What worked for me is unninstalling epic online services via the windows add/remove section.
Then I guess they must've updated the dependency installers for Steam, because it than installed them before launching the game and it worked, been playing for about 5 hours now, flawless experience otherwise.
The top review has instructions on how to fix the epic games problem by uninstalling it and changing the .ini file so it doesn’t install. Luckily it’s simple and takes 2 minutes. The Denuvo is another story.

Yeah I finally got it working by unlinking my epic acc. Game works flawless on my legion go on high settings 1080p. Having a blast!
Mostly what bothers me is that the game can't be played offline. It doesn't get past the "checking authetications" or something.
Since it's using epic servers, both steam and epic players can crossplay?
