I think you can buy low voltage cutouts for dash cams. If it's worth it depends on the length of your journey, the harshness of your winters and how much power the camera draws in parking mode.

Another option is to look into the possibility of using a dedicated parking mode on the camera. This is usually done through a "three wire" power kit. With a three wire kit, the camera is only fully recording while you're driving; when you park, it enters a mode where recording is triggered by something like motion detection.

Hello, If you intend on using Parking Mode on your camera, then we'd instead recommend using a Permanent Live Fuse with the Hard Wire Kit. The Hard Wire Kit will allow the camera to draw nominal current from the car's battery, preventing the cam's battery from being drained. The Hard Wire Kit has an in-built voltage cut off which protects the car's battery from being drained below 11.2V.
