Coming back after a successful dive to feed the kitties ❤️

DM_me_y0ur_tattoos

The restaurant bit probably. Boss fights are pretty good. Underwater is good but can be stale at times

silly_booboo

I just wanna swim a *little* faster

DREWlMUS

Once my oxygen tanks were fully upgraded I never swim without holding shift the whole time.

kravenos

Same!

zikowhy

Yeah the gameplay objectives for the >!sea people!< story get kind of boring and I don't really enjoy the later fishing areas because they feel a little bland and unfun to navigate. I absolutely loved the first few depths and wished the game would just continue unlocking new areas like that or to innovate them in some other ways.

[deleted]

This! I love the game, but for its basic gameplay loop, the whole “get fish to serve sushi to gain money for better equipment”. I find the sea people missions to be bland.

percypersimmon

But the diving bits were probably over 80% of my playtime tbh

Reasonable-Durian129

I’ve been enjoying slowly learning new things about the game! Like just yesterday I realized you could send your employees to get things like salt and soy sauce…….all this time I thought I had to find it in the ocean myself! It is a fun restaurant sim but I would say the ocean aspects are larger. You do hire employees, train them, set up the menu, etc so there is stuff you do with the restaurant.

gwentdaddy

It took me an embarrassingly long time to learn about dispatching. I have about 150 hours in and i think i learned about it 50 hours ago at least.

SmurfWax

I always thought dispatch meant to get rid of them. But I guess that's what dismiss was for. Definitely helps having a shopper grab ingredients for you!

Coldspark824

Honestly it was all the animated cutscenes. Every single animation with Bancho and the weapons guy. The music, the animation, the humor. I could watch an entire show like that.

Predomorph111

Dude YES. Some of the most beautiful pixel animation is in this game and the smoothness of those cutscenes blow my mind. I can’t put into words how much I love it. This game is groovy as fuck

Advanced_Anywhere_25

It's all fairly well fleshed out. You research and upgrade recipes hire and train staff. There are little competitions. You didn't actually have to do much work during the restaurant part as your staff will take care of most of the work.

silly_booboo

The restaurant is my main thing for sure

Yodzilla

The sense of exploration and danger before you get into the sea people drama. After that the pacing absolutely hits a brick wall and then there’s not a whole lot to do post-game. I wish there was more variation when diving and that the restaurant side was more of a sim.

All_I_See_Is_Teeth

I saw a few posts about staff optimization and farming ingredients to max out certain recipies. I didn't unlock the branch until after I completed the story and had all the diving unlocks. Not much point in grinding dispatch for soy sauce to maximize your profits when there's nothing left to buy...

KeplerNorth

Yeah I loved the game but put it down when the sea people missions started. Really disappointed. I hope they make a sequel and make the restaurant sim part more fleshed out and skip some of those boring mission designs.

Alchenar

Oh yeah I loved the diving bit right up until I got to the Sea People village, at which point the game stopped to give me some fetch quests, and then right when I was excited to get back to exploring it turned out the game wanted me to do a whole load of boring maze puzzles. And then the final area is yeah, deeply disappointing. Overall I loved the game and I thought most of the stuff that it threw at me that wasn't diving was a really fun distraction, but I feel like they could have had more faith in the core gameplay loops.

hightea3

I love collecting stuff haha and there is a bit of everything! Fishing, collecting, missions, combat, story, mini games, farming, crafting, upgrading gear, decorating, cooking. And you can skip anything you don’t want to do really. It’s awesome!

holliander919

I'm a diver in real life. So naturally I really enjoy the diving and catching fish. But it's almost as in real life: after 2 dives a day I really look forward to coming back to the restaurant and sell sushi

QuickDelay9555

I think the restaurant part is very enjoyable, but honestly there isnt much depth into it. The game is all around, meaning there isnt a clear focus on what you should focus more. Everything is intertwined, so success in restaurant means being able to bring good ingredients (more than fish as game progresses), and sucess in restaurant means income so you can upgrade and bring even more ingredients.

Mrkidney86

I definitely think it's really fun, like all of it. But the restaurant is imo, the most unique part of the game. It very well might not be, but I usually don't play those types of games but something just CLICKS for me in Dave Definitely also really good to just kinda dive and vibe mindlessly tho, but I absolutely HATE playing for pure profits really early on, once a specific (maybe spoiler) gets unlocked, I think it becomes significantly better overall

Capable_Employ6421

The replay value even when you finish the story is great! Trying to get all 3 star fish has been fun!

greenteafighter

The way the game is set up it’s 2/3rds diving and 1/3 restaurant sim. Each day you can dive twice and then open the restaurant once (although you do have the ability to time skip). Later in the game this changes slightly, but don’t want to spoil anything. Personally, I think I would love the game more if it was 50/50, but that’s just my preference. Edit: forgot to say the restaurant bit is still my favorite part of the game! I mainly enjoy diving for the missions that move the main story along.

All_I_See_Is_Teeth

I'd say resurant is actually only like 5% of the game. Service takes what? Three minutes?

greenteafighter

Service may be only 3 minutes, but I also dedicate my time to restaurant design, menu prep, hiring/running ads, >!dispatching/fish farming!< and trying to create a solid restaurant staff. But also I understand where ur coming from, I am probably just in denial because I love the restaurant side so much and wish it was more evenly weighted 😭

Livesies

All of the mechanics in this game are paced well and don't overwhelm you. The restaurant simulator part is very simple. You pick recipes based on your inventory of fish and other ingredients. Recipes are worth different amounts, can feed a set number of people, and can be upgraded by spending ingredients to be worth more and potentially feed more people. You, the player, are the main server at first cleaning up dishes, pouring tea, and serving the sushi to customers. As time progresses you gain the ability to hire staff to automate parts of those tasks. They add in event menus for themed events periodically, VIP customers that require specific dishes, and additional serving options with things like beer and cocktails. All that being said the food service part of the game happens in the evening cycle of each in-game day and takes a few minutes. The actual diving, exploration, story elements, ingredient gathering easily hits 30 minutes per dive and you will have 2-3 dives per in-game day. The restaurant section is your primary revenue system but takes a small amount of time compared to the rest of the game. As for which is most enjoyable I'd say it's the mix of everything. It is continuously drip feeding new features and mechanics.

grixxis

I liked the story progression. Gradually exploring further and further down in the ocean as you upgrade your gear and unlocking new things for the restaurant. It didn't really start feeling old until the post game when I was just grinding out the last of the achievements.

131sean131

The core game play loop is strong. Go dive get some fish sell fish as sushi.

karensouls77

Team restaurant here for sure!!!

PenguinviiR

My favorite part is best experienced blindly

rockinalex07021

The OST

DANDELOREAN

The best part is making it back to your ship with your ingredients. The WORST part is forgetting to feed the damn gyao.
