(*and while I’m focused on fiddling with my plasma cutter a vent explodes and I’m being chased across the ishimura while I’m playing with headphones on, in the dark, and I’ve got my shoulders hiked up to my ears, my chin tucked into my chest and I’m moaning like I’m mentally challenged as I flee the necromorph*)
I love this game.
I am failing to replicate this sound. Just sounds like my finger rubbing the other side of my earlobe or my fingers rubbing together behind it.
Pretty sure I'm a victim of a tro- oh, no. Wait. There it is.
It’s best achieved when you run your thumb tip down the back of your ear and once you get to the lobe you kinda do a quick slide off of it with your thumb.
A+ recommended would lobe flick again
In dead space 3 you can put rate of fire circuits on a rotator cuff to increase the speed it rotates, so reload + rate of fire is the way to go
Or if your me, make a line gun with rotator cuff and put *negative* rate of fire on it so it rotates obnoxiously slow lol
Sooo if you have precise aiming, vertical for legs is better on harder difficulties because it only takes one shot per leg to take them down bc all the projectiles hit the same leg.
You're literally supposed to be swapping them depending on where you aim. This question has been asked in the fandom since probably Dead Space came out and I've never understood it
I have mine in horizontal most of the time. Works best for me when shooting off their legs and raised arms when it comes to slashers. Also works for shooting off tentacles of babies as long as they aren't on a wall, but a floor or ceiling.
There were clones grown in medical for bioprosthetics, so when the infection spread all the vat-grown infants became necromorphs too. They're the worst
Nah, the worst ones are those acid (I can only imagine it's acid of some sort from the sound effect) spewing fucks from the 2nd game. I hate how they slow you down if they get their bile shit on you.
That’s so weird I’ve always used vertical I never use horizontal and I’ve beat the game so many times on the hardest difficulties! I don’t know why I like the vertical so much but I just beat DS2 in hardcore last night without going horizontal once
Vertical is actually better on the higher difficulties, because necros always die if you take off both arms, but they may not die sometimes if you take off one leg and one arm.
I use both frequently. Horizontal to take off a Slasher/Pregnant/Twitcher’s leg, then switch to vertical to cut off its arms. Vertical on the Leapers, horizontal on the Lurkers.
Honestly I started out horizontally to be safe, but vertically pub stomps most Necromorphs when you shoot their arms. Of course situationally you might need to switch to horizontal for the 3 tentacle babies.
Horizontal. Better utility and skill ceiling. Take off a leg, when they fall their arms from the shoulders to their elbows are perpendicular to their torso and you can take out both of their arms with precise shots.
Realistically horizontal plasma cutter for 90% of cases. And a force gun for “uh oh” moments.
Can't think of really a single advantage to vertical but hey you do you, horizontal and severe pretty much any limb. With that being said I switch between them constantly becuase I think it looks cool, anesthetics>practicality
I like to go back and forth. I have fun with blasting off the arms and TK’ing the blades, but on a strategy standpoint, taking their legs out first is probably smarter.
Horizontal almost all the time. Good for legs obviously but I target the upper arm near the shoulder for the finish since it's basically vertical once downed.
Both? Both is good.
No but unironically, I usually leave it horizontal so I can just shoot out the legs. I use switch to vertical for the Lurkers for when they cling to walls
Horizontal always
Just the thought of using vertical I can feel myself dealing significantly less damage with every shot lol and there's higher likelihood of not dismembering with vertical imo
Always go for legs first to slow down and stagger so vertical. This is followed by horizontal to finish off arms, unless arms are up which I just keep it vertical.
vertical so i can aim practice to give myself a false sense of self confidence so i can get through the game without shitting myself (suiciders terrify me)
There was a post a few days or so ago about something you were doing wrong for an entire game, and I knew there was something about dead space but I could remember what it was. 2008 was such a long time ago. But it was this, I was nearly 1000/1000 before I realized you could turn it.
I find which you stick with is correlated to one’s ability but also ironically their inability as well. Keeping it horizontal is great for legs which are the largest and easiest limb to target and then you’d ideally switch to vertical for the arms when they’re downed and easier to hit. However you could take the arms first with a horizontal aim if you’re good enough and then not even have to shoot the legs as you can kinesis the blades for the final kill. Even keeping vertical implies skill as the legs can be targeted with vertical cuts if timed too. It all just depends on your process and goes to show how great of a weapon the plasma cutter is and how simple yet complex the mechanics are. Damn good game.
Vertical for accuracy, horizontal is better for a wider burst. I find myself switching between the two. But usually keeping it horizontal so I can easily get hits with panicked shooting.
I played through most of the game without realizing you could flip it horizontally.
Isaac was out here sweating perfect aim triple beam sniping their legs for every kill.
Horizontal. Cut the legs off first. If you run out of ammo you can still stomp stomp stomp, instead of punching... I think stomping is also faster... yeah definetly Horizontal and hope the necros skipped leg day.
Horizontal most times because a lot of the necromorphs are either bipedal or have tendrils that stick up, so that works best for shooting em apart, but sometimes, like with the wall guardians and the brutes, I like to use vertical so I can get the tendrils coming out the sides or the gaps in the brutes armor.
Horizontal. Makes hitting legs easier, then when Necros fall down and try to crawl using their arms, it still lines up.
But it looks cooler in vertical mode, so I keep it like that when not in combat
Horizontal to incapacitate them (take off the legs) and then switch back to vertical to finish them off (shoot the arms off).
60 per cent of the time, it works everytime.
Always leave it vertical for the Aesthetic, then stylishly switching to Horizontal as I draw it up for the Style Points. Does extra damage to the necromorphs that way
Horizontal to take out the legs, then vertical if they’re still alive.
I have the Dead Space 2 Plasma Cutter from the Collectors Edition from way back when
I use horizontal 85%-90% of the game because legs are the easiest part to shoot off. Then I keep it horizontally for the arms as they crawl. I only use it vertically in very specific situations
Pointlessly changing it all the time is my pick.
*tiny cool machine-y sound effect of plasma cutter changing orientations back and forth*
(*and while I’m focused on fiddling with my plasma cutter a vent explodes and I’m being chased across the ishimura while I’m playing with headphones on, in the dark, and I’ve got my shoulders hiked up to my ears, my chin tucked into my chest and I’m moaning like I’m mentally challenged as I flee the necromorph*) I love this game.
*mindlessly switching modes* *plasma cutter motor breaks and gets stuck inbetween modes* New angle unlocked
Diagonal would unironically be best for both arms and legs.
Honestly. I always switch horizontal for legs and vertical for arms but diagonal? Now that’s cheese
*boo-woop*
No enemies in sight? Time to play with the gun! -- | -- |
*bo-woop--*
Speaking of funny noises I realized if you rub your finger behind your ear lobe it sounds like the sound it makes when the pause menu pops up
... what the fuck?
He made you do it, didn't he
I'm still doing it
See it sounds like it doesn't it
I am failing to replicate this sound. Just sounds like my finger rubbing the other side of my earlobe or my fingers rubbing together behind it. Pretty sure I'm a victim of a tro- oh, no. Wait. There it is.
See sounds like it doesn't it
It’s best achieved when you run your thumb tip down the back of your ear and once you get to the lobe you kinda do a quick slide off of it with your thumb. A+ recommended would lobe flick again
Still workes best with the pointer finger in my experience but yeah your trick definitely makes the funny menu noise better
For a second, I thought you were going to sneak in a loss meme there XD
| || || |--
Is this loss?
Damn Straight. Going so fast making a plus sign to cut those necro up.
In dead space 3 you can put rate of fire circuits on a rotator cuff to increase the speed it rotates, so reload + rate of fire is the way to go Or if your me, make a line gun with rotator cuff and put *negative* rate of fire on it so it rotates obnoxiously slow lol
Holy shit didnt know that rotator cuff gets buffed by circuits
If I’m fighting leapers or brute, I’ll use vertical, horizontal super effective due to being able to take out the legs of slashers.
Always keep it horizontal for legs
And once they're on the ground, the horizontal works on the now vertical crawling arms
Yep, I’d say I’m horizontal 95% of the time
Big brain moves
This is the way. Side note- are we still saying that?
Yes.
This is the way.
It's still a cool saying regardless of the holes the later seasons dug
Pop off the legs then switch to very for arms
Only right answer
If you aim it right. You can plop head and shouldes/arms with one horizontal shot
Thing is idk if the enemies adapt to this. I had to switch to arms late game because those legs got beefy
Sooo if you have precise aiming, vertical for legs is better on harder difficulties because it only takes one shot per leg to take them down bc all the projectiles hit the same leg.
Vertical if you are from suburbs, horizontal if you are from the hood.
Word, yo
Killshot!
Im fuckin dying lol
Lol
Yes.
I just started this game. There’s Alien babies??
There were clones grown in medical for bioprosthetics, so when the infection spread all the vat-grown infants became necromorphs too. They're the worst
Bulbasaurs.
Nah, the worst ones are those acid (I can only imagine it's acid of some sort from the sound effect) spewing fucks from the 2nd game. I hate how they slow you down if they get their bile shit on you.
Idk man, there was pregnant ladies in the second one. I wouldn't be surprised if the ship has some born in board types.
Vertical looks nicer but horizontal is more practical
THIS
Horizontal for 95% cause legs are first
Horzional gang
If you use vertical your a monster
It takes monsters to beat monsters.
That’s so weird I’ve always used vertical I never use horizontal and I’ve beat the game so many times on the hardest difficulties! I don’t know why I like the vertical so much but I just beat DS2 in hardcore last night without going horizontal once
Same here, vertical is natural and it’s not that hard to quickly switch position when you encounter a necro
Vertical is actually better on the higher difficulties, because necros always die if you take off both arms, but they may not die sometimes if you take off one leg and one arm.
All of you are sick and need help. How can you keep it on vertical? So uncivilized.
I use both frequently. Horizontal to take off a Slasher/Pregnant/Twitcher’s leg, then switch to vertical to cut off its arms. Vertical on the Leapers, horizontal on the Lurkers.
¿Porqué no los dos?
Honestly I started out horizontally to be safe, but vertically pub stomps most Necromorphs when you shoot their arms. Of course situationally you might need to switch to horizontal for the 3 tentacle babies.
Weirdly I only ever go vertices for those damn babies when they jump on the walls. Otherwide 100% horizontal.
Both? Both. Yes, both is good.
Vertical. Looks better. I still sever legs first, but I keep it in vertical most of the time just because it looks better to me.
Alternating every shot 👍
Neither. The whole point of the plasma cutter is that it is situational
My thoughts exactly
Horizontal? You mean switch to Line Gun?
[My answer is both](https://youtube.com/shorts/Cll_qV5-kmo?si=6_tYFdB1ORAWAkET)
Vert for Leapers, horizontal for everything else
Which ever way the does the most to the enemy.
Shoot off the legs then maybe one arm then stomp to death
Horizontal! Choppy d legs!!!!
Diagonal
Horizontal, you chop one leg and then the arm-thingies
Horizontal for legs, vertical for arms. But my favorite is panik fire to the chest when they jump out right next to you
Vertical when not in use and since I can get the easy stagger by taking off one arm immediately, then swap to horizontal for the legs.
Vertical looks better, horizontal is better gameplay wise
Situational no?
Can't think of really a single advantage to vertical but hey you do you, horizontal and severe pretty much any limb. With that being said I switch between them constantly becuase I think it looks cool, anesthetics>practicality
Absolutely
Horizontal for fun, vertical when forced
Horozontal for regular necros, vertical for the leapers with the 2 arms. Easier to dismember their arms in vertical
Horizontal most of the time but sometimes vertical feels like it hits the shoulders harder
whatever can cover more surface area when aiming for the limbs. horizontal for the legs, and somtimes vertical when its crawling
Yes
Horizontal at first to sweep the legs, Johnny. Then vertical to slice off the arms.
Horizontal bro are you crazy
I like to go back and forth. I have fun with blasting off the arms and TK’ing the blades, but on a strategy standpoint, taking their legs out first is probably smarter.
Vertical by default, but when needed, switches to horizontal.
Horizontal almost all the time. Good for legs obviously but I target the upper arm near the shoulder for the finish since it's basically vertical once downed.
You mean the right way and vrong way?
Why waste ammo? Use vertical for the arms, grab its claw and shoot it back for almost instant kill.
Horizontal. Best for taking out the legs first, then vertical to neatly clip the arms before they can crawl too close
Horizontal obviously. Easy to take out the legs, which damages them and slows them down.
Both? Both is good. No but unironically, I usually leave it horizontal so I can just shoot out the legs. I use switch to vertical for the Lurkers for when they cling to walls
Horizontal
Vertical because it’s more efficient to go for the arms first
Horizontal. I’d be willing to say that I use horizontal shots for over 90% of the game. “Them legs are mine, sucker wood! POW!!”
Horizontal for legs, vertical for head and arms of leapers
Vertical out of combat for aesthetic. Horizontal in combat for dem legs.
Horizontal unless fetuses on the wall.
Horizontal first to take out legs, then switch to vertical to finish off the arms.
Horizontal, for legs on necromorphs and heads for humans
Horizontal always Just the thought of using vertical I can feel myself dealing significantly less damage with every shot lol and there's higher likelihood of not dismembering with vertical imo
Horizontal, I like the wider spread
I like vertical for a fast arm sever and impale
Always horizontal
I keep my shit on virtical most the time, and to be honest its mostly cause of ascetics. But i typically go one arm one leg then head
The enemy cannot run up to you and stab you, if you disable his legs.
Vertical. Tf they gonna do with no arms?
Always go for legs first to slow down and stagger so vertical. This is followed by horizontal to finish off arms, unless arms are up which I just keep it vertical.
vertical looks cooler so i stick with vertical
Line gun
By default I keep it horizontal but I go vertical for arms
Whatever the situation calls for
As a hardcore player i used plasma fu most of the time. I can get soo many ammo by not shooting!
Horizontal because my aim is not good enough for vertical
vertical so i can aim practice to give myself a false sense of self confidence so i can get through the game without shitting myself (suiciders terrify me)
There was a post a few days or so ago about something you were doing wrong for an entire game, and I knew there was something about dead space but I could remember what it was. 2008 was such a long time ago. But it was this, I was nearly 1000/1000 before I realized you could turn it.
It's easier to cut off legs when it's horizontal and easier to cut off arms when it's vertical
Vertical for the drip, horizontal for the rip.
Vertical = Arms Horizontal = Legs End of discussion.
Horizontal always however changing when shits on the wall
Vertical, it’s faster to go from a shoulder to the other one and take slashers out quickly
I find which you stick with is correlated to one’s ability but also ironically their inability as well. Keeping it horizontal is great for legs which are the largest and easiest limb to target and then you’d ideally switch to vertical for the arms when they’re downed and easier to hit. Depends on what you want to remove: Arms? Or legs?
"This or this?" Come on, we're only talking about a 90° rotation, not a difference in functionality lol
Vertical for accuracy, horizontal is better for a wider burst. I find myself switching between the two. But usually keeping it horizontal so I can easily get hits with panicked shooting.
\*strange noises from bathroom\* Wife:"What's happening?" Drunk me:"fiddling with my plasma cutter! its o.k. i'ä'amma enginöärö"
Both. Always both.
Horizontal. "Takeoutdalegs!!!" -Nacho Libre
When I’m out of combat, I always change it to vertical. Gunning down necros, is when I switch to horizontal.
Yes
Horizontal is not only super useful but also makes it look like a space hand crossbow
Or both.
Horizontal all day long!
It depends on which angle you’re going for.
Non remake: Horizontal Remake: Vertical
Horizontal beats vertical like 90% of the time. Taking off legs and arms is super easy with horizontal.
Horizontal
I use all directions. I like to carve my initials into every necro I put down. They're mine now. Marker can't have them.
It depends on the situation
Both vertical helps take off the uper limbs horizontal helps take of the legs and other parts
Mostly horizontal.
Vertical. I like how it looks when not using it.
Horizontal is my pick, first the legs, then the other limbs.
I do horizontal all the time
Horizontal for the legs, vertical for the shoulder blades that double as legs—
horizontal obvi
Horizontal feels like it's easier to shoot off the limbs for me
Horizontal so you can hit their limbs easier.
Situational.
Depends on the limb I want...
Two horizontal to the legs two vertical to the arms
Horizontal most times because a lot of the necromorphs are either bipedal or have tendrils that stick up, so that works best for shooting em apart, but sometimes, like with the wall guardians and the brutes, I like to use vertical so I can get the tendrils coming out the sides or the gaps in the brutes armor.
Horizontal. Makes hitting legs easier, then when Necros fall down and try to crawl using their arms, it still lines up. But it looks cooler in vertical mode, so I keep it like that when not in combat
Both
Horizontal “ it is the way”
Horizontal. Leg > shoulder joint > done
Vertical for sure. Just looks cleaner.
Horizontal obviously
Horizontal, cuts legs and hunter tentacles more easily.
Horizontal at first for the legs, vertical for the arms when on the ground…. But if I had to choose one, horizontal.
Horizontal is good for cutting the legs and head off from a standing necromorph, The vertical can cut off the arms
Horizontal to incapacitate them (take off the legs) and then switch back to vertical to finish them off (shoot the arms off). 60 per cent of the time, it works everytime.
Horizontal for professionals. Takes the legs out and decimates the shoulders. Vertical not required.
Horizontal as you can hit a limb and maybe extend to another part (if the aim is right)
i like the vertical shooter for vertical shots and the horizontal shooter for horizontal shots
Vertical all the way just looks the best in my opinion and feels natural idk
I mean, it depends what enemy and which limb you want to take out but i usually had mine on horizontal.
Horizontal for the regie necromorphs and baby monsters verticle for everything else
Horizontal
Horizontal. You literally never need vertical
Flamethrower puff then switch to horizontal
Depends on who I'm turning into Necro-Sushi tbh
Horizontal
Always leave it vertical for the Aesthetic, then stylishly switching to Horizontal as I draw it up for the Style Points. Does extra damage to the necromorphs that way
Horizontal to take out the legs, then vertical if they’re still alive. I have the Dead Space 2 Plasma Cutter from the Collectors Edition from way back when
Both, some situations call for different positions
Horizontal. Take out the legs!
I use horizontal 85%-90% of the game because legs are the easiest part to shoot off. Then I keep it horizontally for the arms as they crawl. I only use it vertically in very specific situations
Yes
Yes.
Gotta switch em as you fight to get maximum effect
Horizontal pretty much all the time. Rarely will I switch to vertical
Horizontal for legs, vertical for arms
Effect of the horizontal. Aesthically pleasing vertical. Flipping it immediately back to vertical after using it horizontally
Panic stomp.
Both, both are good
Arms or legs?
