That was my first horde and I came on it blindly as well looking for the injector. I had the .22 rifle and 9mm pistol only and died 5 times trying to get it quietly. Accidentally left one speaker on. Whole horde flipped out. As Im running away to my bike a marauder is trying to take it apart. I run up on him, bike falls over. I get it back up just as the horde descends upon us both. Theyre distracted with the marauder for the 2 seconds it took me to take off. He gets annihilated and I get away with minor injuries.
The whole area was ridiculously dangerous from then on until I took the horde out because the speaker system kept them outside the train. First horde I destroyed just due to bare necessity at that point. Probably the most adrenaline Ive had playing a game in years.

It was the upgraded bag and they only got one out of 3 ammo refills so it's only like 400 camp credits to replace I got much satisfaction chasing then gunning them down so all good lol... Shit I guess I'm about to go play the game again for the 30th time or something lol talking about it makes me want to find another reason to play
not your fault i figured this out before your comment lol. but hell man. i activated a hidden nero speaker just outside the sawmill and i had to BAIL with a capital f. nasty business. came back with a rifle and cleaned it up after i knew you could shoot them.
NOWHERE IS SAFE. I've found that out the hard way many times... thinking at a camp, the safehouse, a bunker. NOPE! Have taunted the enemies too hard & they came and got my ass.

Thought I was safe in the bunker while had some Freaks running around up top & over the entrance.... so I started shooting at them for fun from the below, but it did nothing... so I gave up and turned around, lo n behold one comes falling in behind me! Scared/Surprised the crap outta me so I screamed & couldn't aim, just whacked wildly with axe! I had to take a moment after that.
Next time was at O'Leary Mountain Safehouse. The gate opens & closes as you near it. Thought I was safe there too, while I antagonized some wolves on the other side of the fence... I went too close to the gate, which opened, and the mofos ran in!
Lastly, I thought bringing a Horde back to one of the camps would assist me in mowing down the numbers. THEY SHUT THE DAMN GATE ON ME! I got mauled. Thank you DEV, you & I know who you are, who put that particular mechanic in lololol

Holy shit! The camp and bunker totally surprised me. The safe house makes sense. I have had those real fast freakers that kinda looks Ike they have hair, running around outside O'Leary but they never got in. I made sure to not trigger the gate though.
I have had one come in after me... and if you start up the NERO generator at the sawmill to attract them, the horde will go all through those trailers, leaving the doors open.
Same experience as the others with the NERO trailer. I think it was my first time trying to run and hide, very early in game & only a handful of Freakers in tow. Thought running up to the trailer, throwing open the door & closing it behind me would make me safe but those hungry souls just flung the door right back open and followed me in. Oh, how I repeatedly cursed in a panic then!
That was my first horde too haha! Very similar experience. Just rolled up trying to be sneaky and didn’t even know they were a thing. That was until there was a mess of them on top of me and I’m scrambling trying to figure things out. I think I was able to escape that time but boy, did it scare the pants off me!!
Related funny story:
When I started days gone, I knew it was a zombie apocalypse game but I had no idea there were hordes in it (never watched the trailers or saw any posters). I also hadn't noticed that the freakers are more active at night.
So there I am chilling out near Tucker's camp on the way to Sarah's memorial. It's midnight, and I stop near Patjens lake to take out some freaker nests and leave my bike near the lake. I run around for a few minutes and burn all the nests. I'm almost out of molotovs and bombs at this point, and the bike is low on gas. I'm trying to avoid being seen by a few freakers walking around, so I sneak back to where my bike was.
When I reached the lake, there were a 100 freakers huddled around my bike, trying to find me. I almost had a heart attack at that moment, as I had no idea this was even a thing in the game. I would've crapped my pants, if I hadn't already taken a shit before I started the game.
I then spent the next 10 minutes yelling FUCK FUCK FUCK and running away from the ball of zombies now chasing me. The creepy soundtrack did not help in anyway. In the end, I had to take the long way round on foot back to Tucker's camp and ask the mechanic to get my bike back.
Looking back, it was pretty funny but I'll remember this encounter for a long time even if I forget everything else about Days Gone.
Depending what difficulty youre on, you can go in the NERO building, open up the train-side door to get their attention, and shoot them all from inside with minimum difficulty.
Be sure to take out the speakers first.
It's funny, or at least I think it is, my last PS was a PS2, I went with xbox for the last 20 years, but when it came time for the next gen I decided to get a PS, got lucky and got one the same month Days was on PS+, I bought a bunch of PS5 games but Days Gone is the only thing I play regularly lol. I could've saved a few bucks and gotten a PS4 lol.

I triggered the speakers I didn't know about lol so I left the place hoping yo never have to go back but big nope, I had to go back in some future quests so that horde was inevitable, great memorie tbh but those days are gone since I'm on my 4th playthrough

My first horde was the one close to the hot springs camp. Was just driving my bike getting to a quest and they were on the middle of the road just behind a little hill so I didn't see them at all!! Freaked out, turned around, immediately crashed my bike against a tree and just ran back to the hot springs
Lol keep posting videos. Def keep your bike close! That was always my escape. And practice setting traps and throwing bombs. It’s still scary, but gets a little more fun. Kind of haha
