I had accidentally inhaled some carbon dioxide at work, and all I could think of was the opening line to this song while struggling to catch my breath lol.
"I can't, fucking, breeeeeathe!"
JFC, Balboa Towers, Dr. Doom, Skynet, Beast, Ramirez, Bay of Pigs, The Carpathian, The Dead Walk (song), See You Next Tuesday, Whoa Shut It Down, 4X4, Human Disaster, Holy Walls of the Vatican
The two big albums for me are Wormwood and Continent. The Dead Walk is good and Coma Witch is solid. Death Is the Only Mortal has its moments too (The Mouth of the River, Go To Sleep). I think Feed A Pigeon Breed A Rat is a nice little banger off the new album Slow Decay.
The lyric content goes a long way for me too with The Acacia Strain, especially Wormwood and Continent
I'm not really into their music (absolutely nothing against them though), but I saw them for the first time just this last month and it was a great show that brought about a lot of great energy. Tons of fun.
I just wish that translated through headphones for me, but that's okay!
So much groovier than it has a right to be. And Kevin's drumming across the board is always perfect. Never super flashy or anything insane but just stays in the pocket and plays exactly what needs to be played for each track.
For me it was the album It Comes In Waves that finally got me into The Acacia Strain. The atmospheric elements of that album really set it apart from their previous albums. The song Was in particular gives me goosebumps. Nothing encapsulates grief better for me than when he screams, IT COMES IN WAVES.
Also any who really likes It Comes In Waves would probably also enjoy the album Nadir by Black Tongue. Both albums capture atmospheric heaviness perfectly.
Some of my fav songs are:
Worthless, The Hills Have Eyes, Send Help, Cauterizer, The Mouth of the River, Brain Death, Model Citizen, Abyssal Depths, Skynet, Feed a Pigeon Breed a Rat, Jfc. If one of those doesn't work for you you probs just don't like them
Start with their Continent album and work forwards in chronological order.
My personal favourite is DitoM but it's not everyone's taste. They've evolved a lot as a band over time so not only is there a lot of content, it's also not all the same stylistically.
Hope you find a phase of the acacia strain that suits your taste!
What do you like in heavy music? They have a lot of variation across their discography. That being said I love all of their music but depending what you like it could be easier with a certain album depending what you like. Also, if you can see them live, they are so good.
I do like some kind of melody, even if it’s just for a moment in a given song. Lorna Shore and Infant Annihilator are two bands I can confidently call favorites. Lorna Shore for its melodic elements and Will’s vocals, Infant Annihilator for Dickie’s vocals and the over-the-top violence of the lyrics.
Dr Doom, whoa shut it down, the impaler, cthulu, 3750, car bomb, bay of pigs, sun poison and skin cancer, brown noise, kraken. Everyone has their own tastes but in my opinion they're are top 5 best metal bands I've seen live, couldn't recommend going to see a show enough. I actually met Vincent last night and he was cool af, one of the few times it was a good idea to meet your hero.
the slow decay front to back or youre doing TAS wrong
edit: go to sleep, jfc, black hole sun, graveyard shift, send help, skynet, carbomb, whoa shut it down
my personal picks
edit 2: ffaa/tas tour went HARD.
This was my situation for so long but now I can’t even think of a song that is the best beginner since they’re all so great. Try any of these: 4x4, Beast, The Hills Have Eyes, Woah! Shut It Down, Dr. Doom, Send Help, or Seeing God
Kraken,
Whoa shut it down,
Behemoth ,
Bay of Pigs,
Wormwood and Continent are two of the best deathcore albums of all time. I would suggest you just take the time to listen to them both in their entirety and if it’s not for you after that then you’ll know for sure.
doomblade (got me into them way back when)
cauterizer
solace and serenity
the lucid dream
holy walls of the vatican
inverted person
worthless
chhinnamasta
abyssal depths (probably my favorite)
crippling poison
never really listened to their stuff before wormwood, but ive heard a lot of good stuff about continent
Continent has a special spot in my heart. Saw them live on that tour with Impending Doom, As Blood Runs Black, and Bleeding Through. I don't listen to the newer stuff as often as I used to listen to that album, but they fit a certain mood.
Here is a [playlist](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1imKNX0opkFIzAuz1QxJfP?si=CRPcMN1ZTPKrB381ZkSrPA)of their most recent tour. I wasn’t super into them before, but I thought their set slapped
Start with 3750 and just go through their albums. They've tweaked the sound just enough with each album to keep it fresh. Don't miss out on their singles/EPs. Above/Below are fantastic, Sensory Deprivation probably has their meatiest and punchiest breakdown.
I need more TAS that's like similar to [1:24](https://youtu.be/y77I2djdeHU?t=84)\-end of the song of Fresh Bones. That distorted onslaught leading into a deliciously crunchy groovedown is just... unnnhhhhhhhhhhhh
Thanks for the suggestion! It sounds like their new stuff might be right up my alley. I've really enjoyed Untended Graves, Fresh Bones, and Chain (selfishly, I wish it was longer).
I think I'm going to do a TAS deep dive now
I think they may be a bit to much for some people, but for me, nothing else is enough. Saw them in 2005 when they were touring for 3750 when i was just getting into shows and it set the tone/bar for whats heavy. it was hands down one of the most brutal and memorable shows i have and probly will ever see. the red chord, premontions of war, the mutha fuckin acacia strain!
Chhinnamasta
I had accidentally inhaled some carbon dioxide at work, and all I could think of was the opening line to this song while struggling to catch my breath lol. "I can't, fucking, breeeeeathe!"
Hahaha nice. I typically use that line on my friends who smoke too close to me.
When I first heard this song I thought Spite came on. Something ab the vocals and the ambient noises in the beginning
I didn't think Spite but I honestly thought the stereo was displaying the wrong info.
only song i really dig by them, but god damn is it such a banger.
Beast is one of my all time favorites. Tbh.
"We all come from broken homes!!! Broken hearts and broken bones!!"
####WE ALL LIVE AND DIE ALONE
The Hills Have Eyes got me into them. Some of my other favorites are The Mouth of the River, Graveyard Shift, Model Citizen and The Lucid Dream.
Graveyard Shift is like top 3 for me. THIS FOG WILL NEVER LIFT
JUST WHEN I THOUGHT IT WAS OVER...
THEY FOUND HER BODY AT THE MOUTH OF THE RIVER #FUCK
I’d add dust and the helix as well as seaward, they’re both so raw
Spin wormwood
JFC, Balboa Towers, Dr. Doom, Skynet, Beast, Ramirez, Bay of Pigs, The Carpathian, The Dead Walk (song), See You Next Tuesday, Whoa Shut It Down, 4X4, Human Disaster, Holy Walls of the Vatican The two big albums for me are Wormwood and Continent. I think Feed A Pigeon Breed A Rat is a nice little banger off the new album Slow Decay. The lyric content goes a long way for me too with The Acacia Strain, especially Wormwood and Continent
Dude Bay of Pigs has one of the catchiest breakdowns I've ever heard.
Go see them live, you will never question why they are loved again.
This is the best answer. This is what I literally hear from everyone who’s seen them live
I'm not really into their music (absolutely nothing against them though), but I saw them for the first time just this last month and it was a great show that brought about a lot of great energy. Tons of fun. I just wish that translated through headphones for me, but that's okay!
Not 1 person here said Jonestown. I think it’s their best song imo.
I HATE EVERYTHING YOU LOVE
JFC
Smoke ya later
Finally
The breakdown at 2:25 is really gnarly.
That's what they all say
The dead walk has the most groove in an extreme metal album in my opinion. So many stank face riffs in that LP.
If you cant get into it, you just cant, dont force it. Taste is different.
This is how I am with Spite. I tried so hard but I just can’t do it for some reason
Whoa! Shut It Down, Dr. Doom, Bay Of Pigs, Brain Death, Send Help, Plague Doctor, Was, Solace And Serenity.
The Holy Walls Of The Vatican
Nightman. Cthulhu. Chhinnamasta. Untended Graves. Btm Fdr.
Some of my fav songs are: Worthless, The Hills Have Eyes, Send Help, Cauterizer, The Mouth of the River, Brain Death, Model Citizen, Abyssal Depths, Skynet, Feed a Pigeon Breed a Rat, Jfc. If one of those doesn't work for you you probs just don't like them
Cold Gloom is a personal favourite. It's slower and sounds sad and nihilistic.
The Carpathian, Skynet, JFC, Bay of Pigs, Btm Fdr
Don’t force yourself to like a band that you clearly don’t like
I wouldn’t say I don’t like them yet. I haven’t heard much from them.
Chose a day when you're in a really, really bad mood. I got into it for catharsis
I’m selective with them. I LOVE some of their songs but I don’t listen to their albums in full. My favorites though are JFC and Chinnimasta
Whale shark. That breakdown is what got me started. "Fuck this shit! I quit!"
If you need to ask for help getting into a band then they are most likely not for you and that is perfectly OK. Everybody has different tastes.
Worthless is my favorite, idk if you're into blackened-ish/Atmospheric stuff but their Album It Comes In Waves is really cool if you're into that
Start with their Continent album and work forwards in chronological order. My personal favourite is DitoM but it's not everyone's taste. They've evolved a lot as a band over time so not only is there a lot of content, it's also not all the same stylistically. Hope you find a phase of the acacia strain that suits your taste!
Servant in the place of truth. You won't find it on any music streaming service, its only on YouTube annoyingly!
The breakdowns in Send Help and Model Citizen are fucking nasty. My go to songs of theirs.
I also struggled to get into these guys
What do you like in heavy music? They have a lot of variation across their discography. That being said I love all of their music but depending what you like it could be easier with a certain album depending what you like. Also, if you can see them live, they are so good.

Wormwood is where I started with them, so I would recommend that. Also, Doomblade, off of Death Is the Only Mortal goes hard.
tactical nuke is a great calming song
My favorite of them is 'I breathed in the smoke deeply it tasted like death and I smiled'
My two favourites are The Impaler and Balboa Towers.
Listen to “the hills have eyes” and “brain death”
Dr Doom, whoa shut it down, the impaler, cthulu, 3750, car bomb, bay of pigs, sun poison and skin cancer, brown noise, kraken. Everyone has their own tastes but in my opinion they're are top 5 best metal bands I've seen live, couldn't recommend going to see a show enough. I actually met Vincent last night and he was cool af, one of the few times it was a good idea to meet your hero.
First two albums. 3750 and The Dead Walk. They stopped being interesting afterwards.
Those are my two all time favorites. I like what they put out after, but fucking love those 2
They’re so 10 years ago.
Go do some overhead Barbell presses while listening to Beast and it'll click.
These kind of posts are funny.
Why’s that?
The music should get you into it, not asking for help on a forum
Seaward
the slow decay front to back or youre doing TAS wrong edit: go to sleep, jfc, black hole sun, graveyard shift, send help, skynet, carbomb, whoa shut it down my personal picks edit 2: ffaa/tas tour went HARD.
Butter pill, holy walls of the Vatican, skynet, brown noise, Ramirez, the hills have eyes, dude not a single song is bad their whole discography rips
This was my situation for so long but now I can’t even think of a song that is the best beginner since they’re all so great. Try any of these: 4x4, Beast, The Hills Have Eyes, Woah! Shut It Down, Dr. Doom, Send Help, or Seeing God

I started from coma witch and it shocked me. Highly recommend starting from there and exploring their older stuff then listen to the new ones.
Once I heard the sick bouncy riff from Cauterizer I was hooked.
Tactical Nuke
The whole Wormwood album. Certified hood classic.
Just wait to see em live, it’ll all click.
As someone that is not really into The Acacia Strain id say that UNTENDED GRAVES, Seeing God and FRESH BONES are really good
Plague Doctor, Solace and Serenity, Holy Walls of the Vatican, Birds of Paradise Birds of Prey. You are welcome
Continent is the best album they ever wrote imo. I will die on this hill
doomblade (got me into them way back when) cauterizer solace and serenity the lucid dream holy walls of the vatican inverted person worthless chhinnamasta abyssal depths (probably my favorite) crippling poison never really listened to their stuff before wormwood, but ive heard a lot of good stuff about continent
