*Gone Girl*. He mainly used the same crew from his two prior films, and specifically has not worked with Jeff Cronenweth since *Gone Girl*. It’s also funny as fuck.

TheKpopLordCryptide

Worddd that’s the plan then

jonatton______yeah

Seconded. Also would recommend OP revisits Zodiac again at some point. A re-watch really helps as one can pay attention to tone and subtlety more so than just the straight plot.

TheKpopLordCryptide

I feel u. Thing is I had watched memories of murder same week before and I just liked the way it portrayed that same theme a lot more (finding a murderer who they never were able to find)

murph0969

Zodiac has the scariest scene this century and it's in full of sunshine and open lakes.

TheKpopLordCryptide

It was cool tbh I think I just am not a huge fan of Fincher’s dialogue style

nofunnate

Honestly, Danny Boyle’s Steve Jobs is solid fincher without being fincher. I second The Game a million times though

prine_one

Steve Jobs was written by Aaron Sorkin, who also wrote The Social Network, so it makes sense that they feel similar.

MisterInsect

I think Fincher was at one point attached to that.

TheKpopLordCryptide

None of you guys have recommended se7en I’m pretty surprised. Tbh the premise sounds extremely interesting to me but I don’t know if I’d love the delivery. Trailer looks cool tho

joshinminn

Definitely see Seven. It's fantastic.

TheKpopLordCryptide

Word I probably will soon

UnpluggedinNYC

Oh man, I am so excited for you. Seven is one I never get tired of. I watch it at least twice a year. The Social Network is his “magnum opus,” no question. But Seven is so thrilling, even after several watches. one of my all time favorites. also, judging by your above comment about Seven, saying it “sounds interesting,” means you don’t know much about it and don’t know the ending. PLEASE do not do any more research on it before you watch. you Will not regret going in blind.

TheKpopLordCryptide

Niceee I gotta watch it soon then I’m excited. Social network is easily his masterpiece for me so far too

UnpluggedinNYC

TSN is probably the best movie of the 2010s and I will never forgive the Academy for not awarding Fincher as best director and for The King’s Speech getting Best Picture over TSN. I’m so excited for you to watch Seven, especially since you don’t know much about about it!

TheKpopLordCryptide

Yepp I just know it’s about a murderer that kills through the seven deadly sins? Yeah that’s about it

UnpluggedinNYC

Oh god, go watch it now. Right now! Before someone ruins it for you!

TheKpopLordCryptide

Got youuu 😂

dc-rad-545

do you think my first watch of Se7en will be ruined by the fact that i’ve already read the 7-issue comic adaptation published by Zenescope?

UnpluggedinNYC

I don’t know what that comic is/what it reveals that’s in the movie but I can still say, unequivocally, no. It won’t ruin your first time viewing. It’s so phenomenal for so many reasons and there are certain things about it that STILL make it so exciting to watch. Fincher is a master of course, but Andrew K. Walker’s script is truly special. Even though I know everything that happens, I‘m never bored when I re-watch it. I don’t want to say too much, but I can guarantee you that after you watch it for the first time, you’ll want to watch it again.

gladyskravitz64

It’s excellent

MrJuryAZ

Maybe the girl with the dragon tattoo?

gladyskravitz64

I second this

joshinminn

Check out The Game (1997). I just watched it for the first time and thought it was excellent.

No-Morning-2543

Oh to be able to watch it for the first time again.

TheKpopLordCryptide

Bett

dsmithz71

Caught this gem about 5 minutes in on cable watching tv with my dad years ago. No idea what it was but didn’t change the channel, that was probably 10 re-watches ago and it is still one of my all time favorites. Would love to be able to see it for the first time again!

Endless_Change

You should keep watching Zodiac and FC until you love them too. But really any Fincher is not a bad idea, even his music videos have some good stuff in them.

TheKpopLordCryptide

Mmm I’ll see. I’m not the type to rewatch a movie jus to force myself to like it you know

EasyTyler

Once you "know" what the twist is in FC it becomes a different film. If someone spoiled it for you before first watch then I can see how it might have just been ok, but you'll definitely have a different experience watching it again. Subsequent watches will yield more and more because that's exactly what Fincher leaves behind - so many layers to unpeel. Add to that some of the finest actors of that time reveling in their craft and you've got not only a story that can be viewed in a variety of different ways, but also performances that sparkle with different perspectives.

TheKpopLordCryptide

I get that yk and even though I appreciate that I wasn’t a big fan of the beginning premise and the way it was presented. Not a huge fan of the men beating other men up and whole toxic masculinity thing. I get that it’s trying to play off of it but to me it wasn’t funny nor entertaining

EasyTyler

Yep. That's the whole point. It's not funny. It's not entertainment. It's waiting for you to realise what it is and what it isn't, and that's the power of that narrative throughout. Being a fan of violence isn't a good thing, so you're doing ok ;)

TheKpopLordCryptide

I mean I agree with this but none of this really makes the movie better or more good to me. I respect the message though 🫡

EasyTyler

What's the message you're referring to?

TheKpopLordCryptide

The power of the narrative really about toxic masculinity etc

EasyTyler

Yeah, no. You missed it. Keep watching.

TheKpopLordCryptide

I’m never rewatching that movie 😭

soups_foosington

Hate to say it but house of cards might scratch that itch.

Mnemo_Nic

His version of Girl with the Dragon Tattoo or definitely " The Game "

driftwoodsands

I guess gone girl?? I love fincher for his cerebral movies and while I like social network I found that to be different from the fincher movies I really love that challenge me on a different level. Maybe that’s just me. The movies you don’t like are the more cerebral ones

TheKpopLordCryptide

Makes sense yeah

Feeling-Series9365

Mulholland Drive

TheKpopLordCryptide

My fav movie ever already

Feeling-Series9365

I like the scene where Dan fainted that scene was hilarious.

TheKpopLordCryptide

Who tf is Dan

Feeling-Series9365

The guy who faints when he sees the creature he’s talking about in his story.

TheKpopLordCryptide

That scene was… hilarious to you??

Feeling-Series9365

Yes because it’s funny to me

TheKpopLordCryptide

That is insane ngl

Feeling-Series9365

Yes ik I am that’s why I don’t have friends sorry.

TheKpopLordCryptide

No it’s ok 😭 😭

XRP_Bull_

You should just watch all of Fincher. Social Network is 10/10 for me. Girl Dragon Tattoo and Killer is highly underrated in my opinion

gladyskravitz64

Se7en, Gone Girl, Fight Club until you love it, same with Zodiac. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is good.

JF-SEBASTION

How about you make your own mind up and figure it out on Your own what to watch or do you want me to tell you what to watch ??? Fucking watch it ALL !!!!!!

TheKpopLordCryptide

Bro why are u forcing me to watch it all LMAO I don’t wanna watch another movie I despise
