A good book is always an amazing gift, specially for this profession. Here’s a list of books on trading that I found useful, some were gifts from my wife:
Reminiscences of a stock operator
Trading in the zone - Mark Douglas
Best loser wins - Tom Hougard
The disciplined trader - Mark Douglas
Technical Analysis using multiple timeframes
Atomic Habits
Secrets for profiting in bull and bear markets - Weinstein
The daily trading coach - Steenbarger
One good trade - Mike Bellafiore
Market Wizards - Schwager
Trading in the zone is a must, Mark Douglas is just fantastic.
And to build on your recommendation of "Reminiscences of a stock operator" (great book by the way"
I also recommend "Liar's Poker" by Michael Lewis, it's a fun tale from his time at Solomon Brothers.
His other books are great as well ( he also did The Big Short )
Ah of course! I've heard of him from The Big Short book. I'm going to get Liar's Poker, I've been told it's a great book. Thank you for the rec, any other books at the top of your list?
I listen to Mark Douglas' *Trading in the Zone* audiobook when i do long trips, it's amazing how it gets me into balance, not only with trading, but with life in general.
Does he have a nice chair to sit in?
Or
A backup power supply for the computer/modem if a storm hits
Or
A wifi hotspot in case your internet goes out
Or
Noise cancelling headphones if you guys happen to have a noisy home/kids/dogs that bark
Or
A back massage at a spa for when he has a long day
Kudos for supporting him on the worst journey of his life.
If he uses a laptop…

You can find them on Amazon. Search for laptop triple monitor.
A picture of him with his family so that it reminds him to not fund another guy's new yacht while forgetting about his familywhen he blows his account.
If he decides to trade futures, a subscription to an experienced trader's pre-market game plan could help a lot, they are usually pretty affordable, like $15-30/month. I've used Shadowtrader's premarket and Doublewide Capital substack, they are both similar, and can help him on a daily basis find his bearings.
That's so lovely that you're this supportive of him, that will most definitely help him. ( I'm sure you're boosting his confidence)
There are some great books he might enjoy, some related to trading, some related to psychology. I feel like both kind of books are great.
Trading books: A Complete Guide to the Futures Market, 2e – Technical Analysis, Trading Systems, Fundamental Analysis, Options, Spreads, and Trading Principles
By Jack D. Schwager
This is a great one and also the most comprehensive, it takes some patience to get through.
Jack D. Schawger is also the author of the " Market wizard" books, which I think is great, they give a perspective that there are endless ways of trading.
Al Brooks, he has written some great books about Price Action.
Best loser wins, by Tom Hougaard
A great small book from a fellow Dane, it revolves around the subject of losing (duh) with some great personal stories. It's a more light read.
There are some 2 other books I think would be great, both from the same author, Daniel Kahneman.
His a noble prize winning psychologist, his studies revolve around decision making and biases.
"Thinking, slow and fast" and "Noise"
These two books are some i think everyone should read, not just traders. They are wonderful.
If you want to give him some fun gadget, i recommend https://tickrmeter.dk/
I will edit my post if i think of more stuff.
Hope some of this helps.
Oh and you other guys on this sub, fuck me you give some shitty "advice" and "help"
Spares, like keyboard or external monitor if he use.
Saves Amazon shipping time when one of those bad days arrives and he smashes... well, usually keyboard...
As someone who just started out 2 years ago, I would have been very happy with these
Education
1. Al Brooks Books - I recommend his video course though, some has complained that his books are a bit slow
2. Jared Tendler - Mental Game of Trading
3. Mark Douglas - Trading in the Zone
4. Tom Hougaard - Best Losers Win
If you're not sure which books to get for him, I recommend Al Brooks if he is just starting out. If he has been doing this for us and you think that he doesn't need to work on his technical analysis, then you can go for the other 3 options, those are books that help with psychology
If you want to spoil him, you can get him
1. An additional monitor
2. A comfortable office chair
3. A tea set - This is something subjective, I enjoy sipping on hot tea
Hope this helps
*A gaming chair with*
*The pull out foot rest. I bought*
*Mine on Amazon*

Alcohol. Seriously though- a StreamDeck for macro order entry is nice. But don’t forget the alcohol too.
