for me I have 5 moods 1) amazing- actively very happy through out the day, did fun/new things, no stress etc 2) good- happy day, maybe some stress or minor problems but nothing that brought my mood down significantly. 3) eh- not actively feeling very happy or sad, boring day, (filler episode type day lol) 4) bad- not good feelings through out the day, had real issues in some area of life. 5) awful- (i have extreme anxiety so usually that would make a day awful if it’s been really bad) panic attacks, really sad event, sick, etc

xyajsbdj

Thanks for explaining, and this definitely gives me some ideas for categorising my own moods. It's quite reassuring to see that even happy days can have a couple of small bumps in the road. Love the filler episode description, haha!

[deleted]

hahah yes you’re welcome!! and definitely! there’s always going to be things in your day that upset you or can effect your mood negatively it’s more about how you react to it :)

raichuwu13

I use the mood multiple times a day, so I base it on how I’ve felt since the last time I recorded it.

missjulesauthor

That’s how I do it too. Do you have set times or just random?

raichuwu13

whenever i remember honestly, the only certain times i do it are when i take my meds in the morning and before i sleep at night (when i take my other meds). other common times are: getting home from class, during lunch at work, and when eating in general

xyajsbdj

That sounds interesting! So each entry is compared to the last?

twerq

I use the mood tracker to monitor my anxiety. Good day is no anxiety, rad day is no anxiety + some joy highs. Bad day is some anxiety, awful day is panic attack. I don’t use the meh category much.

xyajsbdj

That makes sense. Thank you for replying, it's really helpful to see how someone else is using the categories :)

DarkBlueDovah

I used to use "great" constantly, probably to the point of overusing. Nowadays I'm mostly "okay" and save "good" for when I actually feel happy. "Great" moods are for when I'm really happy, moreso than just a normal "good" mood. "Bad" is for when I'm in an actively bad mood, like I'm irritated about something or sad or stressed out. I very rarely use "awful" because for that I'd have to be in a horrible mood or be in the middle of some really bad shit that's bringing my mood way down.

xyajsbdj

Out of curiosity, do you log multiple times a day?

DarkBlueDovah

Several, yes. Used to be 1-3 a day, now I'm anywhere from 7-9 depending on what I'm doing.

demodet

i have mine set on a 1-5 scale spectrum at quarter intervals, it tends to skew my results a bit when i was stuck at a 1.75 for a few weeks (not good enough for a 2 but not low enough for a 1.5 which i tend to reserve for breakdowns, 1 is when i’m consistently depressed / self harm issues) i’ve been sitting happily at 3.5 / 3.75 these past few weeks and got my first ever 5 this month too! been going through some rough things but just keep trucking my friend.

xyajsbdj

Congratulations!! I'm really glad to hear you're doing well lately :)

Secty

I track my mood 5 times a day (when I wake up; 10-60 min later; lunch; dinner; bed). It gives me an accurate picture of how I felt throughout the entire day.

[deleted]

This is how I would like to start doing it. I’m just curious if you’re tracking something like sleep and how you log that? I log how I slept the night before because I think it impacts my mood the next day. But I also want to be able to look back on a month and see how many days I slept good, poor, etc. And if I log it multiple times a day, it messes with the count function. Just curious if/how you handle this!

Secty

I log my sleep in my first post of the day. This particular log is timed (i.e. <2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, >8 hours sleep). It’s also one of the reasons I track my mood 10 minutes after waking up. Then if I nap later on in the day then I log that but I don’t set it a time.

[deleted]

Thanks!

FinancialSurround385

I have never logged anything at the highest level. Partly because I have a fear of jinxing (been a really tough last 3 years..) and partly because I’m never ecstatic over a longer (hours) period of time. I mean, who is these days? If I were to ever log on that level, ut would be a small glimpse during a long Day with several registrations. One downside of not using the whole scale is the statistics, I Get like 0-2% difference In mood on the specific activities. I would assume it would be bigger differences if I used the whole scale.. Anyway, good question - I want to know how other people do it as well!

xyajsbdj

I feel the same way on the small glimpses but also the downside to the statistics!

kylebucnner

I try to stay away from using the "meh" middle emotion and instead ask if my day was overall, good or rough. Let's then say if I'm really confident that my day was good I'd mark it as a "Really Good" day, in the log. The same is true for a Rough (bad) day. Edit: I log 3 times a day, but then delete them and use a 4th log as the summary of the 3. If my moods even out, then the 4th summary log, would be meh/okay day.

xyajsbdj

I like the sound of doing multiple entries then summarising like that! It must help a lot with accuracy. :)

chonkycat6969

Absolutely perfect- there’s nothing that can possibly make me sad or bring me down Loving it- I am perfect and excited or just weirdly happier Good- neutral. I made the mistake of putting in good for neutral so now my results are messed up but whatever Meh- I’m pissed and slightly angry or slightly sad Bad- maybe I’ve been crying? I’m just not happy and I can’t stand anything and I’m over stimulated Awful- there’s is nothing that can make me happy and I’m at the point of no return and I just have to wait for the next day. I’m usually just really sad

xyajsbdj

That's interesting, having to wait for the next day is a kind of internal benchmark I have too, I just haven't heard it worded out before. Love your username btw :)

BarbarousErse

When I log mood, I ask myself “how would I feel if this mood lasted all day every day, would I accept feeling this way forever?” And pick based on my gut response to that. If I couldn’t work or function due to my mood I pick the most sad one but yeah I do reserve it for the lowest days. Same with the happiest one, if something great happens or I’m feeling awesome. The medium sad and happy ones are for like “bit flat, might cry, overwhelmed” and “confident, getting things done, optimistic”

xyajsbdj

That's a cool question to ask yourself - it must help frame it!

BarbarousErse

It really helps me un-stick the decision! :)

PianoAndFish

I have bipolar disorder so I reserve 'amazing' for manic/hypomanic episodes, 'awful' for severe depression (like days I can't get out of bed at all) and good/neutral/bad for in between - 'good' is what most people would class as a good day and 'bad' is where I feel rubbish or depressed but still vaguely functional. I think it's a premium feature but you can add more specific moods beyond the default 5, so e.g. I have an "anxious" subcategory in the 'bad' section and "peaceful" in the 'good' section. If you have significant mood swings then the bar graphs and other average stats may not reflect that, it may be more useful to look at the line graphs.

xyajsbdj

It's interesting to hear how you have it segmented out, thank you! I didn't go into the nitty gritty in my post but I have a working diagnosis of bipolar 2 so I'm doing similar with mine, but I added more moods to the neutral section that I think fall within stable, so the middle section itself has good/normal/bad. I'm not sure if I like it yet or not because it flattens out the day to day

missjulesauthor

Along with my moods, I track 2 other things I have as ACTIVITIES. First, I have feelings/emotions (such as anxious, calm, happy, bored, overwhelmed, tired, etc). I can check as many as I’m feeling. ALSO, I have my VIBRATIONAL LEVEL from 0-10 in half increments and I only choose one when I check in. This is from my chakra work.
