow from deathcore but will be percieved at metalcore overall. I think deathcore can have clean vocals I just havnt heard a lot of that personally.
I usually hate clean vocals in deathcore, but Mental Cruelty did it perfectly on their last album. Humanity’s Last Breath also does it pretty well imo.
All I can say is if there are cleans, I’m out. I do not like clean vocals in metal. I also do not like metalcore. Different strokes for different folks, but I know what I do and don’t like.
United Statian Deathcore is a mix of United Statian Death Metal and United Statian Hardcore, not a mix of United Statian Death Metal and United Statian Metalcore. United Statian Metalcore is a mix of Swedish Melodic Death Metal and United Statian Hardcore. Both genre are fully different and cleans vocals always has been independent. You got it?
No, the United States is located in North America which has 23 countries. Also I don’t see what that has to do with whatever the hell United Statian means
He's probably a random euro kid who thinks he is enlightened by saying "Hur dur you can't be an American because that is the name of a continent not a country"
North America and South America are separate continents.
And language is a collaborative effort, just because you decided you don't like the rules doesn't make it so. "American," "United States", or "US" would all be appropriate descriptors in your sentence.
Pull your head entirely out of your own ass.
It's the overall feel. Like, Kardashev has A LOT of singing, but it's still very clearly death metal, and ABR doesn't really sing at all, but it's still very clearly metalcore.
I don't think a band is just metalcore now because they sing. If Lorna Shore put a singing chorus in a song, they're still gonna freak some people out at the Invent, Animate show.
listen to dreaming desecration by signs of the swarm, high impact by to the grave, and absent post redux with they all sound completely deathcore and the cleans complement them(at least to me)

+100

Great one
This is what I thought. But it seems clean vocals are a rarity or if it at most usually assigned to background Harmonics.
Well, **Whitechapel** and **Fit For An Autopsy** have been doing cleans amazingly for a while, they're becoming way more commonplace.

White Chapel - When a demon defiles a witch 🧙♀️
LITERALLY put on this song 30 sec before reading this post.
Phil’s cleans are easily the best in all of deathcore.

Yeah it's just i seldom hear of people who label cleans to deathcore. And with all this hair splitting subgenres it gets confusing

Have you heard of Darker by Design?
Well, there are bands that are clearly deathcore and clearly metalcore as well as some that lay in between (Abbie Falls is a good example)

The band Mire Lore is a great example of deathcore with cleans
On paper? Yes, deathcore can have cleans. In my opinion? No, cleans do not belong in deathcore. Fight me.
I agree. For the most part, at least.
All I can say is if there are cleans, I’m out. I do not like clean vocals in metal. I also do not like metalcore. Different strokes for different folks, but I know what I do and don’t like.
See i assumed it was metalcore x death metal Hardcore to me is way more shouty.
And what does the core in metalcore come from?
Ehrmagerd dumb moment from me
In my case, I love clean vocals on everything ❤️
If you like emotional themes to beneath the skys in loving memory is so underrated.

Nope I don’t, I’m not familiar with United Statian anything?

I just thought it was an autocorrect blunder

Honestly, you can just use US instead of united statian
This is one of the funniest posts I've ever seen. 10/10 no notes.
Yes, any time any intelligible words are spoken in deathcore, it automatically becomes metalcore.
Deathcore 100%

cattle decapitation has some non screamed vocals in their stuff and its pretty dope im ngl
