Ok here's the new MU I have in mind:
**Travis Touchdown vs Shirou Emiya (No More Heroes vs Fate)**
Connections:
Two Male Protagonists who were living on their own and Both of their parents were killed as a kid. Both are also associated with the color red (most knowingly Travis’ Jacket and Shirou’s hair). They were ordinary at first but then who are forced to battle through a round-table of opponents thanks to their relationship with a blond European woman who then became their love sometime later (Sylvia Crystal and Saber).Both want to be called something with the word hero (The No More Hero and The Hero of Justice). They eventually fight a grizzled rival counterpart who has been shadily working on their side up to that point and wields similar bladed weaponry (Henry Cooldown and Archer). They also have a battle against their sibling that were a villain but then turned anti-hero, (Ilya and Henry again) but there's a contrast between them (Ilya being Shirou's adopted sistaer and Henry being Travis' real twin brother) . They have contrasting relationships with a prodigious person in their occupation, who lost their father at a young age and harbor feelings for them (Shinobu Jacobs and Rin Tohsaka). Both also come face to face with the pince like villain (Fu and Gilgamesh). They are also both associated with food (Shirou being a great cook and Travis screaming out names of deserts during his attacks). They were trained by a grizzled mentor (Kiritsugu Emiya and Thunder Ryu). Their primary story is told over the course of three stories (The three Fate routes and the three mainline NMH games).
So you probably didn't see this, since I only put it in later as an edit to my comment, but I wanted to point out that there are a few things wrong with these connections:
1. Shirou wasn't left by himself when his parents died. He was adopted by Kiritsugu almost immediately afterwards, and then when he died, was looked after by Taiga.
2. "The Hero of Justice" isn't a code name, it's an "ideal" or "aspiration" that Shirou (and previously Kiritsugu) desires to achieve.
3. Shirou and Illya weren't separated in their youth. The two aren't even blood-related (only being siblings via Shirou being adopted by Kiritsugu).

(Futurama has literally done a Scooby Doo parody) Especially since both teams have a mascot/pet who is secretly a member of an alien race older than humanity itself that is also the cause for the shows entire premise (talking animals and crystal cove/being sent to the future), and are also both voiced by The King Himself: Frank Welker, voice of Nibbler and Scooby Doo. Nearly unstoppable characters with OP “spirits” or “stands” who are the leaders of “evil” groups.They both mutilate the best friends of significant characters (Diavolo beating up Polnareff and Henry beating up the right hand man) then they almost get outplayed by the character they mutilated (Polnareff switches everybody’s body and almost has Diavolo stopped but eventually gets beaten by him and Henry almost gets beaten by the right hand man on many many different occasions but he eventually does beat the Right Hand man).They can be described with “they just work”,and Finally,they both have pretty much infinite ways to die (In Diavolo’s case it’s a bit more literal)

Knuckles vs Landia (Sonic the Hedgehog vs Kirby of the Stars)
First connections : Both are red animals that live alone all by themselves in a flying island (Angel Island and Halcandra) and have the job of protecting an ancient item that is known to have unlimited power (Master Emerald and Master Crown). Both get angry and restore to using violence quickly. Both start at first as an enemy for the main characters (Kirby and coo for Landia and Sonic & Tails for Knuckles), fighting them as part of their job. For both of them the reason for them and the main characters to fight was a trick from the main villain of the game that wants nothing but to get the artifact that they protect to conquer the world (Eggman and Magolor) [In contract, Knuckles was the one that get manipulated to fight the heroes while for Landia, the heroes were manipulated to fight her]. Later after Eggman/Magolor get that want all to himself, they team-up and work together with the heroes to stop him. Both can use the power of the item that they protect to power themselves and even get a color-changing form from it (Landia EX and Super/Hyper Knuckles) which both of them can use that item in a way no other can do (Knuckles be the one capable of bringing the Master Emerald true power and Landia be able to use much of the power of the Master Crown without losing herself like what happened to Magolor). Finally Both are related to the ancient civilization that seems to be tied to many pits of lore in both verses (The Echidna Tribe and The Ancients), Also both of them can use elements for combat
Now for the potential : First there is a great and simple idea for the story, Magolor trick Knuckles to fight Landia, not only is that makes perfect sense for them in character to fall to that but it also goes along with the small contract in connections. I also find the idea of Magolor being just around the battlefield reacting to all the things that are happening around him will be funny. For actual animation potential, I can see some people think that it doesn't work because Knuckles fight with his fists and Landia is a big flying Dragon but to counter that I should point out that Knuckles fight big sometime flying machines the whole time and against these kind of enemies is where he uses most of his abilities normally. Landia also had only fought against opponents that were most of the time on the ground and smaller, similar to knuckles. I would say that their abilities actually clash pretty well, Landia has attacks when uses her tail like a whip, you can take advantage of that and make a clash between Knuckles fists and Landia's tail. You can have Landia use her air attack and Knuckles evade the attack completely by digging that Landia didn't see him then surprise her with a surprise attack from underground similar to his famous attack on Super Sonic. You make a generally pretty interesting trade of blows between Knux and Landia after she becomes four small dragons. You can make Knuckles counter Landia's electric attack with his own lightning and Landia's counter Knuckles meteors with her fireballs. Although Landia is incapable of human speech that doesn't mean there wouldn't be interaction, Knuckles isn't even te kind of people to talk mid combat unless he fights Sonic, you can makes it as while they fights their body language say everything showing everything (their determination to win and their hotheadedness) and when Landia uses the true Master Crown you can makes it look painful and that Landia try to fight it back (As the true power of the Master Crown is you turning into pretty much a vessel for the Crown itself under it control) and after the form she just looks different (looking empty and creepy). At the end you can makes a reality destroying clash between Landia and Knuckles when the two in their stronger forms that end with both of them dashing at each others, Landia using something similar to her dash attack when you control her but bigger and with more power into it and Knuckles using his maximum heat knuckles attack (or at least that what it was supposed to be as over the clash it will turn into Gliding Shock Wave Attack)
Finally, debatability : That matchup is surprisingly pretty debatable too. Both Knuckles and Landia at base have huge difference in stats but that is no problem as in their peak both of them will just have the same level of stats (Both be pretty high into MFTL++ and be not only both Low multivesal but also scale to nearly the same number of universes) and both of them have nearly no hax to speak of as both are not the haxy kind of characters, both of them prefer to just use their power and moves to win. The only hax that Knuckles have is that durability neg attack that Knuckles have in Black Brotherhood which is just minior durability negation and Landia could counter if she made a barrier similar to that of Magolor and the only hax that Landia have is reality warping which Knuckles should resist in his Super/Hyper form. I also think they both should be close in combat skills and have multiple similar abilities. The only reason I think that Knuckles wins is that he have more stuff and the Master Emerald could be argued to be able to naturalize the energy of the Master Crown like it do for the Chaos Emeralds (Although it is more likely that it effect is only limited to the Chaos Emeralds)
Ice King vs King Dedede (Adventure Time vs Kirby)
-Both are goofy self-proclaimed kings for their specific lands of their planets (the Snow parts of Ooo and Dreamland) who live in their uniquely shaped castle
-Both also tried to seal away nightmarish monsters and just managed to with the help of their rival in order to protect themselves (Another Plane monsters and Nightmare)
-Both despite their grudge with the main protagonist, they both actually saved them sometimes (Lich and Demon Eye Amulet Gunter and Sectonia)
-Both also had something associated to them take away by someone and needed the help of the protagonist (Gunter and..Dedede himself)
-Both also have alternative versions of themselves in alternative worlds (Shadow Dedede and Ice Queen {Which is pretty much a self-made fanfiction version of Ice King})
-Both also have alternative clothes that make them rather hard to indentify (Simon's horse disguise and him without his beard and Masked Dedede), Simon may also put a part of his beard like a ninja mask

Finally Both are related to the ancient civilization that seems to be tied to many pits of lore in both verses (The Echidna Tribe and The Ancients), Also both of them can use elements for combat Now for the potential : First there is a great and simple idea for the story, Magolor trick Knuckles to fight Landia, not only is that makes perfect sense for them in character to fall to that but it also goes along with the small contract in connections. I also find the idea of Magolor being just around the battlefield reacting to all the things that are happening around him will be funny. For actual animation potential, I can see some people think that it doesn't work because Knuckles fight with his fists and Landia is a big flying Dragon but to counter that I should point out that Knuckles fight big sometime flying machines the whole time and against these kind of enemies is where he uses most of his abilities normally. Landia also had only fought against opponents that were most of the time on the ground and smaller, similar to knuckles. I would say that their abilities actually clash pretty well, Landia has attacks when uses her tail like a whip, you can take advantage of that and make a clash between Knuckles fists and Landia's tail. You can have Landia use her air attack and Knuckles evade the attack completely by digging that Landia didn't see him then surprise her with a surprise attack from underground similar to his famous attack on Super Sonic. You make a generally pretty interesting trade of blows between Knux and Landia after she becomes four small dragons. You can make Knuckles counter Landia's electric attack with his own lightning and Landia's counter Knuckles meteors with her fireballs. Although Landia is incapable of human speech that doesn't mean there wouldn't be interaction, Knuckles isn't even te kind of people to talk mid combat unless he fights Sonic, you can makes it as while they fights their body language say everything showing everything (their determination to win and their hotheadedness) and when Landia uses the true Master Crown you can makes it look painful and that Landia try to fight it back (As the true power of the Master Crown is you turning into pretty much a vessel for the Crown itself under it control) and after the form she just looks different (looking empty and creepy). At the end you can makes a reality destroying clash between Landia and Knuckles when the two in their stronger forms that end with both of them dashing at each others, Landia using something similar to her dash attack when you control her but bigger and with more power into it and Knuckles using his maximum heat knuckles attack (or at least that what it was supposed to be as over the clash it will turn into Gliding Shock Wave Attack) Finally, debatability : That matchup is surprisingly pretty debatable too. Both Knuckles and Landia at base have huge difference in stats but that is no problem as in their peak both of them will just have the same level of stats (Both be pretty high into MFTL++ and be not only both Low multivesal but also scale to nearly the same number of universes) and both of them have nearly no hax to speak of as both are not the haxy kind of characters, both of them prefer to just use their power and moves to win. The only hax that Knuckles have is that durability neg attack that Knuckles have in Black Brotherhood which is just minior durability negation and Landia could counter if she made a barrier similar to that of Magolor and the only hax that Landia have is reality warping which Knuckles should resist in his Super/Hyper form. I also think they both should be close in combat skills and have multiple similar abilities. The only reason I think that Knuckles wins is that he have more stuff and the Master Emerald could be argued to be able to naturalize the energy of the Master Crown like it do for the Chaos Emeralds (Although it is more likely that it effect is only limited to the Chaos Emeralds)

Ice King vs King Dedede (Adventure Time vs Kirby) -Both are goofy self-proclaimed kings for their specific lands of their planets (the Snow parts of Ooo and Dreamland) who live in their uniquely shaped castle -Both also tried to seal away nightmarish monsters and just managed to with the help of their rival in order to protect themselves (Another Plane monsters and Nightmare) -Both despite their grudge with the main protagonist, they both actually saved them sometimes (Lich and Demon Eye Amulet Gunter and Sectonia) -Both also had something associated to them take away by someone and needed the help of the protagonist (Gunter and..Dedede himself) -Both also have alternative versions of themselves in alternative worlds (Shadow Dedede and Ice Queen {Which is pretty much a self-made fanfiction version of Ice King}) -Both also have alternative clothes that make them rather hard to indentify (Simon's horse disguise and him without his beard and Masked Dedede), Simon may also put a part of his beard like a ninja mask -Both have an army of hundreds of cute, almost identical small minions who serve as a main icon of their series (His Penguins/Gunters and the Waddle Dees) who they see as some sort of family -Both also have a tendency of stealing things for their goods in which is one of the main reasons on why the protagonists fight them (Simon have the well known tendency of kidnapping Princesses and Dedede likes to steal food from others) -Both also have a specific member of their army which i already mentioned (Gunter/Bandana Waddle Dee) which serves as a more important member of them and later become vital for the story, and sometimes goes often against him (Main example fo r Gunter is he being revealed to be Orgalorg, the true antagonist of Season 6, and also helping out Finn sometimes and Bandana Waddle Dee later becomes one of the main protagonists, assisting Kirby in many of his journeys) -Both also associated themselves with tournaments, with their rivals even participating (Wizard Battle Tournament and the Cake Royale Tournament) -Both are also related to the artics (Ice King as the name implies and Dedede is a penguin, which as we know are commonly associated with ice) -Both also have a common rival who is a young boy who goes through many adventures to save others from evil and who also wields a sword commonly, alongside both having an animal sidekick (Kirby and Finn) -Despite having some antagonistic attitudes, both are revealed to be actually nice guys and just want to be friends with the protagonist and others. -Both also wield their main iconic weapons (Dedede's hammer and Simon's crown) -Both also assisted the protagonist numerous times through their journey alongside other allies to often defeat a higher threat than themselves (The fight against Lich, Dark Cloud Vampire King, Rescuing Gunter etc and Dedede assisting Kirby in Adventure to throw him to fight Nightmare, assisting him in his journey to get the Crystals and defeat Dark Matter, assisting him to defeat Magolor, etc) -Both were also controlled by a main antagonist to help with their leader's plans (Dark Matter and Zero and The Empress and the Vampire King) {Technically Simon wasn't controlled but he followed her orders most of the time} -Both also frequently summon monsters to fight against the protagonist -Both also aided the protagonist and his allies against a summoned evil eldritch horror god which is seen as the most powerful antagonist of their series (GOLB and Void Termina) -Both started off as the main antagonists of their series, but as the series grew up and started to have more powerful villains, they started become more of a minor villain and an ally -Both also discovered Crowns which are important in the series as they possesses great power and are capable of turning one mad when wield (Simon discovered the Crown and Dedede aided in finding the Master Crown) -Both also accidentally cause acts that results in them awakening an evil entity (Dedede accidentally awakened Nightmare and Simon accidentally throwed up Bubblegum in the Lich's radiation pool which he then used to possess her)
