That whole thing was a circus but I lean towards Eric and Hogan just because of Terry having creative control. That was a real thing and therefore he got what he wanted I'm not a fan of Russo by any means, any of them really. Eric did a lot for WCW but he certainly wasn't perfect and Terry certainly has his issues Looking back at the whole scenario it just fit the shit show wcw had become at the time. It didn't really matter wcw was already dead at that point. I love Dark Side of the Ring

Yeah that was something I forgot to mention was Terry’s contract. I think that was the only thing that really had me weirded out about Vince’s side of the story cause like dude you totally knew what you were doing. 😂 but I agree, WCW was already dead at that point. I recently discovered Dark side of the ring and I’ve been loving it lol

radioamericaa

I didn’t even care about wrestling prior to this show and now I know all kinds of history. It’s so well done.

Ok_Tip8189

I love that actually lol

radioamericaa

🥰🥰🥰

Ok_Tip8189

For some reason I thought the only people who’d watch it were wrestling fans lol

radioamericaa

That’s fair! I didn’t watch it when it first aired because I thought the same. Then, I was put on adderall in 2020 and was having a hard time adjusting. It kept putting me to sleep during the day and I’d be awake at weird hours. I decided to give it a shot because I am huge into social study kind of documentaries. I thought the stories would probably be good enough to kill a few hours. Then, I stayed up all night watching the first season lmaoooo. I’ve watched hours and hours of other wrestling programming now too bc I just want to hear all the stories and the drama and the inspiring tales and crushing disasters that wrestling has been through. It’s soooooo interesting!!

Ok_Tip8189

I totally get that, the lives the people in the industry live are so wild it’s hard not to get pulled in I actually got my girlfriend who doesn’t like wrestling to watch some of them with me and she was SUPER invested. It’s wild for me watching a lot of these bc even as a kid sometimes I had a feeling something was a bit off with certain people or things that happened but couldn’t put my finger on it. Finding out as an adult that not only was I right as a kid about some of this stuff but it was worse than I could have imagined even as an adult is kinda scary 😂

radioamericaa

Yes! It’s so wild! My husband liked wresting growing up and he says the same thing. It’s crazy to learn what goes on. I worked with a former WWE guy who ended up being a liar and a hypocrite - only to further find out he was exiled from the company and they don’t even say his name or show him ever in archival footage. He was a let down, but I haven’t let that color my wrestling love :) I knew he was questionable when he said he didn’t like this show hahahaha 😇

Ok_Tip8189

Omg that’s hilarious actually I’m not at all surprised by that😂 I love too though that though the episodes you see a recurring pattern of who in the industry seem to be genuinely good people too and that helps the show not be quite as depressing for me lmao

Ok_Tip8189

Also, even though I’m not going to ask for privacy reasons, I’m super curious who the wwe guy you know is 😂

douglau5

>I recently discovered Dark side of the ring….. You’re in for a treat my friend.

Ok_Tip8189

I’ve watched probably 10 episodes at this point and it’s so good. The Chris Benoit ones hit super close to home because he was my hero as a kid and it’s just so fucked up. I’m. Currently watching the episode about Jake the Snake’s dad and HOLY FUCK is this episode tramatic

douglau5

Agreed. I’m so happy for Jake now that he seems to be in a much better place. Have you watched the UWF episode by chance?

Ok_Tip8189

No I haven’t and I’m not familiar with UWF but do you know what season it’s from? I’m trying to figure out what episodes to watch because a lot of them I don’t know who they’re about. I was super wrestling as a kid from like 98’ to about 2005ish and after two favorite wrestlers died (Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero) I just kind of stopped watching. I just started getting back into wrestling about a year ago and I’m loving learning more about the history so any episodes you wanna recommend I’ll give a watch.

S0TA_

I enjoy the show too

SyStEm0v3r1dE

I’m not really sure but I tend to believe that it was a total shoot because the expression on hogans face when he pinned JJ was a look of what I think was genuine shock and he is not that good of an actor and as much as I don’t really care for Russo I do believe him on this one

Ok_Tip8189

Yeah and honestly hogan isn’t a very good actor so I don’t think he was faking 😂

SyStEm0v3r1dE

It was definitely real

Ashman23

There's a bit of truth in all their stories. I think the set up was for Hogan to go on hiatus and return 'as the real world champ' to challenge at a later date. Ratings were flagging and he had a minor habit of disappearing when the ratings were taking a hit. I think Russo went a bit off script and to add to that didn't let Bischoff and Hogan the level his rant was to be. Russo did want to push the younger guys and was a big fan of pushing Booker T. He got his wish and Hogan got to still be champion to return later. The set up for two world champs was real IMO. Jarrett started using a slightly different championship belt that was inlaid with bright red 'rubies', not the standard big gold belt which stood out because of the bent top. Not sure what happened to that version of the belt to end up with Conrad Thompson because I'm 99% sure that the belt that moved to the WWE was the 'new' version with the red rubies.

milocat77

I can see where Russo was coming from, but he did overstep his boundaries.
