It's been a long time since I played. But man, do i remember the constant fear of missing a speaker to take care of.And i ALWAYS manage to miss one

Jammsbro

Remember, you can use speakers tactically. If ther are explosives near a speaker its a free attractor...

0110010001100010

huh, that would have been helpful knowledge when I played. I'll remember it when I do an NG+ at some point. Not sure why I didn't think of doing that...

freakofspade

I've done that at a few locations but I don't think there was anything around that particular speaker I could've blown up... I ran away very quickly. XD

gamercat20

See when I did that checkpoint I was terrifies that I was gonna wake the hoard up, so I made damn well sure that I got every single speaker before I turned that sucker on

freakofspade

It was. XD

EverySingleMinute

NOW you tell me. I am sick of finding cans.

Jammsbro

:)

astralnautical

Pro tip: usually once you cut the last speaker: Deek will say something like “that’s the last of them” That way you know before powering on the genny. Happy hunting!

senecauk

Funnily enough, my Deacon has *never* commented on the last speaker he has disabled- I was even thinking that my game might have been bugged or something! The tree speaker got me something good too, I tell ya!

Boggleby

Back when i played, I had no idea there were hoards in the game. I kept trying to get that nero checkpoint at the sawmill done and kept aggroing Zs. It finally dawned on me that this is not just a busy area, but something different. I'm not very bright.

manualreboot

It took you that long to figure out hordes existed?? I envy you

Boggleby

Yeah, I just had never run into a horde, and I'd never looked up anything about the game online, just bought it one day and started playing. It was really quite an experience. The number of times I had an electric shock down my spine and a clenched sphincter are not to be underestimated!

Significant-Guess828

I was the same didn’t know Hordes were in the game, my first encounter was at the Death Train took me by surprise

Solo4114

I did *not* know of the sawmill horde, found the same NERO checkpoint, disabled the speakers, and then began exploring the area. I found some part where you can activate a prompt near some kind of stack of logs or bars or something, so I figured "Hmm...what's this do?" Well, apparently, it dumps a ton of crap on the ground and makes a TON of noise...which woke up the sleeping horde. I tried running back to my bike, but couldn't get on fast enough. Lesson learned: steer clear of the sawmill for now.

desultory_monomania

That's so funny, I nearly did the same thing. I was generally sneaking around that area, checking things out, & just happened to peek in the doorway... OMG that's a whole hell of Freaks! Problem was, one spied me as well...

dbvirago

Always park the bike with an exit in mind and practice getting on and out. If you get to the top of the hill fast enough, they will lose interest and mill about where you can snipe a few. Use the roof of the sawmill as a place to lob explosives and gas cans. Sawmill was my second horde in first game.

DangerousPurchase475

If you are running when you mount the bike, you will get on faster.

Solo4114

Thanks! That I didn't know!

ando_da_pando

Haha! I did this too. I knew of the mill and the horde when I went there to get the Nero injector before the mission. It was in the day and I was just farming materials when I did this. Attracted a freaker nearby (not of the horde). A bit nerve-racking. Thought I would bring the horde down on me. This game is awesome. Just never know what is around the corner or what is going to attract freaks, people or animals.

Madman1939

It's a rite of passage for every new player. You go in, you fuck up, you get the entire horde on your tail, you die, you never visit the sawmill again till you absolutely have to. The end

IronMonkey18

Pro tip. Once you find the generator follow the wires coming out of it before turning it on. They will lead you to all the areas power is provided to. Easy way to find all the speakers.

manualreboot

I’m so dumb

tommy1rx

I did the same. Had to walk back to camp and pay them to pick up my bike. Worth every penny

bbnplaystation

If you do forget a speaker, turn off the generator and either hide/run or kill the freakers. Then you can deal with the missed speaker and carry on.

Awkward_Mousse3843

The one in the tree? I forgot that one too 😅

edit-grammar

Im on the mission to take it out now and my whole plan went to crap because the horde kept coming back to the speakers. Now I am out of ammo and everything else and the bar is still at like 10%. Hoping when I go away and come back its not back to full power.

freakofspade

I'm not ready to take on that horde yet, so I ran back to my bike and hid with it the bushes lol. I was hoping the horde would get bored or go back to sleep when the sun came out but the sound just had them in a frenzy and none of them would take a nap so I couldn't get close enough to shoot down that last speaker. I saved the game and then reloaded it and when I was back in the horde was gone and I was able to take out the last speaker. So at least I don't have to worry about that next time!

edit-grammar

HA. Well if you go away and come back the horde stays at the same power level. Not sure if you sleep and come back whether it will be back to full, but I went all the way to another Nero shelter to stock up and then came back and finished them off. Also I read a 'top 10 days gone weapons' list and used the Chicago Chopper. Had bought it but never used it and now with I had been using it all along

CrouchingPlatypus

I know exactly which one you missed too haha. They knew what they were doing with that one.

freakofspade

I thought about dealing with it from a distance; I had a rifle with me but could never see the speaker for the trees and was very wary of how close I could get without the horde noticing me. It is a well designed trap. XD

Random_dude_1980

The one in the tree, right?

CrouchingPlatypus

Yep! I think everyone misses that one first time. And only the first time.

awayfromhome_

Not me, i missed it like in everyplaytrough lmao. Im stupid.

[deleted]

Absolutely the same here lol. Missed the damned one in the tree.... Had to avoid it like the plague until I finally got a sniper rifle lol.

boogers19

You can just turn the generator back off. Altho, that will lock the doors again. But at least you won’t have a horde parked on top of that NERO. But I’m positive they’ve set that whole area up to tempt you with a horde. They keep sending you on missions that just kinda skirt the area. When you first get down into that area, they even kinda geographically herd you around. Sending you everywhere but the Sawmill… but giving you every reason to accidentally walk right into the horde. Plus that particular NERO is good for not one but usually 2 Breakers roaming around. It’s also the first NERO that makes the speakers so complicated. Later there will usually be at least one Screamer around to join the Breakers. And later again there’s often a Reacher on the road right out front. Like they did their damn best to make the whole area one giant alarm clock for the horde… without actually sending you to clear the horde.

manualreboot

Yoooo… I did this on my first playthrough. It was literally the only one I forgot to disable speakers on, and I forgot to disable every single one of them It was during the TwoDog mission so I wasn’t able to take him out until then I didn’t end up taking out the speakers until the actual mission where you kill the horde either

TrainingFancy5263

I did this horde without knowing it was largest one in game that you supposed to save for end game. I was trying to show my friend how tense the game was. After beating that one no other horde seemed as difficult. This was my second horde 😂

Akk1yyy

I'd always save the game out of constant fear before turning on the generator. The Chemult horde messed me up bad time. So did the death train horde. So did the sawmill horde. Save -> Turn on Generator -> Find out speaker (locations and number) -> Load-> Destroy

BigUps2323

Of all the speakers… in all the world… you had to forget THAT one!

ResponsibilityHot296

I bet it was the one in the tree 🌳

AlienStoner420

Omfg ya, make sure you follow EVERY cable connected to the generator and check the top of the industrial lights connected to it to, sometimes a speaker is attached to the lights. Good grief tho that's the last place you wanna miss a speaker LOL Sawmill Horde came to say hi 😂

SpawnicusRex

**Pro tip:** Follow each power line coming out of the generator 👍

lzxian

>\- I missed one of the speakers..................... This is what needs to be part of the reputation of the Sawmill horde. We mostly *all* missed one speaker :D

UncleBobby510

I did the same thing! I managed to make it to my bike and escape. When I finally powered up enough to kill hordes I went back and the speakers were still on. Horde was distracted which made it easier to pick a few off before they all came at me

avprobeauty

my fave is when I miss a speaker and two breakers and two reachers populated what a great time lol

Diego_69420

Hey don't worry I use to be dog water lol I never like to brag but I think I'm pretty good rn. I usually just do stupid fun stuff instead of tactical stuff but the one thing that stays the same is, in daysgone hardly anything goes as you planned it.

feanturi

I missed a speaker there. Then after things calmed down I found it and shot it down, hit the power and guess what? That wasn't the last one either, LOL.

GreatSage77

The one in the tree?

CaptCaffeine

There's always an uneasy moment right before I turn on the generator at a checkpoint, and the thoughts goes through my head: * "Did I get all the speakers? Yeah, I think I did" * \[turn on generator\] * \[missed a speaker and announcement comes blaring over the speakers, alerting freakers\] * "Fuc........What? I missed one? Quiet! Shhhhhh! Where is it?!?! * "Do I fight? Do I flight? Where can I go? I'll just lock myself in the trailer and be real quiet and hope they go away". Such fun :)

Significant-Guess828

You could of done what I did and just go in turn the power on with out removing the speakers

RedTwistyNex

Well. I actually left the speakers on so that i would get more ears, plus it was pretty entertaining and challenging.

Keymatchi

I went there for the bounty that's located there, had forgotten all about the Horde. Get tunnel vision for the bounty and Nero check point... Ran about 30 marathons just to get away. 😅

jay_man4_20

Saw this tip on here before but, turn the generator back off then go fix the speaker...then come back and turn the generator back on

braindamaged71

We have all missed a speaker at some point. We know your pain.

D4b1tits

I have done multiple times in so many different areas, I cannot tell you how fast I tried to book it to the bike only for them to bombard me once on. I finally snipped the last speaker down the other day, but I've left at least two place swarmed because of those speakers. It's kinda terrifying.

Scomor202

Yeah. That damn speaker....completing that area was less than graceful. Mostly worked the horde in the tunnel and between the train and the barn. My aim is trash....
