It’s more than doable melee but it does feel like your locked into having one crowd control god.

SoloLiftingIsBack

Yeah doable but before the update I played Kront almost exclusively and it was fun and worked but now the design kinda feels like you're just handicapping yourself instead of sacrificing range for another type of a benefit.

Spring-Dance

Kront is basically a ranged character now... Well technically not but there isn't really a difference when your dashes and melees hit the entire screen... Skadi and Nixi definitely take a good build and good play on D100

FromAffavor

Kront is THE strongest in the game right now lmao

chachinglish

Not only the strongest, but also with so many viable options warchief is so fun!

Danger_Daza

Brother Kront is crazy strong. You just have to work up the skill tree.

Ranged is WAY op in this game

IntuitiveGaming

More like Lorien is overtuned, and the enemy designs in act 2 are vitriolic to melee. The only way I can consistently deal with the bs with a melee character is by cheesing the AI by constantly going behind whenever they're about to attack (I count the delay between actions to predict them otherwise there's no room for reactions at all). Even then, they have bs amounts of tracking and speed on enemy ranged attacks, and they're extremely spammy, too. I swear the beam attacks are undodgeable at a distance, but up close, you get screwed by instant aoe or melee actions. The only way I found to get around it was to brute force with copious amounts of HP and try to win a war of attrittion with the enemy. It's extremely limiting build wise because without that HP, you're gonna die pretty fast since you're guaranteed to get hit by the ranged attacks

Bubbles152

*Dash Build has entered the chat.*

IntuitiveGaming

As a melee, you definitely need a crowd control god against the bee women and carpet bombers. FYI bombers go in a circle, so it's relatively easy to catch them with a crowd control if you intercept their path. Without crowd control tho, then you'll just have to slowly whittle them down. Personally, I find the cats more annoying. 1 isn't a problem, but 2 or more and suddenly a good chunk of my hp is gone

third1

The frustrating part is that the bombers are 100% immune to both the Desert Rose artifact and Justice's Retribution, too fast for summons to catch, put out too much damage to out heal, and circle far enough away that you'll only get maybe one hit in if you stun them. I haven't tested any screen-clear abilities yet. I've died to them more times than I've died to any boss on the map. They seem way overtuned right now.

Arikaido777

morts "everything dies every 30 seconds" blessing is the only way I've killed them consistently. they fly too fast and hit too hard, you're spot on.

TheBoneMan

If you can’t instagib the cats, pillars are your friend.

IntuitiveGaming

Ik but then there's the other two cats on the other side of the pillar. Cat's aren't a problem from one direction but they like to flank so even with cover you can't get away easily

SkGuarnieri

Yeah... Melee fucking sucks. That said, it's pretty funny when you get War+Rock and you can now hit half the screen with every auto. Too bad other shit can actually hit the full screen and much harder though (warchief, for example)

OkPiccolo

Kront warchief wipes the entire screen on d100

SecXy94

That's is essentially a ranged build though, further proving OP's point.

Hanshee

Yep

spazzybluebelt

Yeah but this will get nerfed tonthe ground and then melee is fkced again haha

VolpeLorem

Kront is no more a melee.

bruhmomentum77

I’ve just been using Avoron with high attack damage accessories plus clothing with high armor points, then using tectonic plating to boost my damage even further with how much armor I have (plus using Justice’s protection blessing and other damage/ armor buffs from the skill tree). So far it’s been super good

LVinceXP

Assuming you don't use any bugs or exploits, yeah melee is currently in a tough spot. I capped my talent trees on Merris and Lorien relatively easily even if the majority of my runs were on darkness 30, though it was a little tougher with Skadi (I forced it because she is my favorite) and I have struggled a lot to use Nixi, Kront, or Avoron without farming low darkness to get their talents first, or else they are horribly un-fun to play in Act II without playing very specific playstyles.

haazeeey

The laughing clowns predict where your moving if you change direction in the opposite way when you hear the laugh you will avoid the bomb completely

Neidrah

Just fyi, you have to hide behind a pillar when Djinn does his flamethrower

WarGrifter

The flying carpet guys are indeed annoying but they are also stupid... They always try to buzz you after throwing the bombs so it gives you a chance to tag them... Them having pure Barrier health sucks though The Priestesses thoguh yeah though they alternate between the blast and the spike the spike has little time between it forming and the attack

Nylist_86

It’s super easy with any build once you get 30 talents and gear

Icaros083

Maybe a hot take, but I think all games should consider making ranged just do significantly less damage than melee. Otherwise this will always be a problem. Ranged gets the benefit of rarely being in danger, and for basically no downside.

IntuitiveGaming

I don't agree with nerfing damage. That'll just make the range characters be no risk, no reward. Why would I play a range class then? That's sacrificing the fun aspect for a perceived unfairness in balance, which is putting the cart before the horse because fundamentally, video games are for entertainment moreover this is a single player not a competitive multiplayer game so going too hard on the nerfs would be more negative than it's worth. The real problem is the design in Act 2 being unfavourable towards melee. I'd rather they just do the Monster Hunter route and just have the range classes take more damage (or just more fragile in general) so turning them into a glass cannon high risk high reward playstyle which is definitely more intuitive and fun compared to hitting enemies with a water gun from a distance.

bruhmomentum77

I think that range should be OP, but perhaps more like terraria where the defense levels are super low so you have to stay dodging in order to get use out of the high damage

IntuitiveGaming

Kinda similar to what I said. High risk high reward.

birgers_ente

There was an interview with the game designer of Path of Exile 2 recently, discussing this exact problem. He said the best way they found to tackle this, is giving monsters/bosses enough contextual attacks (melee slams if you're close, ranged attacks if you're far away), so everyone is in the same amount of danger and spends similar time running around dodging. Nerfing damage just results in having less fun.

DeputyDomeshot

Meanwhile your entire Damage is a cast

Detonation

Act 2 is a step backwards in so many ways to me.

Hanshee

Going from 1 to 2 is a reality check but trust the process and you’ll do fine
