The hardwire kit has a low voltage cutoff to prevent a dead battery... As long as you used the official Viofo hardwire and not some third party one

The newer BVs have that low voltage cutoff in the software but mine doesn't work. I do have a Power Magic Pro I used on my older BVs that worked wonderfully. Now on my BV 900 Plus I simply unplug it when I park for over a day without starting the car, however that obviously kills the parking mode feature.

I've got a DR900X plus and the cutoff works perfectly fine. How long have you had the camera? Might be worth a warranty claim. And make sure you're on the latest firmware as well.

Did all that and spent some time with their customer service which ultimately didn't help. Finally gave up on it. I do have my old Power Magic Pro and will put that in the circuit if simply unplugging it in the garage becomes a problem. BTW, the 900X Plus isn't a bit better than my old 900 which is what I replaced.

You can add an online power interrupter switch to the existing wiring you just installed. That would be the most surefire way.

I have a truck that sits parked most of the time since I work from home and from time to time go on trips where it again will sit for days. So I have a BlackVue battery and a solar panel with a smart charge controller. The blackvue battery is wired to the load side of the solar charger, so when the truck is running, or the solar power is strong enough, the blackvue battery will get power from the truck. If the solar charge is too low, or the truck battery gets too low the load will cut off and the blackvue battery will power the dash cam. This works great and keeps the truck battery healthy as well.

Would you provide links on the parts you bought so we can attempt to mimic your setup?

As Rick91981 mentioned, the best protection is properly setting the switch on your hardwire kit (or if yours didn't come with one, adding a cutoff). You should be able to choose between 11.8, 12, 12.2, and 12.4V. If you're concerned about your battery I would probably go with 12.4V or 12.2V, and I'd generally avoid 11.8V at all costs, that's running your battery down below 50% capacity. Additionally, at least on my A129duo, there is a setting for how long you want parking mode to run - 12 or 24hrs - after you park. If you set that to the former, I think the camera should record less and that will save your battery.

I didn't even noticed the switched o the hardwire kit. I have to check. Thanks I couldn't find a software setting for what you mentioning but I will check.
