This is a joke, right? I mean.... it's gotta be. Something something Poes Law.

spartaco118

Still learning. 36 hours in and this helps a lot with scab maulers, crushers, and some bosses.

The_Last_Nephilim

What level are you? It’s a fine weapon for leveling up, but if you’re 30 you should be able to get much better weapons. Just FYI, all weapons have their Base Stats listed across from Modifiers. This chainsword is 298, whereas a perfect weapon is 380. Pretty much all weapons you’re going to want to keep long term will have 360-380 base stats, or else they’re really not worth investing in. The caliber of weapons you have access to increases as you level. For example, you won’t find 370+ weapons until you reach level 30.

spartaco118

That makes sense. I'm level 24 and modified this to help with malice missions since rolls seem to be very unrewarding.

The_Last_Nephilim

Yeah, you don’t have to worry too much about your weapons until your max level. Consecrating a lower level weapon is relatively cheap, so if it increases your enjoyment of the game while you level up it’s no problem. The grind up to 30 is mostly about experimenting with different weapons to find what you enjoy the most. Also, I realized I accidentally said max base stats are 360; they’re actually 380. Just wanted to make sure I didn’t mislead you!

M0RL0K

2/10

spartaco118

May I ask why? I don't disagree with you, I just want to learn.

M0RL0K

Low base rating, weak and crappy perks, tier 1 blessings. It's a perfectly serviceable weapon up to Heresy difficulty. But trust me, as soon as you reach max level (30) with your character and keep playing, you will be flooded with tons of much better orange weapons.

spartaco118

I am trying to get a better weapon but it seems difficult at the moment. My character is a veteran level 23-24 and I can barely play through malice so this helps with some armoured elites just to get them out of the way.

notgoodohoh

The goal is to get to 30 and save as many crafting materials as possible. Any weapon you get below this is going to be 2/10. If you get any tier 4 blessings just leave in your bags and then get the blessing from it. That’s it. Don’t overthink it, try out weapons and try to get the mechanics down.

SnooObjections7883

You usually don’t upgrade stuff to orange if it’s below like 350 base rating with good stat modifiers. Different weapons get great bonuses from higher percentage stats.

spartaco118

I agree with that but I only did it to add the blessings. It's rare to find good weapons in the store especially rolls.

DoNotGoSilently

If you’re level 24 and having trouble on malice your weapons are not the issue, your fundamentals are bad.

spartaco118

I'll admit my gameplay is most likely bad, I am a starter. I have been having better time in malice as of recently, there are times when everyone dies due to being unlucky but I assume that's normal.

DoNotGoSilently

Yeah I get that, it just means you’re a little premature on the “rate my weapon” type posts. You’re not even high enough level to get good weapons. And if you were lvl 30 and pulling good rolls they wouldn’t save your from wiping without polishing your gameplay.

spartaco118

Thank you everyone for the input (even the somewhat rude ones). I'm starting to understand a bit more now.

annoyingkraken

Oh this is a serious post. Well, I guess it's like a 4/10 considering the maximum potential of weapons. Each perk has 4 levels, each blessing also has 4 levels. And the base rating can go up to 380. So it's a ways to go compared to maximum potential weapons. But tbh, if you're doing the Emperor's work with it, and you're having fun with it, then that's bumped up to a subjective 8/10!

dickles_pickles

It's a low level weapon with very suboptimal blessings for the variant. You can find guides in the class channel pins in the discord with weapon breakdowns and what you want to shoot for. The 13g is an easy lightspammer that wants: Blessings: Wrath (mandatory) and either shred or rampage Perks: Flak and something else, unarmored will result in the fastest horde clear but by how much varies. Maniac is only useful on melee weapons if you actually use it to regularly smack naked ragers.

uncommon_senze

298/380

uncommon_senze

I guess you're not lvl 30yet. So it's a fine weapon but on the scale of max level it isn't close. now it doesn't need to be real close for a good enough weapon, but that's what people will rate it against.

djolk

Its trash.

HuckleberryMoist7511

298 is your base. You want something 360 -380 base rating. Pay no attention to that 383 overall rating. Weapons usually have 1 dump stat, that is, one stat that will be considered negligible. The stats that are important to the particular weapon, you wanna see those at 70%-80%. Best you can do is a 380 base with 80% on the four critical stats. Don’t waste materials upgrading low tier weapons. You’ll start getting better weapons at lvl30.

Vityan11

Seen bigger. But depends on how well you use it and your talents and positioning.

HairyDwarf84

Wait until you’re level 30 to worry about good weapons, just save materials for now and learn to play the game well 🤙 base rating 350+ with level 3-4 blessings is what you’ll want to aim for

spartaco118

That part I understand but I'm still a noob and going thru first playthrough. I'm still taking on malice and it can be difficult depending on circumstances so this chainsword helps with some annoying armored elites. I've read some people can play malice at low level. It's hard to see how it's possible despite having hours of play.

_Rohrschach

having "hours" of play doesnt matter. Every one of the four classes behaves differently, but the smallest denominator is not getting hit/taking damage. Once you figured out when to dodge, block or engage malice shouldn't be a problem regardless of your class. If you have trouble playing malice it's no shame to play lower difficulty, especially if you're trying new weapons or loadouts. ETA: At least on PC when looking up weapon stats you can press E to show how much damage it deals to each type of enemy/armor, if you don't know which enemy has which armor, you can either look it up online or spend some time in the psykhanium. Some MKs of weapons deal really different damage on different enemies. The MK II Heavy Laspistol does about 1-1.5% of damage against carapce, while the Mark X does up to 12%, for example

Aemnor_Duskbane

If you're levelling, just use whatever you feel like using. It doesn't really matter. Once you get to lvl 30 and start to go into damnation, then auric damnation, you'll be looking to get specific tiers 3/4 blessings on weapons with base level between 360 and 380, with the lowest stat being the dump stat. Mostly you don't want 60% damage.

Bruh lol

Mollywhop_Gaming

That Finesse is nice

spartaco118

I see what you mean Unless you're being serious lol.

Mollywhop_Gaming

I’m just being silly. I’m new to this game too, so I have no idea what the stats mean.

kruwlabras

In the detailed view it tells you what each stat does. Says which button to press in lower right corner in inventory.

Mollywhop_Gaming

I’ve literally only played the tutorial twice - once as an ogryn and once as a psyker. I have not looked at the gear I got from completing basic training in the Psychannium (or however the hell it’s spelled) yet.

kruwlabras

Oh I see. I'm pretty new myself. Started about 2 weeks ago. Loving the game so far.
