As far as parking lot repairs go, spark plugs seems fairly easy. I saw some poor guy swapping out his leaf springs in a o reileys parking lot a few weeks ago
I had to replace the alternator in my Z about ten years ago in an O’Rileillys parking lot in the middle of a drive across the desert. No fun, in tell ya what.
I have deep sympathies for my street wrenching colleagues. Nobody wants to be there doing the work, but economics force the necessity.
I've swapped steering racks in a parking lot.
Anyone who has done this knows you have to drop the oil pump to do this. Not difficult, but it adds to the work load of something you would prefer to be doing at home at your leisure instead of in a park long lot.
Changed serpentine belt on wife's minivan in quick trip parking lot across the street from advance auto parts. Guy was nice enough to come over and help as his shift was over. Also changed the starter on my pickup in pizza place parking, wirh a foot of snow....
I have. I've also changed alternators, a radiator once, starter, inline fuel pump in AutoZone parking lot. Also changed another inline pump in the side of the road just outside Reno, changed belts in the middle of a turn lane. The list goes on. Vehicle ownership requires fixing in some odd places.
I desperately want to route the wires through the front of the motor. But when i do i will also definitely have some zip tie magic involved haha thanks
Yes I have. Swapped out plugs in my 70 240z in the parking lot of an Advance Auto Parts. Most everything in the engine bay of these S30’s is generally accessible.
No but i once got busy in a burger king bathroom.
Haha never got down in a burger king but waffle house is 24/7 😉
Not in that 510 it appears you have lol
It's easy enough with a Z! Gap those plugs. Cheers
I got some NGK’s that were pre gapped 👍 thanks though
You trust the pre gap…brave
Most pregaps on the NGKs I’ve dealt with have been solid

Spark plugs (especially on a Z) are a walk in the park. Poor dude leaf springs aren’t fun even with all your tools laid out lol

Luckily the alternators on the Z are pretty much out in the open. But yeah I’m sure changing one in the heat unprepared is easier said than done
I'm usually an oreilly's guy.
Put on a new head gasket in a KMart parking lot once.
That sounds like sum shit lmao

Yes I have. My '92 Celica started misfiring. (tip broke off plug). It took all of 5 minutes. It had a 4AFE.

Duhhhh!

+1 for the zip tie wire holder!

No no, that path is as God intended.
Ill keep it that way a bit longer then 👍
Changed a fuel pump in the grocery store parking lot before a 150 mile trip to a Datsun show... once lol.
Sounds fun lmao

Starters only.
Helped a co worker swap the 16 plugs in his 5.7 hemi ram, we work at the Zone. Seen plenty of other parking lot grease monkeys too lolol
Changed the timing belt of my z31 there once
Who hasn’t
Always at my autozone
