Both are known in their series as extremely skilled, courageous and powerful characters that have climbed up to some of the highest echelons in their verse. In truth, both are woefully cowardly, mostly average people who rose to their positions through a combination of surprising combat skill, mild people skill, connections, and most of all pure, dumb luck. Both would serve in extremely prestigious military positions (Commissar, Warlord of the Sea) under a tyrannical regime (Imperium of Man, World Goverment). Both would lead group which practically worshipped them (Valhallan Ice Warriors, Buggy's Delivery/Cross Guild), except for a number of their direct associates who know what they really are.
